OT: I'd probably go with something similar, since Helghast weapons are awesome looking.

If it's real weapons, then I'd probably go for an M4. It's lighter and smaller than the AK, plus the 5.56 rounds would feel like nothing at all compared to the AKs 7.62 rounds.
For someone like me, who's not the strongest or biggest person around, the M4 makes more sense.

I'm fairly sure most people are just sitting this one out purely because of that sentence, how it's gotten over 5 pages of responses is beyond me

AK47 with SUSAT optical sight or similar

Not because I think it's the best rifle in the world but because I have little practical experience with such weapons so I want the simplest to use, AK really is a fool-proof design. The optical sight is for easier aiming, I understand even novices are capable of excelling themselves in combat when using highly ergonomic sights.

I'd also use expanding hollow-point/frangible round to maximise destructive potential.
