Wow, not only was Mr Adams really onto something, but it seems he was way ahead of his time. This is awesome!

Total coincidence, but somehow significant.

Poor Douglas Adams.. he mentioned in an interview once that he chose 42 because he was looking for something that was not in any way significant.
This is true but it doesn't stop it being remarkable how much 42 turns up!

Did you know that six times nine does equal 42 in base 7. Man, I think mathmatians have far to much time on their hands though, don't you think, if they're continually finding was to make 42. I kid for couse, it is pretty awesome.

But, hay, 42 is the answer.

Or perhaps Deep Thought had a rounding error and it was actually the ultimate answer that was slightly off.

1337 was actually a language used by hackers in the 80's so that people couldn't intercept there messages. Something like that, anyway.
"1337" or "l33t" was slang roughly equivalent to "noob". L33tspeak was any of a number of simplistic ciphers used by l33t people in an attempt t0 m4k3 th3ms3lv35 l00k 4w350m3.
No. It had nothing to do with looking awesome. 1337 was used to evade programs that would search for key words used to find people taking part in illegal trading of certain files. By speaking in 1337speak, these programs couldn't find anything.

The History of 1337speak [http://www.aquarionics.com/2003/05/04/a_basic_history_of_l337_sp3ak]

Though, nowadays, yes, it is only used by idiots who think it makes them look awesome.

Em it is not 42 it is 42.003093778495535598....... So it doesn't really count. Also pi can never be made into a whole number by multiplication or any methods as it is a number that recurs at varying intervals and cannot be written as a fraction.

Am I the only one here who doesn't care? And, it's been said but, where's the discussion value?
Just humour him.

And that is a pretty awesome coincidence.

Actually, it's a bit over 42. 42.00309378... If it's not exactly 42, I'm not impressed.
Mathematicians shrug. Engineers, the oompa-loompas of science, rejoice. It's close enough for them.

It's 42 to within 4 significant figures, which this particular problem's margin.

That said, my mind is officially blown.

Well this is the dumbest thing I have seen in awhile... Its just like saying Pi=3! The answer is that pi is infinite so we will never find out whatever the multiples of it are. The OPs ignorance and the misleading information are very annoying.
