Panic At The Disco changed genre completely in Pretty Odd, thus making them suck slightly, but they did okay I guess.
Hmm.. other than that I really can't say.

this is really true with all bands, they work on their first album for years before they are discovered and their next albums are always a mix of songs that didn't make it onto the first album or rushed songs.

panic at the disko! is a huge example aswell as keane [remember them?]

green day had their one good album then ruined it with the new one

U2 have already been mentioned but it doesn't matter if their music sucks people will love anything they do

jimmy eat world, their new[ish] album may be good but it's nothing compared to the bliss that is their old stuff.

oh and finally i'm gonna throw the whole genre of rap into the going down hill bin. sorry

Yellowcard, and any band that are now dead would probably fit the bill.

I just hope that Coldplay and Green Day dont get worse

Last but not least, System of a Down or more specifically, Serj Tankian. I'd have a hard time judging Toxicity against Hypnotize/Mesmerize, but I do know both of those are indefinitely better than Elect The Dead. Serj's solo album was decent metal but it has nothing of the brilliance SOAD has.
I love System Of A Down to death. They way Serj and Daron sings togheter is just great!

SoB and Serj's Solo was also great.

Although I prefer them togheter as any SOAD fan would.

OT: KoRn used to be better, really.

Dragonforce. First album was good. Second and third were all right. Fourth made me want to stab myself.

And I think Coldplay was best before they started releasing CDs.
They should have just stuck to local gigs and crap so I never have to listen to them.

I have to say Weezer. I don't get me wrong, I LOVE Weezer, and will continue to buy anything they put out, but their last two CDs have just been "schmeh".

All that remains. Once there was less screaming, and a new drummer that couldn't even come close to the double bassed insanity of the old one, I lost interest.

As I lay dying did this too.

Nightwish, after Tarja left. The only new song by them I really like is the instrumental 'Last of the Wilds'. Funny, that..

Children of Bodom. Are You Dead Yet just.. Wasn't as raw as the previous albums. Not enough organs/synths, and Alexi's voice sounds different. I haven't listened to BloodDrunk, but I've been told it's much the same thing.

If not though, I'm happy to be corrected.

U2, great in the 80's, mediocre in the 90's and god-awful in the 00's.

Pretty much everything they've done since (and including) Zooropa has been crap.
Agreed. War, The Unforgettable Fire and The Joshua Tree is one of the greatest streaks in Rock & Roll History (The Unforgettable Fire is my favorite of the 3). They never topped that, it all just kept going downhill until this very day.
