Sadly, you can't express the above in a catchy poster. Well, i guess you can

I'm not sure how that cartoon is linked to your point, all I'm getting from it is Obama wants to intentionally kill Americans...

Why do americans have such a big deal with socialism, I mean the US seems to be pretty happy with a socialized police force, firefighters and post services. And up here in Canada I'm pretty sure if someone tried to take away our socialized health care system there would be a revolution up in this *****.

Straaaaaaaaaange.

Not really getting the Americans at the minute - like with this NHS style health care that Obama wants to bring in so they don't have to pay through the arse hole when they need a major life saving operation (which is pretty likely for a lot of Americans seeing as they're the most unhealthy country in the world - and if not I bet they're not far off).

I was watching Mock the Week the other day (I'm English by the way) when they mentioned that (I THINK) McCain or Sarah Palin (someone on that side for sure) said something about Steven Hawking and how if he was British (yes, that's right; they actually think Hawking is American) he wouldn't be alive (again remembering - this is the gist of it not the exact words) if there was an NHS like system in place.

Now there' s 2 pretty major mistakes there:

1. STEVEN HAWKING IS ENGLISH
2. He himself has said that he owes the NHS his life!

If I was Obama I really wouldn't bother - he's taking so much shit from people who think he wants a totalitarian government or some shit. Seriously some of them actually need to consider things for a second.

Just to relate, I live in MA where you have to have health care, or you get a tax penalty at the end of the year. It's terrible. I have a family, 2 kids and my wife, and the cheapest plan that we can get if we buy on our own is 650 dollars a month. That is through our "Commonwealth Connector" program in MA.

650 dollars is nothing to sneeze at, that's almost how much we pay for rent! So, it put us in a position last year where we HAD to go uninsured for about 6 months, because there was no way we could afford it. My wife is a nurse, and they don't even offer health care at her job. At a hospital. Where you go when you're sick.

So, we made a bit too much to qualify for any assistance like MassHealth, but didn't make enough to be able to afford almost 700 dollars a month. Oh, and don't forget, the 2000 dollar premium that you have to pay before they'll even take you on. Where does a lower middle class family get that money?

Well, the answer ain't good, and I did some fucked up things to make sure my kids could go to the hospital if they needed to, but I don't regret it at all. MA is a failed experiment, and it's pretty much what Obama wants for the rest of the country. It won't work, and unless you are very poor I can't see it helping people. I understand the poor need help, but what about the people who actually work and contribute to society and pay taxes, why should we bear the brunt of everything?

Good point, although from what i know (I'm Brit btw) the states control the police and fire department so its not technically the government... but yes, postal service and i presume education as well is state run, so why not health????

It always amazes me how involved US citizens seem to get with their politics, for some reason in the UK everyone just bitches about it but nobody would take the time to create posters showing their opinions or anything.

The posters may be stupid, but at least people give a damn I suppose.
Whats the point, here in the UK we all know the goverment are a bunch of halfwits and fuckups. Why make a poster saying that, we may as well point at the sky shouting "It's blue, with clouds!!!!"

Obama is trying to give everybody free health-care, and that makes him evil? Bullshit.

People have an opinion and they show it, they should at least respect the man who is running their county.
People didn't show the same respect to Bush.
Lets be honest here, Bush didn't deserve a whole lot of respect, president or not.

People think Obama is socialist because he is actually exercising his presidential powers.

As for the swine flu posters, all I can say is that a conspiracy is all around us! Swine flu is obviously caused by a galatic organization called the None Human Killers, also known as the NHK!
Haha just like how Nixon was accused for being a crook for exercising his "presidential powers". But everyone knows he's totally innocent. *Cough* Sarcasm *Cough*
Being fair, that was because he exceeded his power.

I know, I think people are a bit surprised that a president is doing what he said he would for once.

Those posters may be just a weeeeeee bit excessive. However, I do share their point of view to an extent.

I am against big government (as the illustrators of those posters clearly are as well). I'm for regulation, but not outright, unquestionable, squeezing, rigid, control. Many Americans see socialized policies as such. Many Americans are against socialized healthcare (and other ideas/policies) not because they don't want people to have healthcare (or other benefits), but rather they are turned off by the history of Americans to abuse socialized systems such as welfare/social security.

Many are also under the delusion that we should work for, and earn, our way through life without a bunch of government aid. What a novel concept!

That is why so many call Obama a socialist. They don't want him to give handouts to people who may not deserve them. In the end, the taxpayers have to pay for it.

As I've stated in other threads, I'm all for making healthcare affordable (as I am assuming those are what the posters are referring to). I just don't see it as American to make it a government service at the expense of the taxpayers that can be abused by those who find a way.

Aren't we trying to re-invent the wheel? We have a system. It is broken, but there are ways it can be fixed, or at least regulated so that it can work.

Well that's my $0.02. I have a plane to catch.
First, it's not socialized healthcare, that would be the government directly taking control of Hospitals and directly employing every doctor, when all he wants to do is essentially give everyone health insurance.

Second, although this is probably not the place for this sort of discussion (if you want to continue it with me, I recommend a PM), work doesn't guarantee money. I know people who work 3 jobs and are still just above poverty, you can't just say that they're lazy.

Third, and along with my first point, we are more fixing the problem than reinventing the wheel. All the new plan is is essentially competing government insurance plans for those who cannot afford the others, the other insurance companies are still there (which is why the people whining about how they want choice piss me off, since they will have it but just don't want to read the bill)

I've seen those posters, as well as some depicting him as Hitler. There have also been protesters at his speeches that carry guns. (i think it was Alabama, where its legal, as long as they aren't concealed.) People just like to shock people, i suppose.
If there are posters comparing him to Hitler, then I have lost even more faith in my countrymen. He can't be a socialist (far left) and be compared to Hitler (Fascism= far right). Ridiculous.

The Joker objects to that. He's an anarchist... no he's not. He's nothing, anything you can classify is too rigid to describe him.

Therefore comparing him to anyone is, retarded.

President Joker says, "Why so stupid?"

And those are the double standards that make this country so beautiful. *rolls eyes* Topics like this infuriate me because, if I'm not mistaken, someone made one of George Bush and everyone called him a war criminal and yada-yada-yada. Yet, someone makes a sign like this and all of a sudden thats stepping over the line. Its pretty funny actually.

I say, you either have Freedom of Speech or you don't. There is no in between.

I find this interesting... everyone keeps saying these posters are from Republicans, you could not be more wrong... this particular poster is from an Anarchist group. Although they kinda got it backwards in that it should say "Why so conservative?" or something of the sort. Also, Obama is not socialist, he is communist as he wants to make sure the government has all the power. It is when socialism (which is theoretically perfect) is tainted with facism.

We have very good reason to say that he is communistic... he wants to take over my industry next, they are talking about replacing Cisco Certifications with a governmental program to secure the internet as well as we would be required to give all security info to the government so that they have full control of our networks. Seriously this guy is a nutcase, and needs to be gotten under control before he turns out like every other of the greatest leaders this world has ever seen.(Hitler, Lenin, Alexander, Napolean, etc.)

(I realize this will fly right over a lot of peoples heads, but I am okay with that)

Live with it and shut the fuck up.
This is also a terrible attitude because without the people speaking up, there wouldn't be a country like we are living in today.

Actually it's illegal as all hell. Not to mention most of the places he would visit were in blue counties and in the case of Montgomery, actually had a Democrat mayor turned Representative (Which sucks cause he was an awesome mayor)
ok, Alabama was wrong, but it DID happen in Arizona. In that state, it is NOT illegal (thanks for the clarification, djpuppylove789). I bet secret service seriousy had their eyes all over them, which sucks because it could allow for too much distraction.

Just goes to show how much the American people are a bunch of thick media whores that will listen and believe anything coming out of whatever tube they may listen to. And when they find out they were lied to they get pissed and throw a tantrumn.... Makes me laugh.

Although something I think is weird is that unemployment is rising drastically yet the stock market has made a good recovery and suddenly 2 Trillion more is missing in the budget... that all seems very strange to me, and I think we are in for a REALLY big recession as the math is not lining up correctly.

I don't mind the posters very much. I rather like a few of them, actually.

As for hatred of him, I have none. I certainly don't like his political leanings, but I don't hate the guy.
