Silly Putty by Primus (originally by Stanley Clarke) - it's spot on and hard to tell who did which version if played side by side

Thunderstruck by Birmingham 6 (originally by AC/DC)

Milk by Anthrax (originally by SOD)

Last Kiss by Pearl Jam (originally by Wayne Cochran & the C.C. Riders)

<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q-k-uN73Gk>"Word Up" by Korn (original by Cameo)...though neither of their music videos are that good (read: they're both nightmarish)

There are a few really good Beatles covers, some of which are better than the original songs (Stevie Wonder's version of "We Can Work It Out" and Earth, Wind and Fire's version of "Got to Get You Into My Life") and some of which are a matter of taste (Aerosmith's take on "Come Together" and Stone Temple Pilots' version of "Revolution").

Other cover songs I've enjoyed:
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Higher Ground" (originally by Stevie Wonder)
Stevie Ray Vaughan - "Voodoo Child" (originally by Jimi Hendrix)
David Lee Roth - "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody" (originally by Spencer Williams and Irving Caesar via Louis Prima)
Lenny Kravitz - "American Woman" (one of my theme songs, originally by The Guess Who)
Ramones - "California Sun" (originally by the Rivieras)
Mötley Crüe - "Smokin in the Boys Room" (originally by Brownsville Station)

With a Little Help from my Friends - Joe Cocker
Agreed, his Woodstock performance is just insane:

Also, Don't lampoon me on this one, Devo's cover of Are You Experienced? is a cool song but the video is a bit camp:

Beck's cover of Diamond Dogs (originally by David Bowie) is pretty good, I also like Supergrass's cover of Some Girls are bigger than others (original by The Smiths); and how can I forget a very interesting cover Japan made of The Velvet Underground's All Tomorrow's Parties.

My top 3:
Johnny Cash - Hurt

They're called Mahoney and they're a local, 2-man cover band that plays at the pub down the street from me.

The Ataris, Boys of the Summer [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db6xHWEPTzo], the best summer song ever. Windows down with the sun out, its magic.

Dizzee Rascal, Thats not my Name [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgjF1zM6wEY]. Didnt see that coming at all. The Ting Tings meet grime.

Both Land of Confusion and Shout 2000 (original being Shout by Tears for Fears) by Disturbed are seriously good covers. I also like the earlier mentioned Finnegan's Wake by the Dropkick Murphys but seriously, those guys can make anything sound upbeat 'n Irish.

And then there's the Punk goes Pop album which has a couple of covers which aren't necissarily good, but definitely fun to listen to. Ones like (One Republic's) Apologize by Silverstein, (Santana's) Smooth by Escape the Fate, (Sean Kingston's) Beautiful Girls by Bayside, (Rihanna's) Disturbia by The Cab and (Katy Perry's) I Kissed a Girl by Attack Attack!.

Nine Inch Nails: Dead Souls
Eva Cassidy: Fields of Gold
A Perfect Circle: What's going on?
Tori Amos: Smells like Teen Spirit

I like covers that have a completely new interpretation
