I'm starting to think that the whole world is racist, but only the white people can be blamed for it.

IT'S POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD!

Never, ever, ever listen to the Daily Mail. It's just a load of bullshit and this isn't even true.

Jesus people, don't crucify the OP for not having a source. You guys have major trust issues.
Besides, this is old news, someone had a thread about this last month.

This story has been banging around for years. My understanding is that the kernel of truth at the centre of it is that a pre-school in England made their own variation of the song that combined the song with learning colours. It was never about being politically correct. The government never made laws about it. Next you'll be telling us that teachers are no longer permitted to use the words 'blackboard' and 'whiteboard'.
And since when did they (you know, Them, the evil PC crew) change the lyrics to Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree?
lol. as a teacher i have to say that they don't use white or blackboards anymore. we now have smartboards! =D lol. sorry if i'm being a smartass

...though now that i think about it, i kinda like the idea of using the song to help pre-schoolers learn their colors.

Yeah I've heard this a lot over 5 years or so.

Honestly, if things are changed or if they are just made up, I couldn't give a crap. What I do get tired with is everyone being outraged by things being changed.

What are these sources? If it's true, it makes me believe we're all better off being born blind... until we find different ways to discriminate like accent or scent...
Believe me it is true, I have a lot of quite a bit of experience in schools and youth groups and my girlfriend works in a nursery. The song is not allowed to be sung out of fear of offence. Sounds like a load of rubbish to me though.

First idiots want to change Huckleberry Finn, now THIS!?!

What the fuck... What next? Editing Humpty Dumpty because it's offensive to people affected by gravity?!

And Australia, and moving into Europe

They've changed "Couldn't put humpty together again" to "Made humpty happy again" as well.

I think I speak for humanity when I say: WTF?

....Fuuuuuuuuuuck.

Because I'm sure you had such a huge attachment to that song beforehand.
Black sheep are real things. Now it is a nonsense song with no meaning. Furthermore it demonstrates fundamental lack of understanding by legislators/administrators and suggests the beginning of unacceptable censoring. I dislike slippery slope arguments but they apply here.

Your suggestion to "roll over and accept it" is weak and foolish.
*waves hand* Baaaaah

See what I did there?

Anyway, I suppose it can be seen as foolish, yes, but did anybody really care about this nursery rhyme before they decided to change it? Will anyone care after? Will anyone even know about the change? My prediction is that it will be officially changed and that people will sing the old version anyway because how the fuck does anyone enforce otherwise? In other words, this change doesn't really matter.

"They" can't change the song. Want to know why? Because "they" do not own it. It's as simple as that. The song is old, and no one today can decide how others sing it.

absolutely right, it's completely ridiculous, i hate it when people do this! no-one EVER would actually be offended by the simple out-of-ontext use of the words "black" or "white"

Mr.Numbers said:
So what's your thoughts on this, hmm?

Yes that means YOU, the guy with the glasses.
yeah, i get what you're trying to do but you're gonna have to be a little more specific if you want to freak some people out here (i am wearing glasses by the way)

I think this is utterly ridiculous. I mean, They're gonna change it to Rainbow sheep according to a few sources.

THey changed Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree for using the word gay, and I could understand that. I didn't agree with it, but if a lot of children laugh at you as you sing the song it's understandable.

But seeing racism where there is none is a form of racism in it's self. They are meant to be treated as equals, and acting extremely...extremist...over stuff like this is more causing embarrassment than actual black rights (Which I'm all for).

It's the equivalent of seeing a black guy and saying BLACK. HE'S BLACK. BE NICE TO HIM BECAUSE HE'S BLACK, PEOPLE in my opinion...

So what's your thoughts on this, hmm?

Yes that means YOU, the guy with the glasses.
Just wondering what did they swap gay for?

And I think its all bullshit on toast.

For some odd reason, the first thing that my mind associated with this topic was "Vegetable Monster Fiasco" even though it isn't related...

Odd.

I hate political correctness, turns us into a bunch of retarded zombies. Problem is we are training kids to think everyone cares about their feelings and everyone should accept each other, to be blunt most people couldn't give a fuck.

They've been discussing this for YEARS now man.

Anyway, heres a link that proves some people tried to change it, it wasn't a big thing. Might wanna put it in your first post.

Never ever heard anyone change the lyrics of baa baa black sheep, its a stupid rumour made up, either for trololols as some lame attempt to give bad rep to 'PC culture' (not that i support it, its just this is a stupid way of opposing it)

Ive heard plenty of people (i live in the UK btw) claim this happens, but they always 'heard it from some guy on the internet', i have lots of contact with schools and ect and have yet to hear of ANY reliable source that this happens- except once when a moronic girl i know who was babysitting said she sing the 'baa baa rainbow sheep' version because 'some guy on the internet' told her the original is racist.
