Nope, Sean Connery is still alive. It's OK everyone, not all the gentlemen are dead!
So true, the whole 'treat others how you want to be treated' thing is harder and harder to maintain these days, kinda pisses me off really...Azure-Supernova said:I woudn't say that gentlemen are dead exactly, I just think that in the modern world, there's a little less tact to go around. I for one am a prime example, I used my manners and demand mutual respect from anyone and everyone. Is it really too much to ask?
But am I right in thinking, that we seem to live in a society of "Respect me because of X reason(s)"? Sure it's expected to respect local authorities. But my teacher is a condescending cow and shows me barely a shred of respect, so I give as much back. Am I wrong in that? Should I really be a gentleman just because she's older than me or has is a figure of some authority?Silent Lycoris said:So true, the whole 'treat others how you want to be treated' thing is harder and harder to maintain these days, kinda pisses me off really...Azure-Supernova said:I woudn't say that gentlemen are dead exactly, I just think that in the modern world, there's a little less tact to go around. I'm inclined to agree with this post. Honestly the only thing being a "Nice gentleman" ever earned me was heartache, heartbreak and even a divorce. It may sound cynical, but at least where I live the ladies seem to be more inclined to choose the asshats. So let em if thats what they want.Quinn Davis said:I hold doors for women, talk to them with respect, verbally tear apart any man who speaks like the dregs of society, and act as much as I can with utmost chivalry.
I have had one girlfriend, never had women interested in me, in fact, lost women to assholes and prigs. Been treated as a doormat and a nuisance.
I'm starting to think that women in general are earning the quality of man they recieve today.
I feel sorry for them. And I end up drinking alone and angry.
As the French say, C'est la vive.
Agreed, and it's really quite frustrating.Azure-Supernova said:But am I right in thinking, that we seem to live in a society of "Respect me because of X reason(s)"?
