Did you really ever expect it to be good? Resetting Spider-man so that we could see him in high school? A blind man could have seen that they were going to try to cash in on the fucking Twilight phenomenon. I've been predicting this would be terrible ever since they booted Raimi off the project and decided to reboot. The only reason 3 failed was because of executive meddling forcing him to rewrite the entire movie to include Venom with the deadline looming overhead. Personally, I'm sick of the whole reboot thing Hollywood has going on. Let us fucking move on!

On the upside, this trailer has made me feel less upset about Bane's hideous mask in the Dark Knight Rises teaser.

Why can't more superhero movies follow Incredible Hulk's example and get the origin story out of the way in the title credits? Especially someone like Spider-Man, who is up there with Superman and Batman for the most well-known origin stories.

The nonsense about Spider-Man's parents being spies or whatnot is the DUMBEST part of his ever-retconned backstory, it does NOT need to be dragged into the movies; and I've got a terrible feeling that there's going to be some kind of coverup/conspiracy thing happening with the new origin.
My thoughts... not to the letter, but close enough. If I were you, I would be making another "Comic's are WEIRD" episode to explain to everyone how in the comics they were secret agents and how they were brought "back."

That will scare anybody from seeing this movie.
I also got a rather odd Ang Lee's Hulk vibe during that part where you see Peter as a little kid and his parents discussing somekind of secret. Is it really necessary to make Spider-Man into something it isn't. Can't they just have Parker be an akward nerd who is casually bitten by a mutated spider?... Oh wait they did that in the first movie.

Why is this disgustingly blatant cash-in reboot necesarry again? ...<.<... Oh, right.

And again the actor sucks... first time around they went with a moron that didn't exactly fit and totally ruined the third movie... now they're going with a "Twilight"-type "teen idol"...
For fuck's sake, he was wearing a goddamned hoodie...

Too bad he has to wear a mask as Spiderman. The villain backstory would be easy as pie to write. Probably half the people who see him on the street want to smash his face in and they don't even need to be made entirely of sand, get spliced with some kinda lizard or be covered in black ooze from space to do it.

Here's hoping Garfield tests so badly they have to change the scene from the trailer so he faceplants into that building, dies, and his remains infect a window cleaner/coroner who becomes a less loathsome Spiderman for the rest of the movie.

I don't mind the lack of spiderman because.
1. It's an origins story
2. Spiderman will be CGI and as we can clearly see from what there was, with a year to go the CGI just aint ready yet

That last sequence is some goddamned appalling CGI.
Quote see above. As far as I know, in terms of movies, people are working on the CGI pretty much throughout production. This is like alpha CGI. Heck when pirated versions get released(illegally) a few months early none of the special affects are finished

Wait, what? Why?

Why is there another Spiderman Movie already?

Seriously we can't even wait a few more years? Was this REALLY necessary?
In that Sony loses the license if they don't make a film by pretty much then, yes.

also did anyone else realize the web coming from his neck? is that where he spins them out cause at time 2:13 it looks like a device is in place on his wrist to redirect it.
I'm guessing that's where the spider bit him, dunno what the web coming out means though.

After the last three battered away every ounce of hope I had for even a decent Spider-man film I am cautious. The actor looks closer to Peter than the last guy, but I do agree the effects still look as cheap and bad as previous films. Wait and see on this, although I am happy Gwen is in this as opposed to Mary Jane given it is early days of the character.

Ugh, Garfield just looks wrong in the role. He looks neither awkward nor geeky. Oh but I suppose he must be because he wears glasses (sometimes) and his hood up inside. Look at how different he is!
Screw you Hollywood.
And while you're at it, give us some actual film footage rather than something taken from the (inevitable) game of the movie for your parkour set-piece

This trailer sure had a lot of Peter Parkour.
GROAN!

Anyway, I'm nonplussed. Not sure if it was the First Person scene (hate that), the fact that it seems a retread of the first modern Spidey, or specifically that the actor sounds like he's trying to be Tobey, but...Uggggh!

Replacing Live-Action with CGI is still a horrible idea, hollywood. It's so ugly and floaty.
The neck thing was odd, is that meant to be the spider's arse on his neck? It looks nasty and makes me squirm.
And the story looks like a stupid attempt at retelling. We don't give a fuck about his parents. Stop paying so much attention to Spider Man's backstory; it's a shitty backstory.

The only problem with the last series was corporate meddling. They're trying to fix that with corporate meddling.

I think the Trailer looks terrible. It seems like they are trying to make Spiderman dark and edgy and Mysterious. Ooooh his parents are DEEEAAAADDD whats the big mystery behind it... No one cares.

In the comics his parents deaths almost never come up because thats not what Spiderman is about. Its about a guy who has absolutely no luck but keeps pressing on and trying to have fun and make other people's lives better.

The only good thing is that you can see a web shooter during the bad first person segment. That and they're playing up the mom and pop Parker were spies?

Yes his mom and dad were part of SHIELD but what does that have to do with Spiderman unless the're trying to do the Ultimate Spiderman movie where his dad was partly responsible for his powers which I always hated , but looks like they are doing.

I wish this wasn't an origin story. Spiderman is like Batman and Superman, everyone pretty much knows there origin and repeating it for 40 odd minutes before some action and plot is boring. You could easily explain Spiderman in eight words much like Grant Morrison did in All Star Superman (Doomed planet. Desperate scientists. Last hope. Kindly couple).

Lets see:
Lonely Teenager. Radioactive Spider. Great Power. Great Responsibility.
