An overall good heavy riff from one of the greatest shows on the planet.

Oh, if you're gonna go there, the Power Rangers theme needs to be added to this thread, too.

It is one of my goals in life to play this song live in front of a crowd of aging 90's kids.
First of all,
Fuck Yeah!

Second of all, I wish you the best in reaching that goal.

Wow, I've never heard of these guys before. Actually, I've never heard anything quite like this and am not sure what to call it, but it's good.
That is the "funeral" variant of doom metal, good sir.

Other bands in the same vein include Skepticism, Shape of Despair, and Torture Wheel.

Also, "drone doom". Can't get much slower than this. :D

I'd heard Skepticism and Shape of Despair, liking them alright, Wormphlegm consider themselves funeral doom. I've actually had quasi arguments with my friends about funeral doom, to the extent that I made a fake funeral doom myspace band http://myspace.com/funeraldoomsucks in a mocking good humor way to caricature how easy it is to play. But I've definitely appreciated Sunn O))) for pretty much the entirety of their catalogue.

It should be noted that I respect the genre, I just can't really get TOO into it, despite my many efforts.

Nice. I haven't listened to Meshuggah in a few years, thanks for the reminder of how awesome they are.

The Black Dahlia Murder is actually just death metal, not core.
:D
Nope, they're core. I know there's this movement to identify them as death metal, and I'll hand it to them that they're closer to death metal than any other core band, but still core. Sorry man.

I have a very strong urge to just place loud annoying white sound in here... you can't top that in the "heavy" class ;).
The truest, cultest, grimmest black metal is just line static.

THE DOCTORS WON'T BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE YOUR FUCKING FACE!
Suicide Silence were the premiere deathcore band, and I personally will always reign war against them for that.

Okay, this is probably flamebait, but what the hell.
Are you kidding? That song is awesome.

When people tell me that the metal I listen to is just noise, I tend to think of The Dillinger Escape Plan, and imagine that what they must be hearing is similar to what I hear when I someone pushes TDEP on me. I can't understand why anyone would like that shit, but then again, I've been told the same thing about everything I listen to by many, many people, so I have no room to judge.

A "who's heaviest" thread without Merzbow? Pfft.

Pisses all over every metal band from a great height.

I don't particularly care for SYL but I have some respect for Devin Townsend. Granted I don't actually like any of his music, but there is no denying his talent.
Thank you for not being one of those closed minded assholes who just automatically label anything they don't like as talentless drivel. I respect this comment so fucking much.

I think we're talking about 2 different eras of Pantera =P

You know, this is actually the first time I've listened to stuff from their glam days.

Angelus Exuro is by far their best album yet. It really pisses me off that Half the band left, including their one off master drummer and Emperor calig. I listen to this album and Secret of the Black Arts religiously, Plus, My Funeral is on my top 10 all time favorite black songs.

All I have to say is OMGKVLT :D

Also, that song has got to be the least representative of Burzum ever.
This is more like it:

I miss the old Darkthrone.
