Damn this timer for being on American time. For me it's already Friday morning, and this thing is 15 hours away. Now I need to find another excuse to skip uni.
I am not surprised. Valve is based on the west coast of the US, so I think they would end up using their own time.

To demonstrate the effectiveness of a countdown on simpletons, observe Subject A: DustyDrB

The subject has little to no interest in the product nor the company developing the product, but has a window open on his computer in which he periodically checks the status of the countdown. In this, we have succeeded in stage one of our project and shall move on to more complex subjects.

/me being a schmo.

"09:00 ? Hello again.
09:00 ? I?ve been waiting a long time for this.
09:00 ? I know it?s arriving later than expected.
09:00 ? But I have a message for you:
09:00 ? April Fools.
09:01 ? I?m joking.
09:01 ? Seriously, though:
09:01 ? You?ve been surprisingly competent at
09:01 ? generating electro-chemical energy to jumpstart the system.
09:01 ? But now we need raw computational power
09:02 ? to speed up the reboot process."

Some kind of challenge

A pretty silly one at that...
The more games in the potato sack that are played, the earlier the game releases.
So if you have those games, you better well play em!

It looks like playing certain games will reduce the time till portal is released. Or something.

EDIT: Whoo, three posts at the same time.

Well played, Valve. Good job selling stuff.

?I think I'll just let Amnesia run in the background, here?

Pretty sweet idea. I don't own the sack, but I have some of the games in it. That should count right?

You need to find potatoes to power glados, not just play the games, find the potatoes in them.

You have to admit, this is probably one of the coolest ways to market. I prefer it over the EA way...

She runs on battery power using potatoes as an electrolyte?

Ok then. Looks like I'm getting the Sack. Damn good price, too.

I'm wondering the same thing. I only have Bit.Trip Beat (the only one of the sack I want to or can play on my Macbook). I'd be glad to do my part and help make the time go down. Doesn't even matter than I'm not really interested in Portal 2.
