Great day for the tech industry. This has been a long time coming and I, for one, am glad to see such success.

Bah, I hate Apple as much as Microsoft. Maybe more so since I can't stand how closed its products are. I quit Apple when an itunes update installed Safari on my computer without my consent. After that it was goodbye everything Apple. And there's no way I'm buying an ipod when my cheap MP3 player does the same thing.

But despite my bitching, its still a good victory for Apple.

Good for them, I suppose.

I don't really care either way though.

Apple's always ususaly had a cornor of that "mobile" department, weather be iPod, iPad, iPhone, etc, Microsoft's pretty much got the biggest slice of the gaming industry with the 360, and then the majority of PC users. Apple's always had one or two things nobody else ususaly did to keep them afloat. My opinion, the iPod, back in the day, was the thing that got people interested in apple again. Back on topic: It's nice they've gotten stuff together. Even though I hate the Mac, some of the other Apple stuff's pretty nice, plus it might light a fire under Micrsoft's seat to make something new. ;D

Er, would simply mentioning the words "Internet Explorer" jog any repressed memories? Seriously, back during the Netscape/Explorer battle, that program was downright evil in its persistent hijacking of the internet...

At any rate, it's all the same, they're both profit-hungry corporations, each with their own particular brand of evil.

Huh, both companies are giant heartless corporations, no matter how much they try to friendly themselves up. Honestly, I dislike Apple more though because their advertising just comes across as smug and douchey. Yeah, I'll take John Hodgman over Justin Long any day, thank you.

I didn't use the internet at all back in those days, so I thankfully missed all that crap. Granted today Internet Explorer is still crap, only a different brand of it. But now I have Chrome and all is well.

Oh god IE...*facedesks*...
Supposively though, when Vista came out, the devolpers for IE worked together with the Vista team to get rid of alot of "loopholes" and stuff. One of my tech teachers said like "Firefox for XP and anything else, and IE for Vista" which was lulzy, since she was a mac cult follower. >.>

As long as Microsoft keeps making solid software and has developer support, I don't give a flying fuck what Apple does.

You realise apple only did this with at least 12 different main products right? As opposed to microsoft's 2-3 main products.

Also on the afari note, damn right to be pissed off about it, safari is like, THE most vulnerable and unsecure browser out there. A wet paperbag is more secure than that pos.

Theres one thing apple has never yet matched MS on, thats user frendliness, especially for people new to the technology/software. So if MS ever do delve into all the same areas apple has then without a shadow of a doubt they will stomp apple beneath their iron heel.

I don't really care. So long as computers are in generous supply both companies can go die in a fire.

So Apple sells enough iPods to buy God's throne. Okay.

Microsoft still rules the PC market though, which is it's main priority, while Apple continues to make toys. Whoop-de-do.

This shows that investors have more confidence in Apple growth than Microsoft. Which makes sense since from the Wall Street standpoint, Apple has the iPad and a new iPhone coming out whereas Windows has Windows 7 and new Windows Mobile, which are fantastic, but unfortunately are not as physically tangible as an iPad. But this has been a trend for the last few years and Apple has been continuously successful in their hardware. Windows on the other hand, makes great software to the point of monetary stagnation.

Strictly from an investing standpoint, Apple REALLY has it going on right now.

Microsoft has always been a closed software platform, but they never tried to wrest as much control over the hardware platform as Apple does. For that I intensely dislike Apple.

They did, the potential has been there since they stopped trying to have complete control over the hardware in their systems. Once they introduced Intel into the mix it was possible to modify video cards to work in an apple machine. You could spend twice as much and make an apple gaming rig, but it was possible.

Now with steam moving over in all likely hood Apple gaming market is going to open up. Might just convince them to stop being so tight fisted with hardware.
