On average the USA spends over twice as much on healthcare per head than any of the countries with 'free' healthcare (ie UK, Germany, France, Australia etc) yet Americans have a slightly lower expected lifespan than any of them. I think that speaks volumes. Americans may have the most expensive health service in the world, but is by no means the best and this is what Obama is trying to sort out, he just wants people to get value for money. A lot of people in the UK do complain about the NHS, but that's because mo system is perfect, we'd never give it up in order to have the current USA system.

Just heard this on Fox.

That is your problem right there. Anybody in America with two brain cells to rub together knows that Fox is full of propaganda and bullshit.

I don't trust anything that comes off that network.

Frankly, I see a few similrities between Fox News and the Obama administration/Obama himself.

1. Both have their ideologies and state what their intentions are (I see a lot of people doubt Fox New's intentions, but I have reasonable doubt of Obama's as well).

2. both distort facts, leave out information, tell outright lies (although sometimes they tell the truth)

3. Etc, etc.

It'd be nice if there was someone we could really trust for news. Both Fox News and the Obama Administration have shown themselves as not truly reliable; the same as other groups.

Oh well. No use whining.

70% of English hate our healthcare because 70% of English are on the NHS, but seriously, we don't HATE it, it's a fantastic system, we're just first to complain when anything goes wrong with it.

that's bull. I've got no quarrels with the NHS, and asking for anything more is just biting the hand that feeds you. Do you really want to have to pay just to get your gradually life endangering but totally curable tumor treated?

I'm perfectly happy with my free health care.
NHS isn't free, we pay for it in taxes, even those who go private.
If the U.S. does get a public option healthcare in it's current state, I imagine a lot of people who are currently able to get private insurance won't be able to if it passes. Less money to spend on yourself, after all (taxes, national debt, inflation, etc).

I really wish the American goverment would make sure large news sources can't get away with printing misinformation and plain ol' bullshit.

What pisses me of more is that they are claiming this about other countries, which makes me feel bad to be American.

Just because british people hate their healthcare, that doesn't mean it's bad. British people complain about things on an almost hourly basis. I know, I am one.

Also, are you really going to trust Fox news to give you balanced and valid arguements?
