Well yeah they don't need to do anything... if they need to do maintenance on their servers that's their right. As for unreliable this is the only time I can remember PSN being down for any significant amount of time and their hardware is pretty reliable. Retarded and weird? Seriously are you twelve years old? I don't know of any attack that could happen that would last for 5 days without some sort of effective countermeasure being put in place. That's just me. In this case Anon entered on the wrong side and now they're to blame for it escalating to what it has. Had Anon done it, they would of been more vocal about it since, lets face it, the last time they attacked the PSN the service was slow at best, and at worst only a handful of people were not able to connect to the service. Knocking out the entire PSN network would of been pretty epic if someone outside of $ony had actually done it, and that person or group would of been very excited about such a feat.


Claim Anon did it, go ahead, but ask yourself "why didn't $ony just come out on April 20th and say they were shutting down the PSN for a while to restructure it for security reasons?", "Why did they wait for two days after-the-fact to say they had shut it down?".

Yet again, Anonymous can't be considered a "group". It has leaders with no absolute power over anything that the members do. I could go ahead and say that Anonymous would be responsible for it and I could possibly be right.

And I'm pretty sure that they didn't randomly shut down the PSN network unknowingly to it's user base just to restructure the security. That is the kind of stunt that can sink businesses.

To be honest, I think they're planning on making more PS3 games, and Portal 2 is just the start. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of their games ported as PSN downloads, and I wouldn't mind decent versions of the games in The Orange Box even though it's already on PS3. Though what would really kick ass is Left 4 Dead 2, with cross-platform campaign (leave competitive modes such as Versus platform-specific so that controller users don't get their asses handed to them).

I really doubt Steam is related to this outage, though. The Steam platform isn't exactly known for being exploit-heavy, except for a major social engineering problem with people giving away their passwords just because some dude named "Steam Customer Service" told him to. What's more, if it was Valve's fault, Sony would likely have said so by now.
