AC/DC
Seem to fade and fade and fade away with each new release.

I remember when they had a frightening amount of aggressive feral power to their music.
They kept trying to do the same song over and over again.

While I enjoyed both Presence and In Through the Out Door, those two albums were far worse than anything Led Zeppelin had put out beforehand.

I'd have to say Green Day. Me no likeh the new album. System of a Down changed as time went on, but it didn't make them worse. Hmm...it's hard to think.
If System of A Down's change is good in your eyes, and Green Day's is not, you have lost my respect.

U2, though, went from mediocre to flat-out bad in my opinion.

Muse. They'll never hit the apex that was Origin Of Symmetry again, alas.
System of a Down also went sour after they let Daron have creative input.

Ugh Metallica, sorry but I don't like alternative metal. Also, I respectfully disagree with your assesment of Arch Enemy, personally I think their origional singer was rather mediocre, while Angela brings something interesting to the band. I still listen to all of their albums, but I far prefer Angela to their origional singer.

U2, great in the 80's, mediocre in the 90's and god-awful in the 00's.

Pretty much everything they've done since (and including) Zooropa has been crap.
Eh, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb had some good songs. Although, no Line on the Horizon wasn't that good.

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean. In my opinion, Green Day's older albums are much better than 21st Century Breakdown. I loved American Idiot, aside from one song. System of a Down didn't really take too much of a stoop.

Daron wrote an awful lot of their songs. Serj and Daron were the writers. I'm not sure how far down their career that you're going, but the majority of Toxicity was writen by Serj, whilst Hypnotise and Mezmerise were mostly written by Daron. Steal this Album! was written by Serj and Daron.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer Serj's voice over Daron's any day.

I disagree with both the OP's choices.

I can only think of one at the moment, Nickelback because Silver Side Up was really good, but they've become crap.

It's really Hypnotize/Mesmerize that I have a problem with.
Daron's voice just..grates.
Steal This Album is probably my favourite, though. Along with Self Titled.

I really liked Minutes to Midnight, interesting change of direction. LP are one of those guilty pleasures, started listening to them young and loved them but as I've got older I've realised how basic (and pretty rubbish) the early stuff is, I'd say they've matured with the last album actually.

I'm gonna go with MUSE and LostProphets on this -

MUSE were unique with Showbiz and Symmetry but have got really stale now I think.
As for LostProphets; Fake Sound of Progress remains one of my favourite ever albums, showed real promise but everything since has blown hard
EDIT... not *everything* has blown hard, but most of it...

Linkin Park kept getting worse with each cd they released. Hybrid Theory: Awesome. Meteora: ...meh. The one with Jay-Z: What the...? Minutes to Midnight: Alright I've had enough. Screw you guys.

In Flames. Once upon a time this metal band had it all. Impressive vocals, creative guitar chords, awesome themes for their music, emotion, and interesting lyrics. Then they became a shadow of their former selves by not evolving and switching genres completely.
I completely agree. After come clarity, they lost all direction. Sense of purpose was utter drivel.

Hmm it was a new sound but I thought it sucked. The "fun" pop/rap/rock of meteora and Hybrid theory was gone and in place was some indie sounding U2 wannabe stuff. With occasional attempts (that sucked) to keep an old sound (bleed it out, what ive done, new divide)

But to each their own :)
