Not much of a anime fan here and I know its not sci-fi, but im gonna go ahead and recommend GTO anyway because its one of the few animes I really enjoyed watching. As in, staying up thinking "Ah what the hell, one more episode" and then realizing its 5 in the morning.

Record of Lodoss War (I think I spelled Lodoss wrong). It's a high-fantasy type anime.
Also, I direct you to The Escapist's very own anime reviews. Their quite good,and cover a full range of anime, even if their aren't to many reviews yet (to be fair, they did only recently start reviewing anime). For the amount of time they have been reviewing, they have done a very nice amount.

Code Geass, as has been said, is amazing.
Death Note, probably the only anime I'd recommend to someone who's not into anime.
Darker than Black is a pretty good fantasy/sci-fi anime.
Ergo Proxy - post apocalyptic(sort of) sci-fi, with a very complex story.

Acutually, I love anime... but late anime's (like Naruto, Haruhi Suzumiya or something and Bleach) kinda turn me off on anime shows. Can anybody recommend me worthwile ones?

Anything from the late 90's is sure to be gold. But if you want a really great japanese animated feature, try get a hold of Memories or look for it on youtube. You won't be disappointed.
