No, they only said Shepard's story will end with ME3. They actually said that they will continue developing games in the Mass Effect universe. Hence, although we know that future ME games will not have you playing as Shepard, we will see some spinoff games.wrecker77 said:

I can see ME mirroring the Halo series pretty closely. The end of the trilogy, then an RTS, then a prequel or two.
You play as a different character, perhaps alongside a younger Shepard (before he/she became Commander). You could upload your previous ME save data so Shepard would still look the way you created him/her to be. I dunno, there are so many possibilities for great expansions, much moreso than most other games out there.

How about an RTS that, in campain, shows various different wars (First Contact War, Morning War, Rachni War, etc), with the relevant factions, but skirmishes/multi opens up all factions. It might be difficult to balance with so many different factions, but I think Bioware could do it. It would have to be space-based, though. Very few of the wars weren't 99% space-ships, if memory serves.
I wouldn't mind a game focused on the Quarians that not only explained but also let you experience the whole gamut of what went on with them and thier creations the Geth.
Or alternatively your MalShep decides to get it on with Tali? Ensure your child looks like a Human/Quarian mix (though that begs the suit or no suit question) with future technology. No procedure is too outlandish for the savior of the galaxy right?Arisato-kun said:

THIS^ Seriously, ask any fan of the original Silent Hill series what happens when the series is dragged on beyond it's expiration date. There are exceptions (such as James Bond 007) but I don't know. I have no ideas on what other paths they could take the series down...secondwizard117 said:

First Contact War, please. You play the first half of the game as a human colonist on Shanxi, and the second as a Turian soldier attacking the colony. Maybe there could even be an alternate-timeline ending where the Council didn't stop the war and it continued somehow.
If they make a Mass Effect MMO, I will hurt somebody.
I wish they'd let the series die peacefully with a third game. The last thing I want is for it to be like the five million Halloween movies, or the I-don't-know-how-many Halo games. It makes me frustrated to see Bioware wanting to milk the franchise for every last teeny tiny little droplet of coin instead of looking for new and creative IPs to dig into, which I think is much braver and bolder.
