"The Fallout series has happened"
Wow. Allow me to reiterate: Wooooow. I'm just imagining my TV getting interrupted by an emergency news bulletin and Brian Williams reading this ashen-faced on live TV. Read all of them and this is still the best one I saw.

It's a bit late for this, but I made this topic not to showcase things that would literally destroy gaming (and the whole world) as we know it, although the rare gem has slipped through, as above.

Replies were intended to be more in line with gaming-centric announcements that would spark such a horrible fan-led shitstorm from which gaming culture might never recover, like a bad director making a bad movie out of a bad video game series that people inexplicably worship. And judging from the ongoing shitstorm that even the hypothetical itself has sparked, it seemed I opened on a high note! Score one for Rock-o.

In more pressing news, Jesus, I actually made a successful topic for once! I'll try my hand at another headline:

"Hideo Kojima was found in his home Friday evening, where authorities have concluded he has lain dead since 1998."

"US bans M-rated video games due to surge in youth violence"
If the US bans it, then luckily the rest of the world can still develop games. I think your headline should read: Global annexation of the Mature rating in videogames due to surge in youth violence

But what I think will be the end of videogames as we know it is if religions get a tighter grip on the world and get seated in a lot of political offices, like presidency even.
Quite apart from the fact that many religious people do hold high office, some well and some badly, this is a ludicrously shortsighted claim insomuch as non-religious systems of belief are very often just as detructive to freedom and "liberty of expression" as any twisting of a religious belief (cf Stalinism, Maoism, Nazism, etc)

Oh. Damn.
SHUT UP! Both Sony and Microsoft is talking about motion control.

DLC becomes too much. Now most games are only full gain AFTER you buy all of the DLC that comes with it.

Kinda like what Borderlands and Dragon Age did with their inventory stash.

Here's mine:

"In order to usher in a new age of gaming, all games will use be motion controlled! Furthermore, all televisions will be set up to only accept the latest generation of motion controlled consoles. All former servers will be closing down to encourage players to switch over to the next generation of gaming. But don't worry because you can still play your favorite old games, redesigned with the new format and for a modest fee."

that would kill gaming for me.

"Michael Atkinson convinces UN to start taking a firmer approach against questionable games and leads a world-wide movement to ban or censor all these games"

or

"A virus has broken out to all players of [Insert favorite online game here] destroying all of their [insert console/computer type here]. So much for quality online gaming."

"Bioware, Activision/Blizzard, and Valve have simultaneously gone bankrupt..."
Wouldn't affect me in the slightest... I might even cheer a little.

OP: The world becomes aware of a frightening truth, after everyone has taken the red pill...
Mmmkay, then, what games DO you play, and are excited for?
Hmm, let's see:
Anything made by NIS.

Demon's Souls was IMO the best RPG of 2009 (clearly better than DA:O) [note: I got both games for X-Mas, and played one after the other, so the comparison was quite apt for me]

Don't like FPS's at all and Shooters in general (so ME, L4D, TF, etc, I couldn't care less)

Online downloads of Video games is bad for consumers. I like hard copies (Don't care about Steam). Not to mention Valve's stance on the PS3... *cough* talentless hacks *cough*

Excited for God of War 3, Nier, Last Rebellion, Fallout: New Vegas, Valkyria Chronicles 2 and FFXIII.
I would have to argue that Valve is pretty damn good. I would have to say they have yet to make a game I dislike. So I wouldn't be so quick to simply call them talentless hacks. Besides, I find the PS3 to be overrated (like most Sony products anyway).

"The PC is no longer supported as a gaming platform", this would certainly kill the technological progression of all the consoles, and almost all the half decent dev's and publishers out there.
I game as much on my laptop as I do on my 360 or PS2. But this is like saying that if Canada shut down, America would crash and burn as a direct result. Please rephrase your opinion in a way that isn't purposefully designed to incite conflict between posters.

I'm seeing a lot of these posts are just console vs. PC bullshit and console vs. console bullshit. Please stop. This topic isn't about that, and no one wants to hear it, ever, anywhere, anyway. I'm glad this thread took off and I'd like to keep the IQ at at least 80.

Even if all the games of the whole world were burnt in a pile and all the developers executed we'd fight to re-instate the gaming culture or die trying.

"Humanity threatened with total destruction by intergalactic destroyers unless all gaming consoles are rendered inoperable".

Wait I had another one but this one is more like a "This will never happen".

"Infinity Ward to fix everything thats wrong with Modern Warfare 2's online play. In unrelated news Satan and God have signed a peace treaty and every thousand years Earth will be ruled by one tyrant after the other".
