For some reason, the card game became a bit popular amongst Track players. So my two best friends (being part of the track team) also got into it. Years ago we used to collect the cards but didn't really know how to play, playing now, it is so much FUN!

I bought a Starter Deck (Dragunity Legion) and a card pack (got Red Nova Dragon on first try, now just need to get Red Dragon Archfiend to use it) and started to play with my friend for the first time, and while I wasn't very good at the start, it suddenly started to click and become a lot of fun.

Anyone else still play?

Also anyone know where to get Red Dragon Archfiend?

I used to play all the time, I even still have all of my cards, but I stopped around the end of middle school and even if I wanted to get back into the game I've completely forgotten how to play.

Yu-Gi-Oh, in my most humble opinion, is better than magic. You can work it to have a lot more strategy than magic, but magic requires more strategy at the base level.(IMO)

Also, i still play, when I can find a game. I don't still collect though, it's too fucking expensive to buy those cards when you can have just as much fun with the old ones.

There's nothing wrong with the actual card game itself. I actually just play the video game versions of it because I find trying to buy all those cards expensive.

i do still play with my trusty old series 1/2 spellcaster/dragon deck. but card collecting is too damn expensive.

Yugioh is for kids??? Bahahahahaha. If Yugioh is for kids so is magic.

I will say this tho. Some of those new cards are ridiculous. How many of those are Lvl 3s with more attack than Vorse Raider? *sighs*

I used to play back when the original series ran (way past most people I knew). I stopped when the GX expansions came out because I wasn't a fan of the new mechanics. It sounds like the 5Ds expansions and mechanics are better. I haven't bought any but I've considered getting back in. Unfortunately, no one I knows plays so I've been focusing on Magic instead (which I've thoroughly enjoyed).

Absolutely wrong.

I play it competitively. At a competitive level, the rulings get way too complicated for kids to understand ;-]

Also, I'm pretty sure its currently the most popular card game around at the moment, so yeah, plenty of people still play. My local tournament seems to get around 30 people every week.

I just find card collecting childish. Yugioh is on par with pokemon as far as thats concerned. Magic dosent have its own tv show on cartoon network. (Although, i wont lie, i do enjoy some of the shows from the toonami days)
wait what? card collecting is childish? what does Magic entail? The collecting of red coins and gold stars?

I used to all the time, but then I went to college and had no one to play with, I had the same problem with Magic. I believe I still have my old deck, and all the cards that I had when I bought the packs.

I used to play as a kid. My younger brother got me into it, he was crazy for yugioh. Almost all of my cards were hand-me-downs. i didn't care for the anime though. i haven't been able to play lately because after beating my brother for the 20th time he took his cards back.

That's the only one, and its been around for ages.
I get your point, but think you picked a bad example.

Ive never actually played, just collected. I can definatley see the mature side of card collecting, but I just cant take it seriously. Especially stuff like Yugioh, Pokemon, ect.
I love the escapist where a man with a monkey ape superman pic from a show aimed at kids can call other people childish.

It's a funny world we live in.

I still have and play for the most part all the card games I did as a kid, yu-gi-oh, magic, i even have a pokemon deck or two still fluting around. It is part of my child hood that I started liking more with age. I learned how to work cards better and stratagize. I also have the Marvel/DC card game Vs. . And though I don't have the cards any more I still remember how to play the Digimon card game.

The TV show gives the impression there aren't any rules or overly complex ones...

...anyway, what's the point of playing a children's card game without ultra-high tech holographic projectors?*

*yes I have been watching yugioh abridged

Aimed at kids? They show dick in dbz... Even so, Im not gonna lie, I watch courage the cowardly dog regularly. :p
... I only saw half of a season of dbz and it was a long time ago on cartoon network. I HIGHLY doubt they showed dick on cartoon network.

I've heard the original Japanese version is different, but I'd bet money that you saw the american version before the uncensored one.
