This thread is never going to be successful. The reason being that while you can't put yourself in anyone else's shoes to compare, neither can anyone else.
No-one can know that they're having a 'better' life than anyone else, because everyone feels different. Everyone expresses their feelings differently, and while people can often gauge whether or not a person is particularly miserable/happy, you cannot judge whether anyone's life is generally more satisfying/happier. All these things are very subjective.
My nihilism makes me quite the hedonist in many respects, though I only smoke when nervous, and only enjoy occasional weed with friends. I say, you can only ever tell how you feel. So do what makes you feel best.
Drink, smoke, have wild sexual affairs, do drugs... That is, right up to the point where the anxiety about your health, and the morals and social rules burned into your mind, will allow you without outweighing the good feelings from it all.
In my case, I'll do weed and mild hallucinogens, but the thought of anything harder makes me uncomfortable, so I avoid them.
When people come across as stuck up when they talk about "not needing drugs to enjoy themselves", that attitude is just their method of boosting self-esteem and cementing the strength of their beliefs. They have that attitude to help them feel the best they can (whether they realise it or not). Therefore, don't concern yourself with it, and continue to live your life how you want. [/rant]
TL;DR:
Concerning yourself with others enjoyment is pointless, enjoy your own life.
