Oh... you mean they're doing the same thing... that all the other consoles do? Get exclusives? That people want?
OH WAIT, it's NINTENDO, so this move is twice as bastardish as it would be for any other company because waah waah PS3, waah waah 360 waah waah casual console for kids unlike the one I PICKED.
People aren't annoyed that it's an exclusive. People are annoyed that it's a sequel that's an exclusive. If this was the first game then the reaction would be along the lines of a shrug of the shoulders along with a "Huh, would've liked to try that. Too bad".
Why can't it be right now? Like it has been said MANY times, if Nintendo hadn't picked Bayonetta 2 up then Bayonetta 2 would never have actually been able to come out. It just seems like everyone's not getting it because it's Nintendo, if this were a PS4 or Nextbox exclusive I can guarantee you that people won't be as angry, even though those consoles are more than likely going to be very expensive and filled with DRM.
I get it. You like Nintendo. And sure, if it wasn't for Nintendo then Bayonetta 2 wouldn't be a thing. That doesn't mean that the people who weren't planning on getting a Wii U can't be annoyed about this. It seems like everyone's not getting it because they weren't getting a Wii U in the first place.
Well that's the point of exclusives, they're incentives to buy a new console. Getting mad at an exclusive is something I've never seen happen with no-one but Nintendo, seriously. This is a next-gen Bayonetta sequel, this is what you all wanted? But because it's on a next gen system it's the worst thing ever? That's like saying that because I had to buy a PS2 to own Metal Gear Solid 2 that Sony are the worst people in the world!
What's all this "you all" nonsense? To answer your question anyway, I haven't seen anyone say that they'd like to see a next-gen Bayonetta, just that they'd like to see a new Bayonetta. As for your MGS2 example, if a person liked MGS1 to want the play the sequel then it's safe to assume that that person had a PS1. If that person had a PS1 then it's safe to assume that they'd want to get a PS2 for more than just MGS2 so your example doesn't really work here.
Now if you'd said that the person liked MGS1 enough to want to play the sequel, but the sequel was an Xbox exclusive, a console that, for the sake of this example, said person has no interest in, THEN your example would work.
Asnwer me this: if it isn't the GAMES that dictate your interest in purchasing a GAMING CONSOLE, what the fuck does?
So you'd buy an entirely new console for one single game? Fair enough, what you do with your money is hardly my business.
Well now, let's see the likely futures of the upcoming consoles:
-Wii U: Large third party support at launch, third party EXCLUSIVES for the system (almost unheard of nowadays), huge number of Nintendo's own in-house exclusive games, free online play, virtual console support, probaby digitally purchasable Gamecube games, backwards compatibility with Wii games, low-end hardware that is easy to program for and won't require such ungodly amounts of resources as Sony's and Microsoft's next consoles, Wii U Tablet Controller that offers unique and never before seen possibilities for games.
-New Xbox: Almost nothing but multiplatform games you can also get on other systems with an abysmal lineup of exclusives that are invariably trumped by exlusives on other systems in every way (which is an utter no-no when it comes to exclusives), no backwards compatibility with games from previous systems, online play that requires consumers to pay money for it in order to be allowed to play the games they have already purchased online (this is pretty much extortion of the consumer) and doesn't offer any form of superior quality of service in comparison to competing online services, Microsoft pushing it's buggy, ill-concieved failure of a peripheral known as Kinect EVEN MORE AGGRESSIVELY instead of focusing on the development of hardcore games, ADVERTISMENTS IN YOUR GODDAMN FACE WHEN YOU TURN ON THE CONSOLE THIS IS FUCKING DISGRACEFUL HOLY SHIT WHO THE FUCK STILL GIVES MICROSOFT MONEY GODDAMN IT; and high-end hardware which will inevitably drive the cost of video game development even further into insustainable heights bringing on an even greater dearth of creativity and originality, and an even larger homogenization of the medium, both in terms in aesthetics and in terms of mechanics, as taking any form of risk in the development of a game will be too financially unadvisable as games will have to sell EVEN MORE than they do in this generation merely to BREAK THEIR DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING COSTS EVEN.
-Playstation 4: Same as above, except with a large number of exclusives that are actually worth playing and are actually somewhat diverse, a free online service, NO ADVERTISMENTS, and peripherals that actually work.
So, even by your "logic", I don't see why you wouldn't have any interest in the Wii U, considering you have no problems with that rancid pile of garbage Microsoft calls a console.
