This kid is mentally disturbed. I hope he gets some psychiatric help because he needs it badly. What he did is pretty sick and he needs to be locked away somewhere, maybe a mental hospital, maybe a jail cell. This is... just a no. It's scary to think people are out there doing this.

I wanna cremate him in an oven, anyway it was the red light on the controller wasn't it it probably started to tell him: "kill her and we can be together forever". The picture in the source link reminds me of the HAL9000

Oh, My, Dear, God!!!

This breaks my heart.

The kid is obviously troubled. In a BIG, BIG way. The poor little bastard's ruined his entire life over a trivial punishment. I mean, ask yourself, "How would I deal with intentionally, and brutally murdering my own mother because I was pissed off she took my console."?

How do you EVER get over something lie that?

Plus, the kid's clearly not too bright. A conventional oven is for cooking it's not a furnace.

Aw, hell. Sometimes I hate my species.

What was wrong with this person? The mother could have taken anything from this kid and he still would have bludgeoned her to death. What was his problem?

One would think that someone who plays video games this much would understand the simple concept of killing someone means that you do not get them back. He worded his confession like he was surprised that she's gone. Someone's gonna try to link this to the violent games themselves, once again completely overlooking the obvious fact that this person is clearly mentally disturbed.

I really don't know what to say to that. They say they wish they hadn't done it, shouldn't they have thought of that in the first place. What a story to end my day with...

This is really sad... This is far worse than other stories about gaming related violence I hear about, mainly due to the brutality of it and how young the person is and to his own mother.

I'm always defending games against the idiots, but it really does get hard at times to say it doesn't have some sort of effect on people. Don't want any replies about how it has no harm blahblahblah. It's a gray area and we don't know a definite answer to what effect gaming has on the mind yet, it sure as hell does something though.

The main point is that this is a horrible thing to happen, with or without the game angle. This goes beyond the issue of "Oh great, now the journalists will have a field day about games again, thanks kid". A persons life was taken here and another destroyed. I know that there will be a lot of comments across the net that don't seem to care that much though. As long as games are protected everything is fine and dandy I guess?

Yeah I rambled and I'm a bit all over the place at the moment, it's just pretty shocking.

By. The. Gods. O_O

My parents never took away my console systems, mainly because they were my means of escaping the depression I was having because of how horrible school was for me (was teased nearly every single day just for being autistic.) :(

However, even at 16, if my parents did decide to take away my PS2, I would probably just find a way to forget that days worth of bullying rather than murder my parents.

Then again, the boy's at the age where his testosterone levels are 5 times higher than normal and he was probably having just as hard of a time at school. Still, his playstation being taken away is no reason to kill (in fact, any reason is no reason to kill your mom.)

And, as far as media goes, this might fuel the rage that those evangelical anti-gaming fanatics have, and it might also be used as proof that "violent" games are "mass-murder simulators" (which we all know is false) at the supreme court hearing.

Next time I see my mom, I'm gonna give her a nice, big hug while she reads the article. My big half-sis, too, as she was there for me and my other, full sister when both of our parents were working.

Well, that sucks.
We should probably keep him away from Bulletstorm, though. We don't want him turning into a murderer and a rapist.
My jaw had literally dropped upon reading the article, but you immediately made me snort with laughter. Damn you, damn you hard.

Seriously though, what the hell? What kind of sense of entitlement do you have to have over a parent to kill them for taking something away from you? That's just completely baffling to me.

now I'm just waiting for a bunch of "Doctors" and Fox News to over generalize this and assume we are all about to murder people with claw hammers, ovens and chair legs. it's only a matter of time you know.
