I've never seen a game set in India. India would be mad for a game location. What it'd be about, I have no idea. But India would be cool.

Umm... Norse mythology?

Viking: Battle for asgard. In some ways too human and age of empire: age of mythology.

How about 1066 AD in England? A fairly awesome story.

Or the battle of Agincourt. If it was based on the Bernard Cornwell book that would be even more awesome.

EDIT:

It could be based off the Richard Sharpe series!

How about the Spanish colonization of South America, Aztec (or Mayans, whatever the hell they were) versus a bunch of murderous Spaniards? I'd buy that for a dollar!
Colonisation focuses on the founding of America, and you can be Spanish (Or French, Dutch or English) and fight/befriend the Incans and Aztecs

I have yet to see any games based on the Great Depression. Granted, it would probably just end up like Grand Theft Auto.

As for a time period, interesting time periods that can be done well in a game have been done. If your talking about something that exists in the real world that video games have not done yet, I have never played a game where you escape from prison, which I think would make a pretty cool game. I heard that a game about the show prison break came out, but you weren't actually trying to escape from prison.

How about the inside of a body?

Like you travel through bloodstreams and battle in the Stomach.

Edit: Cambrian Period.
