People have the right to state their opinions. You might not agree, but they can still state their opinions in any way they choose.
Of course they have the right to state their opinions, however the problem is that these aren't the opinions of the people themselves, but rather the opinions of the mind-numbing BS news organizations and radio talk show hosts that they follow so blindly.

At this point in his presidency, Bush had already shown himself to be far more incompetent than Obama. That's not my opinion, that's just fact. Yet where was all this protesting, all this bitching when Bush was in office? Nowhere to be found. Why? Because liberals once again showed themselves to be more intelligent, albeit a bit more cowardly, than their conservative counterparts by simply accepting their defeat instead of organizing "tea parties" and other similarly stupid shit. That's why if I were to align myself with one particular party (which I would never do, the two party system being completely broken and all), it would have to be with the Democrats, because at least they show a bit of humility instead of always flaunting their lack of intelligence.

I love the fact that we have freedom of speech. I just wish that one day we might have the forethought necessary to do something more with this freedom than make ourselves and our country look idiotic. I swear that the majority of the people spewing this crap don't even believe themselves as they say it. At least, I certainly hope they don't. I see "impeach Obama" signs all the time, and unless you've been under a rock since he was elected, you'd know damn well that he hasn't done anything worthy of impeachment.
How can you even say there was no protesting when Bush was in office? Ya know what, I'm just going to keep my mouth shut on these topics on these forums because the one sidedness is astounding. I don't like Obama, I didn't care for Bush, but god damn denying facts is just ludicrous.

Heh heh... death panels...

Sadly, those ALREADY EXIST. They're called doctors. If an organ comes in, who decides who gets it and who does not?
I've had firsthand experience with this. There is a 'waiting list' for organs in each localized area, and it's first-come first-serve off of organ doners. You could argue that it's a 'death panel' but typically they don't make decisions based on cost since they don't have a vested interest in the insurance company. Decisions are made based on who is most likely to live through the operation and who needs it the most. The claim of 'death panels' already existing is true, but only in a very limited sense.

Even if the death panel propaganda was real, it wouldn't matter.
Gosh, it would matter to me if a member of the government (Conservative or Liberal) was deciding what care I should/shouldn't get. To quote the Governor of California, "That's not a tumor! Sew him up and get him out of here!"

Wow, there is ALOT of hatred for the right on here. I mean some of these points are true, but some are pure repulican bashing. It reminds me of the last admin, when a great deal of people made baseless accusations about a President and his cabinet, only the shoe is on the other foot. I am surprised that no one's said anything about certain socialist parties, though.

Guess I'll just watch.

People think Obama is a socialist because they have no idea what socialism really is, or why they are scared of it really. The whole attitude is rather creepy, either the far end right has gone completely nuts or racism has a lot to do with what is going on. Strangest poster I saw was one saying no socialism and no walls, I mean no walls?
I agree. I've heard a lot of people completely fail to understand the concept.
I don't get 'no walls" at all
"No Walls" is a reference tot he Southern border of the United States. If you're not from this country, you may not realize that the Mexican-American Border is a VERY long border. Some people feel that we should build a gigantic wall, either out of actual cement or lasers, or what not, to stop people from coming over into the country without having to go through the actual border crossings or, to say it another way, to stop people from coming over illegally.

This is juxtaposed with the northern American border with Canada, the longest non-fortified border between two countries in the world.

The question remains, why damn up the southern border and not the northern border? If you build a 20-foot wall, will someone not get over it with a 21-foot ladder?

To me, it's treating the symptoms. People coming into the country or wanting to come into the country isn't the problem. That's a result of what the problem is. For as much wealth as America has, Mexico, South America, and Central America (save some countries like Venezuela) has virtually no wealth. That could be traced back to the Monroe Doctrine, where the president at the time, James Monroe, said that whatever happens in the hemisphere is out business. We've exercised varying degrees of control, whether it's helping dictators stay in control over their people, sold weapons to folks that didn't like us, or the wonderful tale of Cuban/American relations, we've been building this bed for a very long time.

I haven't read most of the discussion and I apologise if I get off topic. But first of all, you might think that electing a president to office makes that very person in charge of everything and that everything that happens means they are to blame... that beleif is as false as my third testicle. This beleif is exactly what leads you to keep voting for the two figures they put up while those above know very well that whoever you vote for they're still in charge..

And for the swine flu thing... common cold kills MORE people than the swine flu.. you don't see vaccination for that do you? No, they tell you this many people died from that and thats why you should get vaccinated... "but wait! It's not a conspiracy, of course our government doesn't want to poison us!" I'll just suggest you do your research about these things and the amount of mercury there is in those vaccines.

"But wait! this guy is a conspiracist! Oh no... Who, I ask, who would want to take over the world like that?" The answer is nobody, they're already in control and now with what 8 billion people around they're starting to think that the masses and the wonderful information transfer system we have known as the internet makes the crowds too difficult to control... Now you may think that anti-presidential propaganda is stupid and that people protesting are stupid or you might think public health is stupid...

But once you realise what "Legal tender" means, you'll see where I'm coming from

Its a long standing tradition in the US. If something treatens your way of life: socialist, if someone tries ti give something away for free: socialist, if someone even tries to something faintly liberal: socilist. (I realise not all americans are like this, infact even saying that makes me sound ignorant but you know what i mean) its knee-jerk response thats been hanging around for 30yrs+ and they really should of got over it. Christ, socialism isnt even a threat to democracy anymore and the countries that do use it (bar Korea) arnt that bad, e.g. China.

It always amazes me how involved US citizens seem to get with their politics, for some reason in the UK everyone just bitches about it but nobody would take the time to create posters showing their opinions or anything.

The posters may be stupid, but at least people give a damn I suppose.
It's kind of a big thing over here that just because we elect our officials doesn't mean they don't have to listen to us anymore. If that sounds derogatory it isn't supposed to.

Yeah, the posters are stupid, but the media were such dicks about Bush, they shouldn't be surprised when Obama gets bashed.

Before I say anything, where in the US do you live? I'm curious.
Germantown Maryland. Might be a local thing.
Hey, i live in Laurel, and people put up signs like that all over the place. I am a democrat, and i find these signs rediculous, and an abominable take on right of free speech.

OT: do you go to GW university? my uncle is the philosophy professor there.

I'm not sure if this is a pro or anti poster:

You just won the thread.

I won't pretend to know all the in's and out's out the situations, not living in America, but it seems to me that they should give Obama time. There are a lot of problems to fix.

I personally agree with a NHS (more effective than the British one though!), whether that makes me a socialist or not, people deserve to not have to worry about paying medical bills they can't afford.

errr...
people have different opinions then you.
I don't particularly care for politics anymore because I've been seeing bias on both wings.

Just given up on it, I suppose.

Berlin wall. Heard about it? It is probably a reference to that. Socialism is just the american boogeyman. In 20 years you will see poster like - no islam and no veils. Its just propaganda.
That makes no sense at all though. How do you get from socialism is bad to Obama is going to build a wall? Sure I see how the Berlin wall is a link to communism and hence socialism in some peoples minds but going from there to having a sign that just says no walls? Propaganda is meant to get a message across, not just spout things vaguely connected to something you don't like.

Thanks for clarifying that mate!
I knew a lot of the history/politcs, but I'm from the wrong side of the Atlantic to match up the names to the ideas.
