I vote for Industrial Revolution Britain as the next Assassin's Creed setting.
It would fit well - crowded cities, paupers lining the streets, evil utilitarian industrialists controlling everything, idyllic countryside, advances in science and technology leading to the beginnings of globalisation.

The East India Company could be used as a front for the Templars, as part of their evil globetrotting escapades? They always seemed a fairly evil, fascinating, controlling international organisation. This way the game could also spread out to different parts of the British Empire with their own beautiful locales: Canada; Australia; Carribean; Africa and of course India.

Failing that I wouldn't mind one as Desmond.

WW 2? Nooooo!
WW 1 not even.

Why set it in a war anyway?
Maybe BEFORE one, so you can assasinate enemy big wigs before the actual war?
It's a game about assasinating people, not a shooter!
That could work, but, remember, it's all supposed to be memories. You can't actually go and, say, assassinate Hitler because in the AC universe, WWII still happened (also, information in the second game suggests that Hitler was in cahoots with people such as Henry Ford, but lets not get into the discussion of the crazy (and awesome) that is ACII's weird story).

I hope they play with the Red Scare. No one has the balls to even touch that these days. What wih America losing in Vietnam.
Really? What about Fallout and Destroy All Humans?
Destroy all humans killed itself with the last game and it was never the main focus of Fallout. Besides, the number of WW2 game vs Cold War games is like 100 to 0.5.

japanese ac could be cool. Heck, ninjas are technically assassins. Just put a ninja in a black creed robe and voila! You have a japanese assassin.

Well as long as they dont end it on a absured cliffhander like before hes about to assassinate someone. I would hate it if they are trying to beat Halo 2's cliffhanger in terms of making people mad.

Oh boy, another WTF moment.

Okay folks grab your Helmets it's going to be a bumpy one.

Anyway, I vote for the American revolution.
American Civil War has my vote with Templars on Both sides! Think about how stealthy you would have to be if you didn't know who was friend or foe.
Son of a *****.

That is brillant. I need to buy you a drink.

The part of history that actually would make sense in the timeline would be around the French revolution, plenty of opportunities for assassination there and intrigues around every corner. Much easier setting to incorporate church and templars activity too. American civil war came 100 years later.
That...is a wonderful idea. The best blend of swords and guns around, and there's that whole uprising thing that the AC universe loves to have about. We could even get some period enlightenment clothing, and Desmond's ancestor could watch the revolutionary crowds, incite them up as a big distraction, then go and scratch a name off of his list. That sounds much better than the American civil or World War 2. World War one, on the other hand, has plenty of opportunities for some cheeky backstabbery...

I think that the next Assassin's Creed should be in Victorian England... Maybe have Jack the Ripper in there somewhere?

I better not be able to control a sub machine gun or rifle in any AC game in the future. That will be the day I throw off the franchise.

the challenge in finding a new time period for this series is how to work in the games concepts into a real world event. What I mean is creating a story line were the whole assassin thing fits well with the time periods conflicts; weaving them together and making it believable.

Assassins creed should be set in china around 1900 then maybe moving to Russia, then maybe Europe. Both China and Russia experienced revolution. Tsar Nicholas II is mentioned in AC2. China during this period had rebellions and invasions of foreign powers AND ASSASSINATIONS. The game could end just after WW1.

Can't wait - the first game's ending was terrible but the second's was done really well.

Oh, and it did make sense.

I think they should set it in Communist Russia just before they get involved in the war, maybe even have one or two levels set in the battle near the end of the game.
