Basically, I'm yearnin' fer a new game to play. But I was wondering which game you all preferred more? Bioshock 1 or Mass Effect 1?

I'm asking about these two specifically because I don't really know if my comp could handle the sequels, and I'm not even sure that it can play these as well.

The weird thing is, I checked the requirements on the site CanYouRunIt.com [http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/intro.aspx], and it says the exact same thing about Oblivion, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead 2, Mass Effect, and Bioshock. It says that everything checks out EXCEPT that I shouldn't be using a Mobel Intel 4 Chipset family thingie. But my comp runs both Oblivion (VERY well I might add) and runs Left 4 Dead 2 decently enough, but it was completely incompatible with Fallout 3.

So I just wanted ya'lls opinion on the subject. Should I just not take a chance, and save myself 20 bucks? Or should I try getting one of the games? And if so, which one would you recommend, Bioshock 1 or Mass Effect 1?

EDIT:: THIS IS NOT A VERSUS THREAD!
There... Now you know...

EDIT EDIT:: NEVERMIND! DISREGARD THIS THREAD! My computer is apparently completely incompatible with Mass Effect, and probably Bioshock as well...

Mass Effect will arguably give you more for your money.

Go with that.

VERSUS THREAD BAD.

But they are not comparable. At all. Little to nothing is similar and/or comparable about them.
He's asking what to buy, it's not a verses thread :p

I'd say Mass Effect, then again I'm a scifi whore.

Yeah, they're way too different to compare point blank like that. Mass Effect 1 is longer, and is really quite the RPG, and BioShock has a fantastic story and is a great Survival FPS.

So, FPS or RPG?

I haven't run into many games that do atmosphere as well as bioshock does. I'd say bioshock.

I enjoyed Bioshock far more than Mass Effect. To be honest, Mass Effect is a pretty crap game. The gameplay is just horrible and by this point I'm so sick of it that I never want to touch it again. Bioshock on the other hand has fairly decent gameplay. My biggest problem with it was that it was to easy. But it's not boring and should keep you entertained.

Yeah the atmosphere in Bioshock was really good. To be honest sometimes I find a good atmosphere to be better than a good plot in a video game, so I prefer Bioshock over Mass Effect in that sense.

I liked both games and I don't think there's a good way to answer your question. My personal preference would be to get Bioshock, but that's as much as you'll get from this thread - personal tastes.

Personally I preferred Mass Effect over Bioshock. Bioshock had great atmosphere and all but the fetch quests really pissed me off. Mass Effect was pretty damned addicting for me I put over 31hrs into the first play through and have begun my second.
So in short...

Mass Effect

Funny enough, a while back I bought both of these games at the same time (based on their stellar reviews).

I put in Mass Effect in first (since I like RPGs a lot more than FPS), played it about 3 hours, got bored, and quit.

Put Bioshock in and spent a frenzied weekend in a darkened room having the time of my life.

I thought Mass Effect was going to be the given like for me, but it wasn't. Still haven't gone back to Mass Effect, although some day I'm sure I will. I have replayed Bioshock at least 3 times, though.

You can't really lose with either. However, Bioshock 1 was a masterpiece in my mind, while ME1 had some gameplay issues (aka combat). It's not gamebreaking, but it does get annoying when you have to play the game for 20+ hours. Anyways, probably the most well-rounded game would be Bioshock.

However, if you're planning to buy either of the sequels, I would go with the ME series first. ME2 is amazing.

Mass Effect all the way. I've played both on the 360 and Mass Effect is definitely my favourite. Plus you'll definitely get a lot more out of Mass Effect.

Why not get both? They're both two years old and dirt cheap by this point.
This. With their sequels out, it'd be a total of, what, forty dollars? If you're a PC gamer. Console users tend to get screwed that way.

People have got to stop making versus threads, especially when it is impossible to compare the two games.
People have got to start reading the OP.

I enjoyed bioshock, much, much more. Better gameplay, story, setting, more fun, etc. in my opinion. Also I thought bioshock was the perfect length. So I'd buy bioshock, especially if its only $20. That's a steal.

Well, because I'm not even completely sure that either of them will work. Whenever I go to check the system requirements for these games, it literally says the exact same thing for almost every game I check. The games USUALLY work, but sometimes they don't (i.e. Fallout 3 was completely incompatible with my Intel Chipset family or something. Now THAT was disheartening).

What makes you think I didn't read the OP? In fact, I purposely read the OP to make sure that my complaint would be legitimate, and so that I knew I wasn't doing what you are suggesting I was doing.
