I would have to assume that most of the Escapist staff and moderators are adults as well, so you aren't the only one to post in these forums.

It would be hell trying to find a house when there are barely any jobs to be found.
Although I know a place I can get a job, but I have other business to attend to before I go back to that job...

I agree with you.
But if some people on this thread want to prove so badly that they aren't mature, that's their problem. So Feth them.

We're pretty mature here...

Oh, fuck it. I'm fifteen years old, immature as I was in the third grade, and damn proud!

Sooooo, if you've graduated College but are unable to find employment and therefore are living with your family because, well, that's what you can afford, you're not an adult?

So I guess I should go be a hobo and my sister should take her child and find a place to live that, well, sucks and basically cancel pre-school for my niece since all the bills would go to a place to live.

Guess involuntary unemployment is just one of those childish things I need to grow out of

On topic, I'm 24 and consider myself an adult. I'm not happy having to live at home, but honestly, I'll probably stick around for a while after I find one simply because it would make paying off loans and other crap easier so I could save up for a better place to live. The concept that independence makes you an adult is, in fact, a childish one. So go original poster!
I didn't mean to suggest that the involuntarily unemployed were less than adult. That was careless of me and I apologize if I offended you or anybody else. I was merely trying to illustrate that I consider being 'adult' to mean more that being 18+. I should have articulated my thoughts better. Sincerely sorry.

I'm new here and have only been posting for a few days. Today I checked out a few profiles and noticed most of the people here are in their teens. Now I'm starting to feel like a weirdo for being here. Are there any grown-ups here? (By grown-up I mean independent, living apart from your parents, credit cards, keys, the whole shebang.)
Hey! Your thread title said ADULT escapists :( why do only people who are independent cocunt as adults?

Anyways I'm 18 but I've always felt like an adult in some way.

There are some of us here, although I personally am feeling a little bit like a manchild for still coming to a forum where there are billions of threads asking how a guy can force a girl to like him without ever actually interacting with her and where I once saw a post that read, I shit you not, "my parents can be such noobs when it comes to computers."

But I guess I'll stick around until I find something better.

Hah.

Hahahahahahahahaha.

Hah.
What's so funny? I'm 17 and probably more intelligent than most adults will be in their lives.

And so modest, too.

I'm 23, but currently living with my parents, so I guess I don't fit in with your idea of what adulthood is...I have my own keys and everything...I was so close.

I did think it was rather weird myself.

I'm currently in my early 20's, but thanks to unemployment, I'm not truly independent.

Unless I go see about getting a home in a council estate, but considering the state of the one I grew up in, that's about as appealing to me as getting run over by a large truck.

I fulfill all those requirements... Except the credit card-part. I have two bank accounts with attached debit cards, but I don't have a credit card because I don't like shopping with money I don't have. Am I still grown-up?

I'm 26, but still at university 'cos I only started when I was 23 - for some stupid reason I thought it'd be a good idea to work for a few years after leaving school.

So... yeah, legally an adult here, and living away from home. But, mature and responsible? That's a whole different matter. Not married (nor will I ever be, if I have my way) and no kids, can't afford a credit card.

Well I'm 18, and in the US I'm considered an adult.
But seeing as how I turned 18 5 months ago I still live with my parents.

I really don't care about age, all it does is cause older people to become so full of themselves its rediculous.

Yeah right. :D

I have the philosophy that if you have to tell or convince people about how mature you are, you are effectively very immature. I see this all the time IRL, damn kids who honestly think they're grown-up and whatnot, yet you still have to play "here comes the airplane! Open up!" if you wanna have oral.

HARR, please, don't get offended by that people, I already know what it's like to be on probation.
Offended? Thats hilarious!

I don't care if that makes me immature, its funny.
