Considering how we currently treat alchohol, of corse it's a bane. I haven't flip-flopped a damn thing. And I never said THE bain, you illiterate twit. I had merely forgotten about the potential medical advantages, and I thank the one who reminded me.
Please, do not resort to name calling, as you will be reported. I didn't call you any names, let's try to keep it civil. Now, who is the "we" you are referring to?

Why do I really need first-hand experience to understand a drunk? It's over-glamorized life-style, which means any more knowlege of the subject would actually make me dumber."Losing some favor" is inevitable. While it's true that I could stand to be more agreeable with responsible/non-drinkers, but I wouldn't want to get along with the irresponsible drinkers anyway.
I don't see being a drunk as glamorized, but then again, I live in a large city, where you cannot walk two feet without stepping over an inebriated man. And by no stretch ever would more knowledge on a subject make you dumber. I fail to see the logic in that. By your reasoning, I must be a total idiot because I drink a lot. However, this is not true. Not only do I work two jobs and make a substantial amount of money, I raise my two kids nearly full time, pay my bills/mortgage, and I am working on a script to shop around.
It isn't black and white. Not everyone who drinks is a drunk, not every drunk is stupid. Your argument places you in the category of being vehemetly opposed to drinking, and it affects your ability to see all possible scenarios, much like drinking alcohol.
