I was disappointed when I got the 1911 in Red Dead: Redemption, because it's a lot less powerful than it should be.
The High Power Pistol in Red Dead Redemption is a Browning High Power, not a Colt 1911, that might be why you were disappointed :)

OT: I'd have to say the Helghast Pistol from Killzone, its design is just awesome.

Thanks for clearing that one up. I preferred the ISA Revolver, because it was the more traditionally powerful pistol with a slow fire rate, and the "two shot kill" approach. Like Left 4 Dead and Republic Commando, infinite ammo sweetens the deal.

I like the pistol from Halo ODST. Highly accurate, rapid fire... it lasts me days on Firefight. I don't see why they don't put it in more games...
Although if I can't have that, a good old fashioned .357 Magnum Revolver from COD WaW. Loads of good times with that weapon, in Multiplayer and Nazi Zombies.

Same with the L4D magnum, which can be dual wielded, with unlimited ammo.
Nope. Only one. You can dual wield regular pistols in that, which I love because that makes them back-up semi-auto assault rifles in every way except name and design.

The handgun (I forgot its real name) from Unreal Tournament. It look cool and I think the secondary button was fire the gun on its side gangta style!
The Enforcer. The Assault Rifles in the sequels could probably count, too. They're held with one hand, can be dual-wielded

In real life, I always liked the feel and sound of Glocks.

The Falcon 2 with scope! First of all, scope. Second, I felt like a badass when I had two of them going at the same time.

Flare Gun in the original BLOOD.

Primary shot can set a person on fire... alt. fire can set a group on fire. Either way, lots of people running around going "IT BURNS!!!! IT BURNS!!!!" while you cackle evilly in game and out.

Plasma Cutter in Dead Space 1 and 2. Only weapon you ever need.
Well that and the assault rifle for the slightly hairy moments
OT: The 9mm pistol on COD black ops upgraded with the pack-a-punch, A pistol that fires grenades! :D

the .375 from HL2 it,s a literal Hand Cannon
or the Laser Pistol from FO3/NV it can turn your enemy into ash!

The laser pistol from the Fallout series. Seriously, it turns people to ash, how is that not awesome?!?!?
Plasma Pistol was better. Glowing Goo >> Ash.

OT: The Pistols (and really, all the guns) from ME1 were pretty awesome. They actually had unlimited ammo, and with reasoning behind such. IF you read through the codex, the concept behind it was cool.
Alien Blaster is my favorite from the Fallout series it turns people into blue glowing goo
and I know this has been said before but the Golden Gun from Goldeneye is also awesome.

Desert Eagle in Counter Strike: Source hands down, both bad ass and really useful
Desert Eagle in Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

My friend and I run around in coop blasting terrorists with pistols only, and the first person to switch to an assault rifle or shotty loses. Unless we agree that there is no way we are clearing out the next 200 yard section without being able to make long range shots. It is a great way to add difficulty to a game that stresses realism.

The Desert Eagle. In any of the games it's been in, MW1-2, L4D2, just to name a couple.
Impractical? Yes. Badass? Very yes.

I never played Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 but I did play Counter-Strike a lot and the Desert Eagle was by far my favorite pistol in that game.

Hmm... Ratchet and Clank Raptors. 2 pistols that had 50 round clips, could fire bouncing bullets, and (last but certainly not least) had minimal tracking. Thanks to the hilarious ammo capacity and pretty good damage there was literally no way to lose with that gun.
