I was watching this, thinking of what excuse they could have to justify the arrest of an eleven year old, then I hear fox and go ffs.

I don't see how this is so bad, I drew violent pictures in Grade 5 all the time, so what. I'm not an angry person now, and like they said in the video "putting him in hand cuffs is way worse than him drawing pictures." Also I don't know if anyone remembers but a few months back I posted something about the Milgram Experiment, the short of it is: Most people will do some seriously messed up stuff if they are told to do it by a strong authoritative figure, and he was being told to draw out his anger by an adult and a psychologist, it was not like he could just say no. This is just another one of those times when the legal system messes up and leaves everyone thinking "What the fuck?"

The kid was 11. He most likely doesn't even own a pistol, let alone know how to aim, reload, release the clip or anything else.
You're not giving enough credit to 11 year olds.

ARRESTED?!

Ok, I can see some kind of punishment in order (or at least being called in by the principal to be told "This is NOT acceptable behaviour, cut it out"), but ARRESTED?!

0_o Overkill, much?

American justice system ftw.

Drawing a picture of you killing your teacher is basically a death threat, so yeah they had grounds to arrest him. The fact that the therapist told him to kinda excuses him though, but maybe the police didn't know?
Yes a 11 year old could kill his 30 year old-something retarded teacher and beat up all the dumb policemen so as such he needed handcuffs. Makes sense!

Oh please! I once drew my math teacher getting eaten by cyclops in elementary school. I felt a helluva lot better after I finished it.

Why? I would argue freedom of speech.
Heck, I took my principal on a debate and won, when I was 9.

Jesus fucking christ. fuck this. this same thing happened to me when i was 14 and they sent me to the school psychologist, THEY DIDNT ARREST ME, i just cant stop shaking my head. a kid tries to work out fustration in a non violent and (to an extant) artistic manner and is penalized for it. i give up.

I lend no credence whatsoever to this 'report'. Remember, it was being delivered via a Fox News network. I for one believe this to be a fabrication to get higher ratings.

I'm not saying I would punish the kid, I'm saying I could understand them wanting to punish him.

With the rise in school shootings, I can see schools being jumpy about stuff like this.

However, I'd personally have just taken the kid aside and asked them why they drew that particular picture, and then have told them that there are somethings that you shouldn't do, because it'll upset people and get you in trouble if they decide they are upset enough to want payback.

Well that is just fucking ridiculous. That kid has enough trouble in his life and putting him through something like this is just idiotic. I can see why the police would react in such a way, what with all the school shootings, but the kid is 11 and it's a picture.

Now let me see if I remember the quote:

"He who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither"

I think that fits fucking perfectly here.

Well... judging from the video and the rest of the article, I cannot even count how many of his rights they just violated. (O_O) Anyone want to help me list them all? I'm serious, someone help me name every one of them they violated. :/

This infuriates me to an unsafe degree. They have committed a crime against a minor, they must be punished.

If I don't see someone fired for this, I'll personally pay for them to hire a lawyer to sue the living shit out of the police.

Just under one condition... to pay me back when they win. :/ I'm practically broke. :/

To hell with it, they don't have to pay me back. As long as I see actual justice served, I'm fine. (O_O)

That is ridiculous. Did the school even have a second piece of evidence that they used in their decision to have him charged? Did he have access to a gun? I bet he didn't. They completely overreacted.

And what's the kid gonna learn from that???

He was put in jail for doing what he's been told to do by an authority figure, what the hell was he supposed to do? Things like this make me rage!

He doesn't even know what he did wrong for christ's sake, what the hell can he learn from that experience??

Well, that's a way to screw up a kids life.
