I personally love Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee. I mean, I'm a Tennessean myself and I really haven't traveled that much but still. Don't go to Florida, especially in the fall time because there are bugs everywhere. I went to Washington D.C. and it was cool if you looked at it from the angle of it being filled with American history and cool sights but I swear it had some of the rudest people on Earth. If you want a cool city, go up North. If you want friendly people, we'll welcome ya'll down here in the dirty dirty South.

Upstate New York is a pretty nice place if you don't mind snow, and as far as cities go on the East Coast the two best to visit are New York and Boston. And should you visit either one of these cities don't say any good things about the other cities sports teams, they hate each other. It's worse than Tottenham and Arsenal.
Yeah, well New York is how every one views as an uptight business state with nothing but skyscrapers and hotels. in Pa you get to look at mountains, subtle mountains not too big not too small and, we get less severe weather because of those mountains. Also, welcome to the escapist!
Wait are you kidding? New York is full of mountains too. It's also got more goddamn lakes than countable and one hundred hills too many.

I would say New England is pretty nice in the Spring and Summer. Pretty comfortable tempature,Historcal sites and just great cities with a lot of attractions. Boston and Providence are proably the best cities in that area.

Tampa, FL

We have more stripclubs per capita than anywhere else in the country.
We also have Moffit Cancer Center, Tampa General Hospital, and All Children's so the medical care kicks.
We have USF which is actually a really nice and not overpriced school.
We have a pro football, baseball, and hockey team.
We have Busch Gardens.

But most importantly, we have the only Yuengling Brewery outside of Pottsville, PA.!!!!
Tampa definetly isn't the best place in the world, St. Pete is even worse. I live between the two. Although, our schools blow.
You are only 18 and you live in Pineapple Park, the second worst place in the metroplex after Larghetto.

=P

Wait until after you turn 21, then things get alot better!
You're right, because I'll be moving to Europe XD

where in europe are you going?
Most likely back to Poland.
unless you are trolling me, im going to warn you now, dont.... in fact put it this way, most of the polish working population have migrated to england since we joined the EU, so that pretty much sums up the country
I'm not trolling anyone, and I don't get your point.

sorry dude but poland fails, not saying england is any better at the moment with the recession and all but all your lot flooded over here as soon as we joined the EU

some good arguments so far, im really looking for something scenic, with a large city within driving distance, but the area i'll live in must be fairly quite but a really nice place to chill in, thats the aim for me really, but if you have arguments towards city life in the U.S thats cool too, i'm just sick of town life, its all fights and shit buildings
Based on what you are looking for I would say that you'd like New Jersey (the most severely underrated state in the US) since there is rural area and suburbs and its only a 40 min drive from NY, BUT I don't want to increase the dense population NJ has so I won't tell you to come here. Otherwise, you have a British accent, you're going to be a hit with American women no matter where you go (except maybe the deep south).

changes based on the season, honestly.
Minneapolis is actually pretty good on the whole... and its ranked one of the most literate and cleanest cities in the country. whether or not thats a correlation is up to you I guess.

But I also love Chicago for the night life- Mardi Gras in New Orleans is hard to beat though... during that season. I really dont like California, though. At least not for more than a week or so.

Definitely not where I live, Rochester, New York. It's 45 degrees, raining one day, 22 degrees and snowing the next. Then just to screw with you it goes to 50 degrees, sunny the day after and back to snowing the next, just to show what you're going to miss over the course of winter. And that's just the weather. There's little to do here besides go out to a random party (none are good really) just to get a hangover the next day. The crime rate is really high. There's a fire one week, then another on the next on the same street, wonder why. Almost everyone that lives around the north part has a criminal record. Only reason people come here from out of state or out of the country is for college, mostly Rochester Intitute of Technology and Univerisity of Rochester, both of which are surprising some of the best considering what I just mentioned.

I've lived here all my life, and i'm not the type who loves big cities, so my area of Upstate New York is just fine. I will admit though, I've visited England and Ireland and liked both a good deal better

Ok im an Englishman, but i've always wondered what its like to live in the USA (everythings alot bigger over there and not just a quick car journey away)

so i was wondering, where are the best places to live in the US and why? and if you like also.... where are the worst places to live?
New England & the West Coast. Everywhere else is god awful...that is, unless you like cookie-cutter suburbs and strip malls...

My money's on Newburyport, Massachusetts. Beautiful town on the Merrimack River right by the ocean. About the only thing I can say against it is that it suffers from a pretty big income-disparity problem (the coastal part of town's rich---the "uptown" as you go toward Amesbury is mostly white-trash/lower middle-class) and it creates problems in schools there, as the rich kids and poor kids invariably snipe at each other.

Dont quote me the weather, we live in a country where its either overcast, raining or sunny then overcast, we have the most boring weather on earth, also i happen to live next to rochester (where your rochester was named after) and it too is full of drinking and fighting, thats a bit coincidental tbh lol, but yeah we have just as much crime as you guys

Forget the USA go to Canada instead, its much better, especially British Columbia. Just beautiful man.

But if you must go to the USA, I'd say san fransisco. I've never been myself but it looks like a really nice place and my dad thought it was a great place when he was there.
Just about anywhere in the SF Bay Area is nice, except Richmond. That place is over run with projects. My dad had to work there a couple of nights, the only rule was NEVER walk outside for a smoke after 6 pm.

Some city's in my home county (Contra Costa) you may want to look into:

*Walnut Creek, the cultural center of Contra Costa County. Its no San Fransisco, but it has a nice little nightlife.

*Lafayette, crazy money, but good shops. My optometrist lives there. Nice if you like trees, cause thats all you'll be able to see out your window.

*Clayton, see Lafayette, except for hills and (one) wicked tall mountain. I get chills every time I see Mt Diablo's "dark" side.

*Livermore, if radioactive mulch is your thing (long story)

* Pleasant Hill, see name. Also, home of the best community college in NorCal. Nice mix, homes are moderately priced and has the best little Hawaiian BBQ in the state.

The great thing about CoCo is that your never too far from a Bay Area Rapid Transit station to get yourself to SF, which itself has a pretty good metro system.

Oh, and if anyone tries to sell you Danville, DONT. That place is so over saturated with faux Spanish style houses that the sky line is tainted a red clay color. Its ugly and makes me remember those years when the hills near my own home were leveled for now half build houses :p

I've been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and I wasn't to crazy about it. The whole city smelled like mold and beer, and all the white people hate the black people who hate the white people in return. =-/

I would recommend moving to someplace in New England. I live on Cape Cod, which is the little arm sticking out of Massachusetts. Most people complain that there is nothing to do on the Cape, but if you are into historical sites and the like it's a great place to be.

Western Massachusetts has the Berkshires, which are beautiful. There are mountains beautiful small towns wherever you look.

I think my favorite state would have to be Maine though. Everyone is so friendly up there, and the scenery is beautiful. There's not as much history there as there would be down here in Massachusetts, but it's quiet, serene and beautiful.

If you are looking for someplace warmer I'd check out Arizona. It's hot, but it isn't muggy like it is in *shudder* Florida. Again, the people are friendly and there are cool ghost towns everywhere. (The OK Coral being one.)

If you are really into living in the woods I'd check out Washington or Oregon. You've got national parks everywhere and the chance of seeing wolves and brown bears in your backyard.
;-)

So yeah, it really depends on what you fancy most. Try looking into all fifty states if yourself. You might find something that one of us missed. =-)

Good luck!

Oh hell yes.

I'd say Massachusetts, especially around Cape Cod. Relaxing sea air, great seafood, tons of great bike paths... I love the place.
