The Amazing Spider-Man has been one of those reboots that a lot of fans haven't been too sure about, especially after the mess of Spider-Man 3.
What was wrong with Spider-Man 3 exactly? Only watched the first one and clueless about what happened in the second.
Can be summed up in one scene.

DUDE THIS GAME LOOKS AWESOME AND IS SOOOO REALISTIC IN THE CUT SCENES WHERE YOU PLAY PETER PARKER AND...

Oh... wait a second.. a movie? A reboot? Over an origin story we've ALREADY been through less than 10 years ago?! First off, anyone doing Green Goblin better than Willam DeFoe is going to be like trying to do the Joker better than Heath Ledger. Good luck with that soon to be "actor whose performance will always be compared to that of being worse than Willam DeFoe's original character a mere decade ago.

Also, I already hate the new Peter Parker. Sorry, dude looks like a douche. I'll watching this entire movie on dvd hoping he plummets to his doom the entire time. When it doesn't happen, a disappointing film will become even more disappointing.

The whole "Dark Spiderman cause it's like Twilight!" crap annoys me the most. Spiderman is bright.. colorful, he's got jokes and he deals with serious crap but it's always a fun and lighthearted superheroic read. SPIDERMAN is NOT Batman. Two different things. Don't try to MAKE him BATMAN. Especially not without Chris Nolan directing it. Or at least Neill Blomkamp.

I'm already predicting this will make a butt-ton of cash for the Studio, but WRECK spiderman for anyone who actually enjoyed it before it got "Hollywood-ized"

Toby Mcguire fit Peter Parker more, he actually looked like someone that would've been socially outcast during highschool
This guy just looks like a pretty boy, where it makes no sense as to why he wouldn't be liked and seems to be ridiculously mopey, instead of being the funny and intelligent Spiderman we all know and love
The thing is that Peter Parker in the comics was never really a social outcast. He was one of those 80's movies geeks style geeks who everyone says is unnattractive but is actually a supermodel when he takes off his glasses. He was attractive, charming and funny enough to have three (or four) different woman interested in him, Gwen Stacey, Mary Jane, Felicia Hardy and Betty Brant. And from what I hear he actually wisecracks in this version and so while the tone seems all emo, he may be more fun than Tobey Mcguire's character.

They're actually taking a leaf from Batman's book and having a lessor villain The Lizard in this one and saving Green Goblin for later film. I think there's one man who could outdo Willam Defoe and that's...

OMG YES! Its the spidey that makes his own web formula!
No.. I think according to the trailer, he's now going to start shooting it out of the back of his neck.

Hopefully, AROUND his neck..

This stuff gets made, but still no "Spawn 2."

What exactly IS McFarlane doing with that license?

I figured they wouldn't actually HAVE the Goblin until the end of the movie. I'm just thinking ahead... I know it's coming because of all the Oscorp scenes.

I'm just predicting that they'll probably break the Goblin out in Amazing Spiderman 2.

And while I think Tommy Lee Jones might have MADE a great Norman Osbourne... have you seen the dude lately? He's older than dirt! There's no way I could see him as a believable Goblin unless it's the Ultimate Spiderman version, so they can replace his old man body with a CGI monster. Which... will probably happen...

Angst + Mirror's Edge gameplay footage.

Why does this movie exist? :(
Ok, so I was going to comment and say that everyone should stop whining about the whole "Mirror's Edge" thing because ANYONE can do a free-run through a cityscape in a move if they want to, it's not copyrighted or anything...

Then I saw that video and I have to admit it's remarkably similar. So I retract my previous statement. Damn.

Although I'm pretty impressed that someone made the connection AND got a video of it up so quickly!

Difficulty: Tommy Lee Jones was just in an actually good superhero movie (which incidentally had this trailer preceding it). The entire reason for this film's existence is purely cash-in; Sony doesn't expect a good movie, they just need to make any Spider-Man movie so they can keep the rights. Because the second that those rights lapse, Marvel will snap them back up and add everyone's favorite wall-crawler to the Avengers 'verse.

Yea....this trailer was the worst part of Captain America.

Whereas The Avengers trailer BLEW MY FREAKING MIND. Best post-credits thing ever.

Uhum....so it's basically like The Hulk (2003) and The Incredible Hulk (2008) comparison?

Wait, what? Why?

Why is there another Spiderman Movie already?

Seriously we can't even wait a few more years? Was this REALLY necessary?
Did you see Spider-Man 3? I think everyone who did will do anything they can to rid themselves of that movie's memory.

The only good part about this trailer was the final bit with the first person perspective. It was nicely done, though it needs a lot more work in the quality compartment. Everything else might just as well have been lifted from Raimi's films ...

I wonder if Spidey is going to be in the Avengers roster for the movie that comes out next year.

To everyone complaining about the first person perspective at the end, didn't they do a first person perspective to reveal the costume from the original Spiderman movies? I have no idea, it's been so long since I've seen it.

OT: It looks pretty nifty. I'm not opposed to a more darker, mature, or "edgy" if you prefer, take on Spiderman. We did that with Batman, remember how that turned out [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/]?

The original Spiderman movies were pretty campy, as were the original Batman movies. Whenever there's something that tries to be a bit darker or whatever, everyone always screams "Emo! Angsty! Edgy!" when, really, I view it more as some emotion. The kid lost his parents, lives with his aunt and uncle, and is generally a loser at school. Wouldn't you be a bit mopey?

Now, we have no idea how the movie will turn out. Could be awesome, okay, bad, whatever. Though I do think people have a tenancy to be aprehensive towards any change. Really, the original Spiderman movies weren't that great. (for some reason, I'm reminded of this [http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic/29737-the-top-11-dumbest-spiderman-moments]. He brings up interesting points)
I agree with you generally. I was always a loyal spiderman man as a kid, and was kind of disappointed with the movies (although you could debate that i just had unreasonable standards). Regardless, it just seemed that everything was overly 'kid-friendly'. I could barely stand it. "Look! It's spiderman! Save my balloon!" Yuck...

Spiderman 2 was the best of the lot by far imo; many liked the first one. I don't know...I really like the dark feel of Nolan's Batman movies. If they could pull off a dark Spiderman, it'd be what I wanted the original movies to be like...

Actually if you go to 2:10 in the trailer, it clearly shows he has a web blaster. That web coming out of his neck was where the spider bit him in the beginning.

The first person seems like a poor choice to me and the character looks miscast but it could be worse. He could be dancing in the street with a terrible haircut.
Don't worry, we'll be sure to get all the rest of Emo-Peter's antics in place of a god-aweful dance scene. I predict that this movie will make Spider-Man 3 look like genius.

That.. was horrible.

Seriously, that trailer almost makes me like Spiderman 3 compared to it, and that is not a good thing. Although, I'll reserve final judgement for a more comprehensive one, but still.. horrible.
