Ooh, bad timing for a topic revival thread. You know there's going to be lots of uninformed people asking "Why is Bungie making a new Halo game when they said they weren't going to make any more?!"

Anyway, here's my question:

Is Halo: Evolutions a good read? I usually don't like short story collections by multiple authors simply because some of the stories are inevitably awful. However, most of the reviews I've seen indicates that Evolutions has a higher degree of quality than similar compilations.

How can a human world with subpar technology beat an advanced race of aliens?
They can't, without help. Basically the only reason humanity won was luck.
I say it was because they are humans. They always win no matter what even when they shouldn't.
They have weapons that we of the year 2011 can trump fairly easily on the ground.
ALEINS R BAD after all.
Why does UNSC make spartans that cost as much as entire space ships and why do they not keep the old designs that were often better?

Well, usually it's because you're there. Most of the time in the Haloverse, humans get stomped. hard.

How well do you think halo would do in a fight against the nintendo a universe that has things that can destroy entire universes?
Depends, with our without pokemon?

Without, ninetndo is doomed, with, halo is screwed.

HUGE POSTS ARE HUGE. MY GOD.

Alright: do you have faith 343 can do as good a job as Bungie?
Nobody can ever do as mush as bungie did, bungie is right up there with valve when it comes to how much they care for their fans.

Plus, they don't have marty. Halo isn't halo without marty. But I have faith in 343, they do have frankie leading them....

Hello. Two questions please.

With reference to the other multiplayer experiences from earlier instalments of the franchise, how do you feel the Armour Lock ability has changed the gameplay of Halo multiplayer in the Reach instalment and do you think these changes achieved by Armour Lock have been for better or worse?

Are the novels actually worth reading, or are they cheaply written and produced?
I am undecided weither armor abillties make the experience better or worse. Personally, I think it doesn't matter: a huge plus of the halo games is how much you can edit and customicae they way you play. Starting weapons, movement speed, etc.

I do think it would be nice to have AA scattered around the map once in a while, or FIX THE FREAKING ACTIVE CAMO TO SHOW UP THE SAME ON YOUR SCREEN AS ON YOUR OPPOENETS /rage

The books are AMAZING. They are easily the best video game adaption EVER in my opnion. They have amazing narratives, and are written by people who truly care. (with the exception of the flood, see below)

If you read the answered questions, you will see my advice on how to start reading them, the order, etc. The only one skippable is the flood, which is basically CE in book form, bungie quickly realized that simply exportating events that occured in game is a bad idea, and they never did another book that way again, thankfully!

(Sorry to take over, OP, but I'm probably reinforcing a point you're gonna make :p)

The Halo novels are fantastic. They aren't the best written books on the planet, but they're always a load of fun.

... Well, except for the Flood. Only read that if you want to learn some behind-the-scenes things from Halo 1. Like what the rest of the Humans on Halo, as well as the Covenant, are doing while you're doing what you're doing in the game.

EDIT: I'll let the OP (who I'll refer to as Majora because Majora is awesome XD) answer the armor lock question.
XD

Okay, that was funny!

(Majora is indeed awesome, makes ganon look like a lazy bastard! Majora's Mask FTW!)

Why do fans dislike Halo 2 so much compared with 3? 2 was my favourite, and I was a little dissapointed with 3. Still enjoyed it though.
If i remember, People only started to dislike two right AFTER it came out, and during the early years of Halo 3.

Most look back on Halo 2 as a high note.

Personally, here's my handy dandy refernce chart on how I view the games:

So, ASK AWAY!
What happened to Jun in the Halo:Reach campaign? Did he just pack his things, move to Mexico, and rename himself Juanchilo? (thats the humerous answer I come up with when I hear that question asked.)

Why weren't there any new weapons in Halo:Reach? I guess you could say after the fall of Reach everyone ran out of money and couldn't engineer new weapons, but why weren't there any new, interesting weapons in there? Sure, there were a few, like 2 if I remember correctly and they were for the covenant. (concussion rifle which is a mini brute shot) (the focus rifle which was a up/downgraded beam rifle) And the smg and dual wielding got taken out. I know you probably can't asnwer these because you probably weren't on the dev team, but I thought I'd ask either way.
Nobody knows where jun is as of now.

It's on of the few canon breaks not solved by halsy's journal; that is, her knowing that there were more Spartans before she hacked into ackersons computer.

As far as the weapons, do you mean canoncally, or IRL?

In canon, all of the weapons you see from reach - 3 have existed throughout that whole time period, it's just that there were none in those locations. The plasma repeater, for example, is stated to be a weapon only used by certain parts of the covie military, hence why we only saw it in reach.

Interesting note: the concusion rifle uses the same mechanics as shade turrets and sprit dropshop weapons.

Why does the UNSC in halo have such terrible weapons compared to ours?
Already adressed: They don't:

Look at the 3rd to last question in the last "answered question" spoiler section, the one that starts with "Actually, as I mentioned, Halo's UNSC weapon designer is a bit of a guns guy" to covie's reverse enginnering.

As I have stated many times, The halo books are amazing.

(read the asnwered questions people!)

Evolutions is one of the better ones too.

gussy1z said:
why do you think there's so much hate for halo game?
It's popular.

I've noticed a trend:

The more popular something is, and the longer it's popular, the more people who don't like it or get sick of it grow, before it reaches a sort of "so many people like it, everybody hates it" singularity.

... I'm SOOO sending that in to xcd!

Don't you play as the alien side at one point?
Wouldn't it just be a twist is the humans died completely and then you have to control the aliens for the fight against Flood?

How does it feel for your favorite game to be milked by Microsoft despite the fact that they said Halo Reach was the last game in the series?

So you think pokemon is the only thing keeping Nintendo from dying?
We are talking about a franchise that can defeat WH40K right now.
Why do on the ground weapons have such terrible ranges?(excluding sniper rifles)

For the 9,000,000,000,000,000 time, THAT WAS NEVER, EVER SAID.

Halo: Reach was the last Halo game BUNGIE was going to make (or, "for a long time", as they said).

It was stated from day one that 343 Studios would take over the franchise.

It's funny because 343 Studios is almost completely made up by former Bungie devs. Hell, the HQ's for the two companies are even in the same state.

Face it, they lied to you. I guess Microsoft really wants to turn up the heat on Sony by quickly starting to produce shovelware and utilizing a well known franchise. Smart move seeing Sony's recent bad PR.

No, they didn't "lie to me". I knew that a lot of people at 343 was from Bungie. And even if they did, like I should care. I love Halo, and I want more Halo.

Would be a cool spin off sencario, i'll give you that.

That's Microsoft's doing, not Bungies. As far as most of the fanbase is concerned, anything not made by Bungie is a "spin off" product.

I am looking forward to more Halo stuff, though I would have perfered them to stick to just a CE remake as of now (the safeest bet, it's many's favorite, and there won't be as much canon backlash), then THINK about Halo 4 depending on how that went.

Time will tell.

I don't like how people overate Halo to the point it makes no sense.
Why do they do that?
I have seen fans thinking Masterchief can match superman...
