I think it may be a good idea. The government of both the US and Mexico have to play by the rules, while Anon does not have this problem.

The only thing they can do is expose the identities of the members of Zetas but I think that's enough. They don't have to do more than that.

HOW THE FUCK DOES ANON PLAN TO STOP THEM USING THE INTERNET WHEN TWO NORTH AMERICAN GOVERNMENTS HAVE TRIED EVERY TRICK IN THE BOOK TO TAKE THEM DOWN?!?
While I agree that Anon doesn't stand much chance of stopping them, I would hardly say that the US Government has tried every trick in the book. Our cooperation with Mexico has hardly been something to write home about, and most of it is just trying to intercept drugs and keep them from entering the country. If Los Zetas did anything stupid enough to galvanize the US Government into real action, they wouldn't stand a chance. Kill enough US citizens, attack a target on US Soil or anything that would prompt the US to take serious action. Hell, the Governor of Texas is practically chomping at the bit to send his armed forces down to the mexican border.

And they're not invincible, of the 31 original members of Los Zetas most of them are either dead or in jail. In fact the founder and former leader, Arturo Decena, was killed way back in 2002 by another cartel.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: There's always hope. Sure, I don't think Anon are going to bring down the cartel, but don't go believing they're some invulnerable military power. In the end they're still just thugs with too much ego and not enough humanity.

Looks like the Cartels don't like the way some people use the net, yea, I really don't see this ending well. At all.
I was just about to mention this, this is why I laughed when I heard that Anon were doing this.

Actually I think people are overreacting to this.

Anonymous can conceivably cause this cartel a headache, if they actually have the details they say they do, but I doubt they can bring it down completely. A few cartel members might be killed by other cartels, I doubt the whole thing will go under. And even then, it'll only be one cartel going under, out of how many?

Meanwhile, I highly, highly doubt the cartel will be able to kill even half of Anonymous. These guys are very good at staying hidden, and even if they do find them, their influence is not universal. Heads would roll, but Anon would probably remain alive and kicking.

So basically, this might get ugly, but I doubt it'll be the end of the world for either party. Of course, I could be wrong.

On one hand, I really sympathize with Anon on this one (one of their members is supposedly kidnapped).

On the other hand...what the hell are they gonna do? DDOS a website (do the cartels even HAVE websites?)? Report the names and addresses of cartel members to a government so corrupt that it totally doesn't give a shit (and the cartel members that are exposed could probably bribe their way out too)? Anon can't do shit about this one, IMO.

I don't think there is any solution to the mexico situation. Nothing short of death-noting the whole damn bunch of cartels at the same time, and then de-corrupting the government.

I (kinda) like Anonymous, but I'd like to see what they're going to do against Drug Cartels.

:/

Seems more like an idle threat than anything. Not exactly sure what kind of chilling punishment they can deal toward them. It's not that the authorities don't want to arrest said drug cartels; it's that most of them are either paid off or know that it's best not to try to stand up to the guy with more shotguns pointed at you than you do him.

dont underestimate drug cartels. one of the most profitable business for mafia is actual internet scamming/hacking of peoples financial accounts. druggers may pick on that too.

I have a proposal for them, but I'm not sure if they'll want to do it.

Anonymous can't stop the Mexican Drug Cartels. These people are absolutely ruthless. They don't follow any laws. They do whatever it takes, WHATEVER it takes to survive. They are armed to the teeth, they have informants everywhere and they've bribed the police and the judges to all hell and back.

So what if you reveal the names of the cartel members? They'd just change em, or bribe/threaten the police to not arrest them. Make no mistake - these people can't be stopped by using the internet. It will take nothing short of a civil war, or a massive amount of demand for drugs, to finish them off.

bout time people went after the mexican cartels who kidnap and traffic slaved people along with drugs and guns.

the mexican cartel war will have cost more lives than iraq in just a few years at this rate. their is a literal war just south of the border with criminals who are takeing over entire cities.

maby they can hack into their bank accounts or reveal locations for strike teams.

or maby an army of guy fawks will cross the border packing m16s and m1911s to end thy shit the before yesterday...the cartels will never see it coming.

actually, if Anon can get the names of the BUYER in US and Canada, then youve struck a major blow by eliminating their business.

They then took back that threat, meaning they will do nothing, probably because the cartel sent them a finger of their friend or something.
Where did you get that from? I really want to know where I can be up to date on this...
Took what from?

If you check the links and the wiki page on it then it says they revoked the threat.

The bit about the finger I added myself which is blatantly obvious by what I put.

I just found it amusing that one minute they are sending pointless threats to a Mexican drug cartel after one of their Anonymous buddies was kidnapped and then the next minute they take back all threats.

Now either the cartel have released said Anonymous member (which is incredibly unlikely), the cartel mailed body parts to other members of Anonymous (quite possible), the cartel know where other members of Anonymous are and have warned them off (probably not, i'm guessing the cartel would have just killed them, it's not like they haven't already got a reputation for slaughtering anyone that pisses them off) or, and this is the one I think is more likely, Anonymous realised they are pissing off the wrong people and backed down like the little pussies they are.

It's highly likely that the Anonymous member that was kidnapped is already dead. As I said above, the cartels don't shy away from killing innocents, they have been on the news worldwide for it.

I understand liking V for Vendetta but is that a good enough reason to due every plan you have in the works on the same day, seems like your gonna stretch yourself thin all for the cause of movie fandom.
