How much did the gear cost? And how long did it take for you to accumulate it?
I don't have the exact numbers, but I have come up with a reasonable good guess, keep in mind this price includes every thing, that means guns, clothing and extra things like a radio.
The total price is just about 9242,2 USD

And it took me just about two and a half years to get it all.

Edit:Sorry just noticed that you were only asking about the clothing, that's 2283,5 USD

Well... some of the guys I play with makes me feel the same way, you wouldn't belive the amount of money they spend on it. And I edited my response it's 2283,5 USD for the clothing, I thought you asking about it all, not just the clothing.

Huh, since I'm going for MW2's Shadow Company look, it's mostly just Coyote Brown and Black. So it roughly goes to about $400 to $500, and that's NOT including the weapons, magazines, magpuls, and BBs... Which would bring it to a grand total of between $900 and 1G... So meh, I just have to keep saving up paychecks. And I can't order all the gear at once, my parents are paranoid about anything being seized by U.S Customs... >.>

BEWARE - spoiler tags hide many and big pictures. And yes, it amuses me to pixelate anything and everything.

Let's see... I'm less a skirmisher and more a milsimmer/LARPer, so playing the character is more important for me - as a result, I have a set of gear for every occasion. Off the top of my head:

- Royal Military Police (DPM and Desert DPM battle order, DPM working dress, barrack dress, #2 Service Dress) - assembled with the aid of RHQ RMP, which was nice of them.
- British military (generic)
- US Army MP (can't remember which regiment)
- Various police and SWAT gear, including STARS/RPD and several versions of low-profile close protection.
- NASA Kennedy Space Center SWAT
- Stargate SG-1 (the show, not the team)
- Various fictional police and military setups

And of course one of my favourites:

My arsenal is similarly expansive; after all, the gun you carry can say just as much about the character as the clothes you wear. Couldn't find good pics of all the guns, though.

- SPRINGERS: KSC Beretta 92FS, KSC Sig P226, TM Franchi SPAS 12

- GAS SHOTGUN: Maruzen Remington M870 BV

- GBB PISTOLS: HFC M190 Special Force, TM Sig P226R, KJW H&K USP Tactical, KJW Glock 27, KJW Glock 32C, KJW Beretta M9, KJW Para-Ordnance P14.45, KJW Sig P226R (yes, I like the P226)

- AEG: TM H&K G36C, CA H&K MP5A2 (old style, with Surefire forend and Aimpoint sight), CA H&K MP5A3 (new style, with Surefire forend), KSC H&K HK33K (with 3-9x30mm scope or Aimpoint sight), Star L85A2 with SUSAT sight, G&G GR16R4 carbine (converted to SPR Mk12 Mod0 and fitted with 3-10x40mm scope, Harris bipod, canted Docter sight and suppressor)

Oh, and a post-VCRA Galaxy H&K MP5K-PDW. In lime green.

I try not to think about how much it's all cost, but all in all a good chunk over £10,000. Given how rarely I manage to get to a game, I wonder if I might not have been better off buying a monster computer and a couple of spare 40K armies....

EDIT: No, I wouldn't. I like my airsoft kit. ;-)

I've only been airsofting once, but if I go again I'm gonna try to get my hands on a ghillie suit. I borrowed one from a friend the first time, and it's basically an invisibility cloak in the right location. People just walk right by you.

So it's actually really hard to avoid orange tips in the UK
I reckon it's balls for surprise tactics though, those orange tips are a dead give-away.

I'd like to get into airsofting myself, but it's downright illegal in the Netherlands. Sometimes I can't stand this country.
Just cover the tip with black duck tape for duration of game, then peal it off when outside game area for legal reasons, solved

Yeah, too bad it's illegal in Aussielands D:
Best we have is paintball, but I dislike getting covered in paint. Also have 'laser strike' pretty much outdoor laser tag with hiding in tres for camping lols.

I don't play too much anymore but when I did I used to use a few...

an Aftermath Orphus Socom M14 for my main weapon...

and a KJW 1911 for a side arm...

and than I had my reenactment set...

An AGM MP40...

and, this one was my favorite... A Walther P38...

Fair enough. I kinda assumed you were from the UK. I got my D. Eagle before the restrictions thankfully but it's all I have :(
But wouldn't it be possible to buy a two tone then spray the green (or whatever) black?
That makes it an illegal item to own, you know, you could start a Airsoft team with your buddies.

I've wanted to get started, but the gun I wanted (Well L96) is around £100 so I'm holding out for my birthday.

I hadn't realised that made it illegal as the wording of the law makes it illegal to sell not to buy. So te vendor is at fault not the buyer.

But apparently a lot of people just remove the orange tag once they've bought the gun, which make it illegal for them too

And for the money, couldn't you try checking ebay for a cheap one?

I'm turning 18 this fall, so I'm planning to buy a full metal blowback pistol.

Reading this thread makes me so happy that airsoft guns don't have to have orange tips where I live.
Seriously, they look ridiculous. Like some children's toy.

That said, I own three spring action plastic thingies.

It doesn't have that thing on the tip though.
0.3-0.5 joule and non-automatic action just doesn't feel satisfactory :(

The problem is that you run the risk of

1) It not being two-tone (I'm 14, so I can't exactly go to a UKARA site)
2) Being in shit maintenance from someone who didn't properly lubricate, clean e.t.c...

And my birthday's on the 3rd of July so it's no big wait.

I should start airsofting a bit, though all my money currently goes to acquiring firearms (Texas FTW!) So what do ya'll think is a good brand to start with?

Also one of my rigs, I use it for shooting competitions and hiking trips when we bring firearms with us.

Surely you'd want it to not be two tone so it looks better and is harder to spot if you go skirmishing?

And you could just check the pictures they upload to ebay to make sure it's how you want, but you do still run the risk of it being faulty.

I can't go skirmishing though, I'm 14 so I can become UKARA registered for another 4 years, so I have to buy a two-tone weapon.

I'm fairly new to airsofting; I haven't actually gone skirmishing yet, but I'm all geared up to do so.

Here's some pics of my guns.

I recently got a Vertical Grip for this gun, but I'm too lazy to go take a picture of it :p

I've got BDUs with mag pouches and a Load Bearing Vest with mag pouches as well. I'm hoping to go skirmishing soon after I accumulate a bit more gear (a sling and black flash hider for the rifle are the main things I want).

I find it hilarious that it's illegal to ship an Airsoft gun without the orange tip, yet it's legal to purchase realistic ones and replace the orange with the black. Hooray for loop holes! :D
