It's like getting depressed over art. Visually stunning, but completely unobtainable. Oh dear me, I'll never be able to swim among the water lilies. Get a life.

If not, your EMo level is over 5000!!!11!!1
It's over 9000, welcome to the internet.
LOL...cat. And to think, Cameron wants to make two more of these.

I don't know where he can go from here, but do these morons really need more fuel? If they're so obessed with experiencing a fake world, I say it's time they discovered video games. That whole movie played like a video game, anyway, from the leaf jumping to the wrestle the flying thing quick time event, and your relationship score with the naavi chick.

...Huh...really? But our real world is so awesome with it's multiple varied landscapes and everything not having creepy tentacles...

Must be furries. Always blame the furries.

I'm more worried that some moron will say 'Oh, people are getting depressed by watching something that beautiful. let's ban the technology to protect them!'

The only thing that depresses me right now is that people are that spectacularly hopelessly insane. That's like me saying I'm suffering from depression because Winnie the Pooh doesn't really exist and I want him to be my friend. Yeah, I wish the world was a bit more like Pandora, but some of our planet is achingly beautiful. If they stopped watching films and posting on forums then they might take the time to go out and see the world that depresses them so much and find that it's not all as bad as they think.

And how is the film racist? The white guy helps to save the natives, who he comes to identify with and like. Isn't that the opposite of racist? You don't catch anyone saying it's racist when Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson or Denzel Washington save the white guys. In Avatar everyone learns a lesson in tolerance and those who don't are dead anyway.

Keep in mind that people with chronic affective disorders will get depressed over just about anything. I've met a girl who seriously contemplated suicide because the sky was too blue and a man that couldn't get out of bed because he was depressed that he'd never walk on the moon. It is most likely pathological that you feel depressed after seeing Avatar. Either it is because you suffer from an affective disorder or the depression is actually rooted in something else and watching Avatar is just the trigger.

I would have loved it if they burned the entire planet to get at the unobtainium.
I prefer our cities to that stone age socioty that the Na'vi have.
Hell, why didn't they just genocide the Na'vi with WMD's or something?!
....when the Humans blew the home tree to bits and when the Na'vi were charging the Humans on horses and on foot and the Humans greeted them with a wall of high velocity metal....oh yes.
I agree. I agree so hard, that I will explode if I agree anymore (- buring the entire planet. Seems like a waste of good planet. Maybe just 500 square miles around the mines.). THAT WAS MY FAVORITE SCENE TOO! TAKE THAT PRIMITIVES!!! THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR DISRUPTING COMMERCE AND FOR BEING ALIEN! (I'm not a racist, I just believe in the merits of cultural conflict. I know how that statement might sound flawed, but I've digressed too much already.)

I don't really know why they had to be in that nasty jungle in the first place. I mean, the jungle is a naturally very dangerous place here too, and surely there were deposits elsewhere?

On topic: I kinda get it, because one of my greatest desires is to be around 1000 years from now to see what humanity is like, but I also don't get it in the context of Pandora, because it seems like an extremely dangerous shithole to me, and a terrible place to live as a native.

What a bunch of pussies!

if you wake up and truely think this world sucks think about all those starving, homeless, diseased people living in countries which didnt even hear about avatar because they were too busy surviving day by day!

"oh im so ******* sad to live in a world where a 3d movie i saw made me sad, and then i went online with my high speed broadband on my expensive pc and had a cry about it"

Try walking 10+ kilometers a day to get water from a well which isnt filled with parasites and disease.

if you think this world really is that bad it makes you depressed, get up off your sheltered, protected, lucky ass and DO SOMETHING to make the world a better place.

You're just as insane as they are and like them not in a "cool" way.

But this the internet and I don't expect anything else.

Shit, I'm more depressed Cameron didn't put as much effort into his script and fleshing out his characters that he did in creating that world.
Yes, it's kind of like the story that 15 year old kid in the 7 11 told you about how he hurt his leg running from the cops and then the nurse at the hospital "totally ended up blowing him." It's a wives' tale, for insipid people.

Tell me, who's lead should Cameron have followed in fleshing out his characters and script? Who did a much better job on what movie?

Oh my God, is this a fucking joke? Not only is the planet an generic empty shell of a world, but it's a fucking movie.

Betcha it's these same nerds that complain about Twilight fans.
