As shit as the American Office. As shit as the American Red Dwarf... Hell, as shit as Friends after you've seen Coupling!
Coupling! *fist bumps you* Best thing to come out of England since Tea. The actress who plays Jane is in this new series called Leverage, it's pretty good and she still acts mildy psycopathic in it.
Coupling: written by....Steven Moffat, who also writes...

Much as I agree with your latter two examples, I found the original version of the office to be highly overrated. I actually prefer the American one.

That's...

That is, honest to God, the worst f*****g idea I've ever heard. I mean, seriously-- I beats out making a Twilight Princess movie.

But do you know what really makes it horrible? The fact that Fox would be doing it.

Suicide guns at the ready, men.

Time to break out the old Tissue Compression Eliminator?

As has been stated above, they've tried this before - there was a straight-to-TV film starring Paul McGann (who I did like as the Doctor, incidentally, despite how hideously awful the film was) intended to market the show to American networks. It didn't work.

Get over it.

The general public of America doesn't seem to know other cultures exist so let the majority be annoying and the decent folk be embarrassed.

The only reason it's not like that everywhere else is because no country has as big an influence as the USA.
The fact every other country is asking America to pay up for it's debts helps too

Torchwood could work as an American show but Doctor Who would not, especially since this is Fox we're talking about. Due to the Torchwood/ Doctor Who crossovers I think they'd have trouble explaining the plot but then again, it's Fox, why would they give a shit?

Really? It was the same script, just with people who had far worse comic timing in roles that weren't written for them. What made The Office was the fact that it was believable, and the actors they got for the American one made me very aware I was watching a TV show, not a documentary.

A bit irrelevant, but it was also Steven Moffat who, of all possible words, chose 'Geronimo' as a catchphrase so...

OT: Oh please Lord no.

I think we're talking Stazer Rifles for this. With Nitro-9 backup grenades.

Even if it was HBO, I could begin to accept the idea. But Fox? That's like giving it to Channel 5 or L!VE TV.

Torchwood USA: It might work, but I'm not fussed either way.

Doctor Who USA: No. No, no, no, no. It just won't work.

No, no, no and finally no. American remakes of British TV shows almost always go poorly because the British wit is infinitely greater than the American one (and I'm American) plus everything is better with an English accent.

Edit: after reading the article I feel that torchwood could be okay if the original cast and writers come over (although it sucks for the Brits if they leave) but that there is no way doctor who could ever work, it would be like an American version of top gear (which was supposed to be made by NBC, luckily it was canceled.)

Now I have to disagree here. Sorry. Check out these two lists:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_television_series_based_on_British_television_series
against this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_US_television_series_remade_for_the_British_market

We've ruined as many good shows as the American market has.

But yeah, Life On Mars/Red Dwarf was awful; however...Scrapyard Challenge/Junkyard Wars worked pretty well on both sides of the pond.

1: Doctor Who is owned by the BBC. Despite them having no plans to revive it for years they resisted all efforts to license it to anywhere else. Now that it has been successfully revived don't count on them relocating or re-licensing it to anyone else, ever. They have owned it since 1963 and are not about to give it up.

2: Russell T. Davies is relocating to America, and the central character (and indeed pretty much the only remaining character) is American. The largely by-now-accepted rumour is that Torchwood will therefore be moving to the US. This is not a remake, but a continuation weith a relocation. I, for one, see absolutely no problem with that.

I certainly wouldn't like it; I've got no problem with Americans but for some reason anything they remake is always worse somehow - like its media thinks its audience won't understand what's going on if it hasn't been massively dumbed down

Is it just me, or does this seem like a bad idea? Also, why are there so many attempts to Americanize British TV shows?
Because British TV is awesome, and America is jealous.

And really, if FOX go ahead and somehow manage to get people to agree with this idea that must have come into existence during a mass piss up, I will cry tears of such pure sadness that babies all over the world will react and all cry in unison.

EDIT - Torchwood on the other hand, I couldn't care less about. I really stopped caring when they killed off my favourite character, God rest her soul. >:

But really, an American Doctor would be terrible. It would be like...World War III. If all the enemy soldiers were steroid pumping velociraptors with flamethrowers and lasers. That had midgets riding them.

Americans stealing something good, changing it to suit themselves and calling it their own? Sounds about right. *cough* English language *cough*
