Best track in gaming music history?

I would have to say the entire track for Freedom Fighters, especially the opening track. The Soviet style of the music cut mixed with the sights of Soviet submarines popping up in New York harbor made me want to kick those damn Ivans off of American soil. The music seemed to fit in so perfectly with an already amazing game. On another note, I'm still expecting EA to make Freedom Fighters 2.

I'd love to do a poll on this, but there just isn't enough room.
It also pains me to ask, because I know I have to give an example and...I just can't.
If I mention Ballad of the Wind Fish, I wonder about Tal Tal Heights and all the other tracks from Link's Awakening. Heck, many other tracks from the other Legend of Zelda games certainly could rank up there. But what about Heart of a Patriot? The Moon Theme? Mega Man 2's title theme? THE FREAKING MOON THEME?!?
What I want is a discussion. Can you honestly say there is one song in all of video gaming that you hold above all others? Maybe we can list them by game genre, by year, make a top ten list, but somehow I doubt that anyone could honestly say there is only one song that is the best.

Haven't played that game in years, but I could hum the entire song by note before I even clicked on that link. God damn that one was great...

As for mine, Most of the Zelda games have far too many epic tracks to mention. The ending of wind waker or the final ganon battle from the same game was particularly great though.
I really enjoyed the semi-ambient soundtrack to portal too.
Nah, can't do this, WAY too many good games to mention, not enough space to do so.

I can see why, it's easily the best song in the entire series. I sat at the title screen for about a half-hour alone before I started playing the game. Beautiful.

Definitely the Mjolnir Mix from Halo 2.

BTW... Civilization II has some of the most iconic songs in gaming history. Play it for a refresher. I still remember "Augustus Rises" and "Hammurabi Ponders" with fondness.

Absolute favorite track? God, I don't know. There are a LOT of songs from throughout my gaming experiences that I'd consider phenomenal. (instead of listing individual tracks, considering most of them were from whole OSTs that I loved, I'll just list the soundtracks)

Most of the tracks from the Mechwarrior 2 and MechAssault games.
Pretty much any track by Kelly Bailey from Valve or any of the composers at Rare.
The original Halo Theme (before they ruined it in 2 and 3)

However, if we were to discuss the most influential and/or most memorable tracks from any point in the gaming timeline, I think there's three songs that just about everyone knows.

1: Super Mario Bros. theme
2: Legend of Zelda theme
3: Tetris theme
