While I am not all that into trophies or achievements, I don't mind getting them. and my OCD nags at me to get them. I resist.

1. The trophies you have two of a kind or more of in a game.

Essentially what I was talking about when referring to The Force Unleashed. Having to kill X amount of enemies with weapon 1, then do it all again with weapon 2.

Games guilty of this also include the Uncharted series.

2. Multiplayer exclusive trophies.

Now, I don't hate that they are multiplayer. I hate that they are a requirement to get a platinum trophy.

I'm a single player kinda guy, and it annoys me when I can't get the feeling of 100% a game because I don't play the online.
These. I don't play through multiplayer very often on games. And when I look at the list and there are some really easy ones to get if I played Multiplayer, it annoys me.

And the two of a kind for one thing, arg! I've shot 1,000 guys with the rifle, the pistol and the shotgun. Why do I now have to hunt down the mini gun and do this again?

Also, collecting arbitrary shit, like in Alan Wake. Coffee thermos collection? Why? So we can have a collection achievement. I don't mind when the collecting actually has to do with the game, like bobbleheads in Fallout, they give you stats and are related to the story. But just tossing stuff in to collect to add and achievement is annoying. Because I now feel the need to collect. Platformers should be the only games allowed to have arbitrary collecting.

Getting an achievement for getting through a cutscene or just a part of the game where you don't do fuck all. What do you exactly "achieve"?

Torchlight has an actual achievement for entering the dungeon. As in, walking up to the stairs into the place where the game happens, and clicking them.

and only 80-something percent of players have it, according to steam stats. Half Life 2, in turn, has something like 20% of people achieving similarly trivial tasks. I'm guessing people tend to play it offline more or something.

Achievements for killing so many enemies, or for completing missions. I'm fine with achievements for finishing the game proper, but having them at regular intervals throughout the game is silly.

- Unavoidable Trophies

Such as "complete level 2". Darksiders went one worse and gave 2 trophies for the same unavoidable event. The only ones i accept are for extremes like "Complete the game" and a similar trophy for the hardest difficulty.

- Interval Trophies

Trophies like "Collect 5 Items" "Collect 10 Items". I don't mind "Collect all Items" but i don't see why you'd want to use trophies as a fucking progress report.

- Repeating Trophies

Kind of like the Interval Trophies, but these are like "Kill 10 Enemies with X","Kill 10 Enemies with Y". It's the lazy mans way of making sure the player uses all of the weapons.

- Grinding Trophies

What I'm thinking here is things like "Kill 200 enemies" or "Punch 200 enemies". These either fall under 'unavoidable' or just flat out making the player grind.

- Waiting/Playtime Trophies

I'm sad to say I've seen a lot of these. Trophies that tell you to "Leave the game on idle for X hours" or "Reach X hours of playtime". I don't even need to explain why these are bad.

- Multiplayer Trophies

Multiplayer should never be mandatory. "Play with 4 players locally", that's just forcing me to rake up friends and buy more controllers, i shouldn't have to. Then there's "Do X during online multiplayer" which pretty much buggers anyone with a bad connection on their console or anyone playing after the servers die.

Dead Rising has the worst achievements ever.

"Kill x amount of zombies."
"Kill xx amount of zombies."
"Kill 53,594 zombies to get the Mega Blaster."
"Defeat at least 10 psychopaths."
"Get at least 50 survivors out of the mall."
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/dead-rising/guide/

Uh, fuck that. 50 survivors? I don't have the time or the patience.

Do __________ in _____ Multiplayer Mode

I have plenty of friends, you're not my mom Xbox devs and you cant make me interact with other humans!
I dislike Multiplayer achievements as well, except when multiplayer stands as the focus of the game. MW2, Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid HD, stuff like that should have mutiplayer achievements.

I'm sick of seeing such tedious and annoying achievements.
Well, those are achievements. Not necessarily the zombie count, but the "save everyone" thing is more or less the very definition of an achievement.

Also, In The Saboteur there are 1330 Nazi installations that you can destroy and in order to get all trophies you have to destroy 99% of them...I did it but I only enjoyed some of it. I had much more fun trying to get all gold perks.

The following are the worst ones in my opinion:

-Multiplayer related achievements (especially in games that possibly have nobody playing them anymore)
-Achievements which are there essentially to make you replay the game (such as 'unlock ending A/B/C/D etc.')
-Difficulty related achievements (I should be playing higher difficulties because I want a greater challange and feel I'm ready for it, not because I want to 100% the achievement list).
-Anything that can result in most players resorting to a guide (most notably are those which can only be done at a very precise moment in the game or those which revolve around locating hidden items in the game).
-Achievements that force a player to act in a way that they ordinarily wouldn't (for example, the neutral alignment achievements in Fallout 3, since neutral options in the game were rare players would often have to balance themselves between evil acts and good acts to keep themselves 'neutral').

Anything that requires online mode. I can't ever get most of them, because everyone keeps D/Cing when they start to lose.

I never tire from seeing an achievement unlocked. However, I fucking hate online multiplayer achievements. If half the achievements of a game require Xbox Live, then I'll play it for the singleplayer and get my money back (or store credit).

Any achievement that isn't completing the single player portion of the game. I want achievements for progression, not stupid side shit or multiplayer you put in your shit game to make it longer because it was shit.

Wait... trophies and achievements actually compel you guys to do things? Why? They're arbitrary goals created by lazy devs, and completion carries no tangible rewards.

I must admit I'm not an achievement hunter and that they have never really influenced the way I play a game. My train of thought is rather oldschool in that I complete a game and that's it. If I get an achievement then it is accidental.

This makes a lot of multiplayer achievements like on Xbox (I refuse to pay to play games online) redundant anyway.
