E3 2008. The whole damn thing.

GTAIV. Mediocre at best. At least I didn't pay for it.

Not entirely relevant, but mainly how the Ratchet and Clank series hasn't died yet. It's a series that's really run out of ideas. Star Wars created a universe for "George Franchise-asise Lucas" to do almost whatever he wants in. He made the home ground for books, games and all sorts of media, and it's still going.

R&C however kind of died out after 3. Ratchet kind of saves the universe in each game now, just with different planets in between. One thing that buggered me off was how the R.Y.N.O from each game got completely put down by its successor with something much more "Badass". It just didn't do it for me.

Speaking of Bully. Any game where you're informed you have to play for 24 hrs before you really get to the meat of it is always frustrating. If I'd wanted to piss about with slow build ups and frustration just when I thought I was getting somewhere I'd go out on the pull.

GTA IV. I know I'm supposed to enjoy the realistic physics, the realistic storyline...but I just want to shoot up civilians and go on a high-speed chase with the cops. Except the latter part is impossible, because all of the cars handle "realistically", meaning that they cannot go around corners worth a damn at normal speeds, much less at car chase speeds. I suppose what I'm saying is that if they wanted to add realism, do it to the story, not the rest of the game. It really ruined the GTA feel for me.

Jurassic Park: Trespasser - where would Half Life be were it not for this game? It promised to be one of the best FPSes ever, and it still does do many things that most FPSes don't, one of them being leaving the Sci-Fi Survival Horror or World War 2 setting and another being actually being able to see your body when you look down. I have very low expectations of FPSes caused by all the "let's be like Half Life" games and the fanboys throwing themselves at them, like saying Gordon Freeman is Original, and seeing something like Trespasser done today and properly would actually make me smile and start having hope in it.

Final Fantasy X - Still to this day I look for the version of Final Fantasy X that the reviewers got. While I saw why they liked the graphics and that there was a goth-girl black-mage (seriously how could you have NOT done that?), I seem to have missed something about the gameplay. I had the U.S. version and I hear the PAL version of the Sphere Grid's a little less annoying, but the Sphere Grid is perhaps the worst idea Square ever had, other than in Final Fantasy 2 where you benefitted more from hitting yourself in the face than getting in catch-22 situations. (I liked the License system, but the less it's like the Sphere Grid the better) Not to mention, the ending wasn't satisfying at all - the only thing that would have redeemed the game at that point would have been Tidus jumping off the airship and being sucked into an airship engine. Maybe they got a version that's devoid of the Sphere Grid or where Tidus met a bloody death, I dunno but lemme know if you find one of those versions.

Final Fantasy X-2 - AAAAAAAAH! HE'S COMING BACK! NOOOOOOO!!! KILL TIDUS!!!

Bioshock. Love the game, but having just a good or bad ending like that let me down. Well there is that third "middle ground" ending with the change in tone of Tennenbaum's voice.
...woo hoo

I'd say the biggest dissapointment would be the ending of Oblivion.

It's at the very last point, if not after the cinematic ending (not a separate movie, but you're immobilized and forced to watch and pick your nose) that you realize you didn't save the world. On the very last moment the emperor charges in, goes praying and beats the bad guy.

This is enhanced when you start thinking back on the harder parts of your main quest, which would be gathering all the items to create that damn portal. Looking at my previous saves I'd spent well over half the game retrieving the bloody amulet the emperor uses to beat the bad guy.

The dissapointment comes to me bigtime when the realization kicks in that you never had a chance to beat the bad guy unless you're one o the emperor's kids. This meaning that there was no way you could've beaten the bad guy yourself and were therefore sent out as champion of the real hero to fetch all the items to retrieve the real hero's sword (amulet) to slay the big bad guy and save the world... you were never a hero, just the hero's bloody errand boy!

MECHASSAULT

I will never forgive that game for as long as I live. I grew up with Mechwarrior 3 and Age of Empires II. These were practically the only decent games I owned. When Mechwarrior 4 came out, I was all over it like a fat man attacks a pizza. It wasn't as good as MW3, but it was still fairly true to the series and it offered some legitimately good combat. Then, along comes Mechassault. It took EVERYTHING that made the Mechwarrior series good and threw it in the dumpster. I blew $60 expecting MW5 and I get a stripped down arcady piece of shit with no customization, realism, and a giant spider boss. I almost cried.

I'd heard nothing but good about it. It sounded like it had everything... Complexity, freedom, choices, character building, action, quality storyline, ultra-immersive atmosphere, and a twist to end all twists. People went out of their way to avoid spoiling the twist, urging me to just play it, I wouldn't regret it. They wanted me to have the experience they had - and I myself only do that when I really like something.

I tracked the game down and ordered my copy. When it arrived, I had to jump through a few hoops to get it working in XP, since it was an old-ish game, but I knew it would be worth it. I finally got it working and what did I find?

Crappy, really dated graphics that ruined any immersion I might have had if it wasn't for the stupid cliched plot straight out of a sci-fi B movie. Sluggish controls that made it harder than necessary to kill the infinitely respawning bad guys with my finite and scarce supply of ammo (or psi energy as I was using that as my main focus). This is a bad system for someone like me who likes to take time to explore every nook and cranny.

I didn't get as far as the "awesome twist" because I stopped playing in disgust at myself for falling for other peoples nostalgic rose-tinted hype, but when I read up to see what it was out of curiosity and learned that the woman on the comm system that was helping you out turns out to be the main evil force behind it all I just thought "that's it?!? Your friend turns out to be your enemy??" That was in my top 2 or 3 guesses - it would have been more of a twist for this not to have been the twist since this plot device has been done ad nauseum since storytelling began thousands of years ago.

Its one saving grace was its soundtrack, which I enjoyed. Other than that I was extremely disappointed with it, considering what I'd been led to believe I was in for before playing.

I take it you've guessed the game I'm talking about. Yeah, system shock 2, suck my balls.

Dynasty Warriors 6 - PS3 - Wow, 41 characters and 24 of them are useless to play as

Final Fantasy VIII - PS1 - Love/Romance in RPG's is okay, but FF8 banged you over the head then proceeded to smother you with it

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - GBA - A travesty of a sequel to a legendary game

Arcana Heart - PS2 - I just didn't like this one

Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit - PS3 - I didn't notice much of a difference (graphically) between this and DBZ Budokai 2

That's all I can remember for now, if I remember some more i'll post them up here

The ending in beyond Good & Evil and the fact that there are not enought new characters in Street Fighter 4.

Lunar: Dragon Song for DS is up there. Thank goodness I only paid used price for it.

Another one: Super Mario Sunshine. Wasn't a bad game, but definitely the worst Mario game (that isn't something stupid like Mario Math or whatever the hell that ass was).

Grandia was blah too. Hyped up as a FF7 rival, but it bored me to no end. Ok, it was a quick end, since I turned the damn thing off.

I don't know why everyone is ragging on CoD 4's ending just for being a little mean. Sorry that war doesn't always end all happy-pappy hunky-dory. It was real. I personally felt sad that the characters died (especially Gaz), but that's what happens in war, people die. Not to mention you killed the main villian's son, so he probably wasn't very happy.

As for me, I was disappointed by Haze. I mean Free Radical had a pretty much spot-free record until this one. Except for maybe TS2, I preferred TS3.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. Simply put, I loved the gameplay improvements and all that, but what REALLY made it disappointing were the shit storytelling, characters, and botched atmosphere. The Prince goes from a nice wisecracking guy to an emo douchebag who's trying too damn hard to act "tough" and fails miserably. The storyline suffered as a result of this guy's changes. The only women in the game were annoying little sluts with hollow personalities that do not live up to Farah in Sands of Time. The music STUNK of heavy metal that does not fit the setting of the game AT ALL and to top it all off, some glitches in the game forced you to start ALL Over AGAIN, especially near the end.

Luckily, a lot of it was made up in The Two Thrones.

My biggest dissapointment in gaming is probably Haze, I was so looking forward to that game.

After that it'd have to be Dante's stale humor in DMC4, don't get me wrong, the game was amazing. It's just I was expecting WAY better jokes/puns from Dante.

Metal Gear solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

So much BS even for a metal gear game for me to actually try and swallow but the final nail was just so much damn chatter with Rose and Raiden.

Super Metroid. There's nothing fun of shooting every wall on the planet to find a secret passage that leads to a new weapon, only to now have to shoot every wall on the planet with that new weapon to find another weapon, which you then have to use to shoot every wall on the planet to find another weapon. Which you then...
