Probably somewhere in the UK or Ireland. I've got the skin for it (I'm mostly Irish). Not sure if my wife would go for it though. She likes the 1st and 2nd Amendments we have here.

I suppose my other plan is to find an unclaimed island and start my own country. With Blackjack, and Hookers! In fact, forget the Country and the Blackjack. Ah, screw the whole thing.

Oh Canada, my home and native land... True patriot love in all our hearts command...

My mother was born in Canada, so they'd probably let me in.
It's "in all thy sons command," eh?
Huh. Yeah, apparently that's the official version.

Though evidently I'm not the only one who learned it the "wrong" way:

Canada (Western) - I mean, who doesn't like Canada?

Scotland - heard many a good things about Scotland. Seems like it would be fun and interesting place to live
That depends do you consider being accosted by heavily intoxicated people who even if they where sober you wouldn't be able to understand and possibly getting stabbed ,a lot a good thing.Well there that and there's the rain. That said I still love my country I just don't for the life of me know why.

Within 10 posts, someone said "Europe" as though it was a homogenous nation-state. I was checking for that. It makes me... not sad, really. Disappointed.

I'm not casting aspersions on everyone, but... really?
Being European (Malta) I was just about to call them out on that, favouring a capital city no less. Then again some residents of the US may find it difficult to grasp a concept of so many countries sharing a landmass as we'd have trouble picking a state to live in. For example, if I said Los Angeles or Memphis...

Ireland speaks near-English, so I think I could get by on my current language skills.
Or, I think I could pick German up soon enough, if I really applied my self.
Northern Ireland speaks near-English (i.e. "Cahn i hae somme patatees wit me Guinness?")
The Republic of Ireland speaks Irish, which is its own language.
Actually Irish is a second language in the Republic. Everyone has to do a leaving cert (high school qualification) in Irish. But its very VERY rare u'll find someone who doesnt speak English.

Australia - The continent has giant fucking spiders. Along with wildlife that is bred to kill everything in the scariest ways possible. And did I mention the giant fucking spiders? Yeah, no.
Cracked has kind of overplayed the whole 'continent of death' thing. I mean, yeah, there are a whole lot of horrifically poisonous spiders, snakes and sea creatures, but you really don't see them that often in populated areas. I lived in a rural Western Australian town for about 10 years, and saw maybe three wild snakes that entire time.

Maybe avoid Sydney though. I hear the funnel-web spiders are so aggressive they will actually charge at you. Also, I've just learned that they're attracted to water, so you often find them in pools, and they look like they've drowned but they can actually stay alive in there for hours and can still bite you.

Jesus Christ.
Australia having Everything Trying To Kill You [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EverythingTryingToKillYou] seems to be a running gag on the Internet.

The spiders aren't really as bad as Memetic Mutation may say. Still, it's better to be cautious and live than be bold and dead.

Amusingly-enough, the TV Tropes article for Everything Trying To Kill You ends with two sections: "Real Life - Australia" and "Real Life - Everything Else". The Australia section is the longer of the two.
On the other hand, all the deadly stuff in Australia could be killed by a shovel. What good is a shovel going to do you in America if you get attacked by a bear, or a mountain lion?

Hang on, I forgot saltwater crocodiles. How the hell did I forget saltwater crocodiles?

I'd go to Canada. Or England.

I don't feel like learning a new language...And AU sucks for gamers.

Although, I'd probably pick up French pretty quickly in Canada.

It hasn't collapsed were just forced into another election because there wasn't a majority government established in the last one. We aren't falling into anarchy or a coup, it's more like our guys are out of office going on election again because the 3 dipshit leaders of the other parties couldn't get along with the head honcho of the main party in power. Once the election is settled then we'll go back to almost nothing ever changing again.
Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. And to be honest, sounds like something like that is going to happen with the US. Unless the Republicans/Democrats can agree on a budget in... 3 days I think? Or was it 2...

Either way, sounds like its going to happen here.

This is dumb. I wouldn't. And why are there so many political threads in the casual forum. Shouldn't this go in the political and religious forum?
it's just a question for if--for some reason--you had to leave america.
it could also be worded as: "what other country would you live in, other then america?"

The UK. Same language, save some more idiosyncratic things like "lingo" or whatever you might call it. Also, I went there once, and it was pretty cool. I would have no problem with living there.

Canada, England, or France. I guess I'd be okay with Australia too. It comes down to where I have friends/family that I could crash with until I found my feet.

Probably go back to Turkey and live with my other relatives.

As long as I can still view American TV then I'm perfectly fine.

Somewhere that spoke English, just for the convenience factor.

I think, though, I'd have to stay away from Australia, there's too many things there that could kill me.

Jamaica, maybe?

Canada. Because its the most like America that I can think of.

Also, I've always wanted to live in the NW USA, so Vancouver would be a nice compromise.
