Well, too be honest I DONT want this to come to a religious debate thread(but it probaly will)

I am a christian and I've come to accept the fact that most escapist members are atheists, which i do not mind much anymore. My question to everyone is what do you want to happen to you when you die?

Not what you THINK will happen to you, what you would WANT to happen to you. Make up your own religion basically, tell us what you want to happen, do you want to remain in an everlasting sleep, reincarnate in some form, reach some kind of promised land, etc.

The choice is yours-PLEASE no flaming

What I want? Look over my mistakes and take them with me in my next lifetime, hoping to do better whatever I did wrong.

What I suspect is that we'll float in limbo, thoughts and senses shut down.

I consider myself christian, but I like to believe in a system of reincarnation much like the buddhist ideas of karma.

It doesnt matter, for now ill just deal with this life.
I was going to say something along the lines of what I would want to happen, but then this reminded me of my philosophy. People are too preoccupied with the after.

I want a room with a bed, a chair and an awesome computer that has wow installed, and it has to be connected to the real worlds internet.
And have a working headset.

What do I WANT to happen to me when I die? Well, to be honest, nothing. I don't want to be reincarnated because this world is rotten, I absolutely hate our planet and the people within (There are a handful of people whom of which I don't hate)

I want my mind to be preserved. Anything more than that is just a bonus.

Ideally- a pretty awesome afterlife, a universe by your mental construction. (I would make it like the Elder Scrolls universe XD)

Most likely?- Nothing, when your dead your dead- eternal unconsciousness. :(

I hope something comes from the research into Near-Death Experiences (NDE'S), but it to early to draw any conclusive conclusions from there.

nb- NDE's- not an accurate term, because the people reporting NDE's have been verified to be clinically dead (not near dead)- this means no brain activity while doctors attempt to resuscitate the patient. The big question of course is, how on earth do people have NDE's when their brain was not functioning?

I wouldn't mind comming back in another form with my memories still intact from this life time to preserve the knowledge I've gained. Also the chance to study everything and watch everything grow from the moment there was "existance" to the very end of it would be thrilling. To see every second at any location regardless of where or when it was. I'd really loveto belive this is what happens but something deep down tells me that I will go back to being what I was before this and thats the aftermath of a star. Nothing more then the matter that makes up my body dispersing through natural means of decomposition.

Far as I know, your mind is destroyed when your brain dies. Not eternally unconscious: dead as in nonexistent. No clouds and angels. No being revived as a cute bunny rabbit. No bitching about how you died. No joy, suffering, judgement, or reflection.

Some people say that because energy can't be destroyed, and brain contains energy, that the mind can not die. But I know that when things break, they cease to be what they were. It doesn't matter if an electron used to be part of a person if it isn't. Smash your hard drive into microscopic bits with your hammer. Even if you keep every grain of dust, your porn collection is irreversibly gone. The dust has no meaning.

There isn't a reason for me to believe otherwise. Why should I delude myself? Even if I wanted to believe differently, it wouldn't matter.

Well i'd love to be brought back in some superior world. Not like a heaven or utopia, just somewhere better and more interesting than ours.

Atheist means you don't believe in any deity (so it doesn't bar religion), fatalist i think means you have no belief in any supernatural at all. What's the name for us who don't embrace religion but still have faith in something beyond the physical?

On topic: Reincarnation sound nice and purposeful. I don't think I'm up for prancing around in some paradise for eternity though. I would probably go nuts by that.
