Just heard this on Fox. Apparently 70% of people living in England, Australia, France, Germany and New Zealand want to, and I quote "Dismantle their health care system and start anew." Yes, I know this is bullshit but I'm curious how people of these nations feel about our media's portrayal of them, especially with all this health care hoo ha going on right now. Funny? Sad? Offensive? Also, do you know any people from any of these countries that actually do want to "dismantle the health care system and start anew."?

My fox news says the complete opposite, and it is far more reputable, and reliable a news service.

Fox can go fuck itself and die in a corner. That's pretty much it.

I've even stopped buying Family Guy and American Dad DVDs now, I'm fucking sick of fucking Fox. How do you people allow it to remain on the air?

Well, I for one am not too surprised. I side with Fox on this one as 100% of the English hate everything.

NP :p Nah, non-citizen residents SHOULD get basic medical coverage (perhaps not hospital, but trips to the gp and cheap antibiotics and retrovirals) .... simply because it saves money.

How you ask? Because long-term residents are still workers in the country ... or at the very least associate with workers.

If workers get sick ... then business is stunted. By treating a single person (even at the cost of 1000 dollars of tax revenue) you may end up saving various businesses 10's of thousands from people working as opposed to being sick.

Prevention is better than a cure. Treat the infection BEFORE it spreads.
Well, I guess that does make sense giving only the most basic if medical treatment. Anymore would have to be reimbursed to the government.

Whilst I believe 70% of my fellow ADULT Australians (at the very least) would ssay that our healthcare system is shoddy. Perhaps Fox News should have also asked "And would you trade it for privately run healthcare management organizations?" I think you'd get Australians ubiquitously saying 'No'.

I can assure you that this is completely wrong. First of all, wouldn't it be up to those countries to report if their people liked their own health-care? And second of all Fox is absolutely against health-care. When I was on my last vacation the only tv station they had in a language I could understand was Fox and the amount of contra-health-care propaganda was just sickening.

Heh--Fox News probably left out the part where 95% of that 70% percent said "...so it can be more socialized and there can be more government involvement"
True that I bet!

Yes, but how many people in Britain, Austria and France have no health care?
Not a one. I don't really think about American health care, but when I do I mainly think "Jesus Bloody Christ I'm glad I'm not sick over there"

The only issue I have with the Australian system is the lack of funding for some rural areas but it still beats the living crap out of the American system.

I remember a few years ago when our government was in talks for a Free Trade Agreement with the US there was a demand on the table by the Americans that we get rid of the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharmaceutical_Benefits_Scheme) that controls the prices of drugs in this country and stops advertisement of medical products and the stink that kicked up nearly drove the whole agreement into the sea.

Seriously if they'd of stuck to that demand the FTA would never of happened, the PBS is almost universally popular in this country.

Honestly 70% of the English probably hate or complain bitterly about 70% of everything. So that's not really a surprising statistic to me. (I kid!)

If they care that much they can go private healthcare. I however am happy in knowing that if I get some life threatening disease I can walk (or as the case may be br rolled) into an NHS hospital and get help without paying stupid amounts of money. This figure is either from a selection of idiots (who else would talk to Fox? :p) or is just completely untrue.

Considering it's Fox News, chances are it's both.

Yeah, Fox isn't shoveling crap these days. They've rented a back-hoe in the form of Glenn Beck.
