I have to agree with Worsle on this one. Because most of the people that have criticized (well, that's the understatement of the year) Obama's Health Care Plan are people who A) never read the fucking bill in the first place, B) are stir-crazy already (didn't you notice that many of his "critics" were armed for no apparent reason?), C) now... I won't blanketly say that all of them are racist, but a few (like that old lady shouting "I want my America back), but some of them probably are, D) they're a bunch of idiots who couldn't be bothered to actually research something before forming an opinion on it, E) just want to tear holes into something just for the sake of tearing holes into it, F) have never ever studied history or other countries well enough to truly understand what socialism and communism are really about, or G) any combination of the above.

EDIT:
Oh, I just remembered, I recently saw a new mod for Fallout 3 that would replace the vanilla posters with anti-Obama ones. Now, based off of the modder's description, he meant it as a joke; i.e. suggesting that the conflict between Obama and some extremely stupid people caused the nuclear war, but after reading through all of the posters (he had screenshots), I couldn't decide which one was more ridiculous. Again, I do respect other peoples' right to free speech, I just wish that at least once in a while they would use it to have a calm, reasonable debate with RELEVANT comments about a topic that both sides had researched.

Honestly, I think there's some underlying racism to a lot of the Anti Obama rhetoric. What a lot of the people mean when they call Obama socialist or left wing is 'that n***er in the Oval Office', obviously not all of them, but for a fair few you could just put that phrase where socialist/communist crops up and it suddenly makes sense, they're the exact same arguments that cropped up when blacks got the vote, or the right to go to University.

For obvious reasons they can't get away with saying that, so they've latched onto the next thing that stirs fear in the hearts of all true Americans, communists. That it's such a deeply ingrained fear is understandable, the US spent 50years looking down the barrel of a nuke shootout with the communists. But applying it to Obama is unfair and pretty misrepresentative of what he's actually trying to do.

More importantly it's drowning out people who have very genuine and reasoned concerns with his plans

Obama is socialist by definition I think, or at least more socialist than the right,
Obama's actually the definition of a centrist (almost), but it's skewed by how batshit insane the far American right is and how very right wing the not insane American right is.
Compared to actual socialists Obama is pretty right wing.

That's an awesome idea with the posters by the way.

Because Obama has a target on his suit that says "pin cushion".

He's taken over the job of being the scrappy president. And in a nation of paranoid gun toting oversensitive hippies, there's no way to win.

People think Obama is socialist because he is actually exercising his presidential powers.

As for the swine flu posters, all I can say is that a conspiracy is all around us! Swine flu is obviously caused by a galatic organization called the None Human Killers, also known as the NHK!
You sir get a big goddamn cookie for the NHK reference.

OT: There is not much of this on campus, and I live int he south...

So I was walking home from college minding my own business, when I saw a poster of Obama with the Joker face paint and with the words "Why so socialist?". At first I was surprised and started laughing. But then there is another poster at a near by bus stop. Then another and another and another. The town's main road is literally littered with these posters. Also I noticed another poster next to it talking about "Swine flu genocide" and "Don't take the vaccination". (WTF!?)Now I'm all for free speech and all but this seems a bit too much. Not to mention Obama looks freaky with that face paint.

Has this happen in your town? Can anyone please explain what these posters are talking about?

Any help will much appreciated.

Be polite. No bashing or flaming please.

Edit: I get the Obama Joker one but the swine flu poster has me confused.
Where can I buy a poster

The posters may be stupid, but at least people give a damn I suppose.
Thats true but don't forget we like to throw eggs and custard.

I agree. It seems that what ever he does he is condemned and if he does something remotly in the interrests of poor people then he is laballed a communist and facist. I think people are just acting all silly because the person they voted in is actually doing what he said he will do. This is my perception and as i don't live in the US then i don't know the whole facts but still i think people should give him a chance. He promised change well here it is.

I think that the posters are a bit shallow, they've been around since Obama started sweriously running.
When George W Bush screwed the pooch (Iraq / Economy) there were very people that protested.
Then Obama comes to power and uses the rights of the office to try and mop up and 'Voila' the republicans are ready to jump on his every decision. I don't agree with all of his policies, but still...
Personally, I think most of it is just the conservative anger at Obama for winning the election
I agree, my friend gets in my face a lot because I like Obama, and he always says he's evil because he's passing bills that will doom us, yet he doesn't bring up any other possible way the economy could be fixed, like many conservatives I've heard..
People are just angry because he is making decisions during a tough time and passes bills that don't have their full effect right away.
But yes, everyone has an opinion.

How come when anyone uses this phrase, it's to preface some kind of complaint about someone else's opinion?

Heh heh... death panels...

Sadly, those ALREADY EXIST. They're called doctors. If an organ comes in, who decides who gets it and who does not? Even if the death panel propaganda was real, it wouldn't matter.
Oh no, you misunderstand.
Under Obama's system, the doctors would only give an organ to the person MOST LIKELY TO SURVIVE WITH IT!
That bastard.
Why couldn't he leave it the way it is, with the organ being cut up into portions and shared out so everyone survives?

Actually it's illegal as all hell. Not to mention most of the places he would visit were in blue counties and in the case of Montgomery, actually had a Democrat mayor turned Representative (Which sucks cause he was an awesome mayor)

Actually, since it's more the right-wing that's doing this, it's just because he's doing what he said he would do, and he isn't the candidate that they wanted in office. Sadly, this sort of thing is inevitable in a democracy with 2 dominant parties... (sigh) if only the other parties in America could gain enough power in Congress AND produce a REASONABLE candidate for president. Ah well, there I go on one of my dreamy little tangents.

once again i agree with you good sir , cake? This is why i like the British system of the 3 main parties but there are smaller parties that are able to gain significant control. People forget about the lib dems but they played a big role in British history for the past century. I don't get the ooo evil communism thing? :S He isn't communist gah. I'll stop now before i'll go into one big rant and eat some cake.
