Because sheeps are rainbow coloured yes?

What happens if I sing the old version? Does a swat team break down my door and haul me off for being racist?

Who can actually decree that the words to a nursey rhyme be changed?

Time to quote the BBC all you dubious source callers http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/600470.stm.
404'd.

This is something the British Tabloids have tossed around a lot in the last ten years as a satire of overdone political correctness.

EDIT: Although they did this so often it was hard to tell what was satire and what was actually the latest diktat from Tony Blair's Thought Police.

What about PC stuff that isn't BS

As there is a lot out there.

Everytime Top Gear gets sued, for example?

And I know the media exaggerates, but we do have a case of changing nursery rhymes in the cases of Kookaburra, Humpty Dumpty and for a few years now Black sheep (No laws being passed, just a sort of unofficial guilt sort of thing, which is all it takes).

I'm not saying laws on this are being passed guys, I'm just saying "Black" sheep is being phased out and it seems ridiculous to me.

Also I quoted the damned BBC what more do you people want ^_^? Bwahaha

Look, I don't care about you guys believing I'm a troll either just please PM me about it rather than clogging a thread supposed to be about BS PC going TF...PM me for anything else, please?
Well, Top Gear has never been sued. It's recieved criticism, same as other shows (QI fucked off all of Japan for example).

Kookaburra was changed because children were laughing at the word "gay". The word has changed meaning and definition in our language, and so it's no longer relevant or appropriate.

Humpty Dumpty didn't get changed, and nor did Baa Baa Black Sheep. Honestly man, research these things. Some places changed the word in order to teach colours, which is what nursery schools do, but NEVER for racial stereotyping.

These things are being spread around by the ignorant super right wing, and unless you are openly wanting to associate yourselves with that, then I would suggest that you accept your mistake

I heard about this a while ago and it just kind of petered out without any real closure.

In any case, I'll be teaching mine and others kids to say black sheep. You know why? Because it s black sheep. A SHEEP. Not a person, a sheep.

Isn't this really old news? I swear I heard about this roughly this time last year.
I swear I remember hearing about it even longer ago than that!

OT : It's ridiculous. Everything is racist or can offend someone these days. It's a horrible, frightening world we live in. Do we even have freedom of speech anymore?

Baa, baa rainbow sheep, have you any wool ? Yes person yes person, three (environmentally friendly trading standards approved) bags full; one each for the gender equality ( and non age discriminated) community leader as well as one for the young person who lives in a child friendly nanny state down the lane.

Are you happy now you bunch of barrier-enforicing, robotic fucks?

How do you 'change' something that's largely colloquial? Everyone's going to continue to say it the old way. This thread is stupid and is an excuse for people to get on their moral high horse.

Considering the fact that they outlawed teaching the rhyme 'Ring around the rosy' to kids due to it's association with with black plague, I'm more than inclined to believe this story, source or no source.

Interesting trivia: Did anyone know that in world of sheep the least likely to be homosexual among the flock is the black one?

I remember hearing this when I was a kid and that was 20 years ago. In any case, I'm gonna sing Bah Bah Black Sheep regardless. What they gonna do? Hang me?

Right, now I've got your attention.

This story is not true. They are not changing the words to Baa Baa Black Sheep because of perceived racism. In some places they teach a wide variety of words, including black, white, rainbow, several colours, and different emotions. This is in order to add to the learning value, teaching children different words and rhyme schemes in place of the simple one everyone knows.

The story first came about some time in the 80s, when a local newspaper reported it as part of the 'loony left' administration trying to destroy traditional values, the story got picked up by the Daily Mail, famous for their sensationalist journalism, who turned it into a national story. Once it was proved to be false they dropped it.

It's been revived several times over the years, whenever the Daily Mail thinks the regular news is getting boring or when they think the 'loony left' is in danger of taking over. Sometimes it gets picked up by bigger newspapers like the Times, who print it to a wider audience, but then they do their fact checking and quietly drop the story.

It isn't true. Don't be misinformed. Even typing baa baa rainbow sheep into google autcompletes as 'urban myth' 'myth' 'false' or some other variation of untrue. That's how little you need to do to unravel this. Now please stop yelling loudly about a PC attack which doesn't exist.
Nah hah, well the whole colour thing sounds useful, and although the racism thing isn't true, my PC point does still stand. (although i do realise the massive irony in my complaint about a non existant PC attck :p)

That's nothing, the real words to Eenie Meenie Miney Moe are much worse....hint...it's not catch a "tiger" by the toe.
My dear old gandmother uses the original word for that little rhyme. T'was quite awkward when I first heard her say it.
