OP: I'm nineteen, so legally I'm an adult. However, I wouldn't consider myself to be an adult.

Do I have your attention? Good.
Do you lot realise how many of you "adults" have flamed/laughed at Demented Teddy for claiming that we teenagers on here are maturer than the average teenager?
Do you think we'd still be here if we weren't? No, we'd be banned with the trolls and other idiots.
You mightn't have noticed, but when you read someone's post on these forums, you can't tell whether they are a teenager or an adult. And if we aren't mature, what does that say about the adults? You lot must be as immature as you claim WE are.
And believe me, you're showing it.
I think something could stand to be explained and I'm going to do my best to get you to see what they are laughing at.
When I was sixteen(I'm only nineteen now, so not that long ago), I was mature. Well, I was mature in the sense that most of the teenage escapists here consider themselves mature. I could hold an intelligent conversation, think logically, and behave in an adult manner. I'm certain that most of the adult escapists here completely believe that you can do all of that, that you are that kind of mature.
However, there is another kind of maturity. Maturity that comes with experiencing life. That doesn't mean that when you get old you will automatically become mature in this manner, no. In fact, you can go your entire life without really experiencing it. This is the type of maturity that comes from living on your own, forming meaningful relationships, and having to deal with being viewed as an adult by the rest of the world(I've got a taste of that and it's definitely not as great as most of the teenagers think). It's our generations lack of this kind of maturity, and the fact that so few of us seem to notice the difference, That is making them laugh. I'm certain, having been through what they have, it's damn hilarious to see a bunch of young High School/Early Uni students proclaiming that they are mature.
If it's still a little murky, think about the difference between book smart and street smart.

relax and try to remember this is just a forum on the internet. No reason to get upset or overly defensive. [/sup][/sup][/sup]
