I heard Resistance 2 was like a cross between Wii Animal Crossing and smash-hit TV show The Office (British version). Truth?

So, because you personally do not like Resistance 2, you think every other reviewer was payed off to rate this game highly or are just complete retards because you personally did not like this game?

What kind of logic is that?

You're free to your own opinion of a game, but to say that all the other reviewers are retards because they didn't abide to your own opinion of this game is ludicrous. You may not like this game, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for other people to like it, and it's completely childish of you to whine to Yahtzee that you want him to tear Resistance 2 a new one.

I liked Resistance 2 for what it gave me, it was challenging, it's story was exceptional, the multiplayer portion (while frustrating) is fantastic, and the game is just fun to play overall just like every other Insomniac game I've played. If someone didn't like it, that's fine, as long as they gave their own logical reasons (not something like "It doesn't have a cover system!" or "it's a console FPS!")

But you are saying that because you don't like this game personally, nobody else should like this game either, and therefore you frolic over to Yahtzee and tell him to [whinyvoice]"put everyone else in their place!"[/whinyvoice]

Not to mention, this rant reeks of PC fanboyistigasm. Apparently because someone doesn't have the time or willpower to build their own gaming PC, and choose a console because it has games they want, they are instantly a retard in your book. Oh, and it's impossible for consoles to have multiplayer, even though the very game you're talking about handles lag-free 60 players online. While PCs are generally superior to consoles, I'll always admit that, but to say that nothing is possible on a console or bash people for playing an FPS on a console is downright shortsighted of you and ignorant.

Not even Eggo is that much of a console tosser.

I know it isn't a crass video full of wacky cartoons (it's just a regular video of playing the game), but The Escapist did a text review of the game where Endo panned the whole thing. Caused a bit of fuss in the forum if I remember correctly.

He gave his own reasons for not liking the game, though some of his critiques were odd and it seemed that he concentrated mainly on the scenery.

But if he didn't like it, then that was fine, atleast he gave reasons and didn't whine that everyone else is stupid for liking it.

I feel your pain, and that's why I let my gut lead me to the correct game. Resistance 1 was so terrible that I couldn't imagine playing 2...yet, I did at a friends house, and promptly put the controller down. It's a truely awful, more-of-the-same type of FPS that just needs to die!

You know, I've always had issues with fps's on consoles, I started out playing shooters on the pc, (same with tactic games like warcraft), and everything else on the console.

The whole analog controllers just don't do it for me. (The xbox controller is worse at fps games then the ps controller imo, but this coming from someone who played the orginal PS. I bet all of you who think the xbox controller is easier, Played the xbox first...(and the only reason the xbox controller is so large, is there target consumer are football playign frat boys.))

Anyways, if you are used to a mouse, they do have a controller for the PS3, that uses a mouse instead of the right analog stick.

Now before you say 'that looks like a wii mote!' its not, and your an idiot.
1. http://www.splitfish.com/?uid=i1ns5pb1ulxg2l14
2. all they ddi was take a ps2/3 controller cut it in half, left the left side nearly intact with some shape modifications (to make it holdable on the left hand). The right side, they turned into a mouse, and moved the 4 shape buttons on the left side of the mouse.
I didn't even consider an xbox (orig) til a year after the 360 launch. There was a few titles I thought would be worth playing so I picked one up. Lasted about 3 days with it before I traded up for a 360. I was a Sony fanboy until then. Had a PS1 and a PS2 both since near launch. And I love the 360 controller. I didn't feel the transition period I was expecting. I have no problem with accuracy or screaming 13 yr olds (cuz I am one of the few that understands how to use the mute function if needed). Throw me in front of a mouse and keyboard and I am screwed. Just because one person can shoot the wings off of a fly in mid flight using a keyboard and mouse doesn't mean another can't do the same with a controller.

I don't believe I made any reference to your age at all. Try re-reading what I wrote.
Whoa there buddy, I think it's time for the meds. I was just making an entertaining comment that poked fun at my progression into my mid to late twenties. I guess you could say that about my entire rant...

Everyone Else said:
Wahh! The OP is a retarded bastard because he didn't do an indepth analysis of the game and its genre before posting his internet forum rant!
No shit. That's why it is called a rant. However, I did go back and add a sentence about my experience with Halo 3 to help with perspective. I have to go, your mum is calling.

Who the fuck thought that would be a good name for a phone?

Also, Killzone appears to have ridiculous amounts of motion blur, at least thats what I thought when I watched some gameplay. Did you find this to be the case?

First, the Motorola StarTac: Dude, they are Japanese. Awesome technology, wacky pop culture.

Second: Are you asking about motion blur in Resistance 2 or Killzone 2? I won't get the chance to play Killzone 2 until tonight. As far as Resistance 2 is concerned, I don't believe there is any motion blur during gameplay. Maybe it is the frame rate or the resolution, but I really had a problem "connecting" with this game and having a sense of bearings, if that makes sense. Whatever it is, it is something specific to Resistance 2, and not just a console FPS problem.

its because ur playing the game wrong. this isn't a cover game like gears of war, its a much more of a rushing game. i rarely used cover on hard and i just sailed through it, no problems at all. the cover they want you to use is the big shields that shoot out of the guns. before you start blaming the game try changing your playing style.

If you want request a review from Yahtzee, I think you should either be prepared to be ignored, or bring a legion of lambs.

I've never been that big of an FPS player to begin with. I'm not always bad at them, but they've never been my cup of tea. There are a few that I like,(Halo, Call of Duty 4,Fear was pretty good) but mostly they begin to bore me after a while. Halo did a good job of keeping things fun, though I never got around to finishing it before I sold my xbox, but all in all I usually get bored with FPS games. Also I think my problem is that there are so MANY fps games being released right now and many of them take ideas that I'd like to see implimented into other games. The storyline of that game where mythology becomes true (can't remember the name) or Timeshift or whatever it's called, both had good ideas but mostly they were just a side gimmick for when you get tired of shooting people.

I didn't really want to play Resistance 2 but I ended up playing a bit of it with my friends and or watching them play. I have to say it's actually a pretty cool game, though I would've compared it to the original Halo, at least slightly. It seems to have changed some from Resistance 1, though only in a few things. However I liked the weapons dual firemodes, they were pretty cool. Your review is a little bit harsh, but maybe thats the Yahtzee vibe you're going for (who, btw, will never read this, lol.)

As far as PC vs Console, it is and always will be your preference. You don't normally find games like Devil May Cry, or Super Mario Bros on the computer, these are the type of games I go for. Likewise, you (originally) wouldn't find RTS games or MMO's on a console. However, most of that has changed now and it's all up to preference. I grew up playing none shooters, so I can sort of adapt to either one. I don't really find that either a mouse+keyboard or a controller works better then the other, it's all down to personal style. I've got a laptop with a touchpad mouse and I can still play a fast paced shooting/slashing game like Gunz with almost no problems except for occasionally running around aiming at my own feet.

Run and Gun? Were you playing with God mode on, because even on normal I died after every third hit.

I think I know what you mean. If you're used to PC games, it could be that you sit farther back from the screen than usual. Maybe the it has to do with the fact that there isn't much variation in colours, maybe?

Well yeah, maybe it didn't translate very well.

I thought Resistance 2 owned, but that is my opinion. You are entitled to yours, but why ruin it for people who like the game by saying its bad?

there is no god mode, no cheats or anything, u just have to stratagize what gun you need the most and remember to always bring a shield gun.

The main complaints here are: Resistance 2 has frustrating trial and error gameplay.

I mostly like the old school, super linear approach resistance 2 takes to combat. Every fight feels epic and there is a sense of accomplishment to each victory. Even the developers knew it was an old school, arcade style approach, where quarters would be appropriate because they included an arcade mode, where you get limited lives. To me, R2 is like one of those top down arcade shooters(1942) but in the first person, and it's hella fun.

Plus the competitive multiplayer is better than other FPS's due to superior weapon balance, game modes, a well implemented perk system, and the fact that it doesn't take two bullets to kill someone(spawn points could use some work and the marksmen should be nerfed). In a world with left 4 dead world/Gears 2 horde, co-op just doesn't measure up.

Your personal lack of skill does not make a game bad, it just means you don't know how to play it correctly. As I said before, you went into this game with no idea of what to expect and hardly any skill with FPS games. Run through the campaign on casual once or twice, then try it on the next highest difficulty, then the next highest.
