ARGHHHH, every time I see a picture of Anomen it makes me want reach thru the screen and punch him. Why anyone would want to romance him is beyond me. He?s suck a dick. It?s like they tried to make the most unlikable romance option ever. And look at the expression! How can you not want beat the crap out that?
Allot girls seem to like Alistair but I don?t like him either. He was cool for the first half of the game but he gets really really annoying.

1.His face does look very punchable.

2.What if bioware are trying to turn femsheps and femhawks into lesbos by giving them lame guys to choose from?

3.it is very one sided. male shep gets miranda (dat ass) ashley (still hot) tali (sexy nerd) jack (total dom) or Liara (pure hawtness).

Femshep only gets jacob (meh...) thane (srsly?) kaiden (more yawn) or garrus (he's cool as a friend but i don't see how it would work if you tried to do it.) Why can't femshep just date Joker? he's funny, he's useful, he has an actual backstory and flaws that make him more awesome. maybe bioware is just trying to be PC by putting a "play as a girl" option. idk.
Oh yeah, Joker would be an excellent option. Except FemShep would break every bone in his body in foreplay alone. I get what you mean though, I like Joker.

The entirely awesome Garrus, who is nevertheless a scaly and crusted anthropomorphic lizard and thus unlikely to bestir many hearts.
You, kind sir, have obviously never been to Deviantart before.

Fuckin' Garrus fangirl art all up in this *****.

EDIT: Observe the creepiness that is the DeviantArt fangirl machine

I rest my case.
Holy shit. I stand corrected.

Part of me thinks the assumption that all male leads are totally unfuckable stems from the fact that OT is most likely het and thus cannot imagine fucking any of them. I liked all the male leads in both DA games. As for Mass Effect...well, I never even tried to romance anyone other than Liara, but I'd have totally boned Garrus' brains out if given the option.

As a console-era Bioware player, I didn't get to play KOTOR, Baldur's gate, and the like, however I have played their newer stuff.
KOTOR came out for the first X-Box. Just wanted to correct you on that.

My FemShep went for Thane after abstaining in ME1. Thane seems to be the most grounded member of the entire team and had a great personality past all the baggage.

Plus I remembered Mordin's "medical matters":

Thane: "Ingesting is the equivalent of drinking hallucinogenic absinthe."
Garrus: "Do not...ingest."
Chafing comes with both of them.

Where's their Morrigan? Or Ashley? Or Tali? or Jack? Or Miranda? Or Merrill?
Only one of those characters I actually liked was Morrigan. Face it - Bioware's romances hardly appeal to everyone. I would agree though that the Female options are even more horrible than the Male ones.

Counterpoint...Bastila and Morrigan are some of the most compelling characters in the Bioware universe... (possibly because they are both incredibly sexy (says more about my choice of female than anything) and most of their characters lack charisma (Carth and Alistair)...

she has all the individuality, emotions and free will (courtesy of joker) that a human or humanoid alien has.
Actually she doesn't they are preprogrammed inflections. Mordin even says so when he comes aboard. It's pretty lame that the only good male character is off limits really.

Just proves the Op's hilarious point.
Inflections are how we grammatically and tonally convey our attitudes and emotions, not the emotions themselves. Mordin was pointing out that EDI had a synthesized voice which conveyed emotion.
According to the mass effect lore AI's are synthetic sentient beings (not to me confused with VIs) with all that that entails.
Also, i would argue that i only found one likeable female "love interest" In one Dragon Age or Mass Effect game, does this mean that Bioware clearly hates me and wants me to suffer? Or does it just mean that they aren't really making the characters in depth beyond a few stereotypes. Of course the Female's always had it going on in the traditional sense, so i guess the argument that Garrus is simply not "doable" is valid, but to me the whole thing just comes of as whining. Especially when one of the reasons for the "relationship" between EDI and Joker is that Seth Green has a crush on Tricia Helfer.

It comes off as whining to me when everyone pops up and acts like he is some sort of sacred treasure to not be touched by femshep.

Why do we have to have Jacob or an alien when there is a funny topgun on board...
It's just totally nonsensical. Bioware do the same thing with Varric in Dragon Age. I'm not even sure they know they are doing it tbh. They probably think women like no personality and lots of pecs...

As MaleShep, Jack all the way. My borderline-psychotic renegade Adept and Jack are best friends for all eternity. All they care about is each other, and ripping people to shreds with their minds. <3
I have a psycho renegade Adept too. Of course, he specifically screwed over Jack for mouthing off to him. Remember, he's a psycho- he doesn't like it when people fall in line, and Jack does her own thing.
My backstory was that he was an L2 implant who was improperly upgraded, leading to the adverse psychological effects Kaiden mentioned. Thus, he had anger issues and enjoyed exerting dominance over others.

Actually, I've never romanced Jack...
Never had her die (except in that playthrough) either but never found her interesting enough to pursue a relationship with.

Females get Garrus.

Already, nothing can be given to the men to even the odds.

Except maybe Garrus.

I haven't played Mass Effect (I really should get around to doing that) but I have played the Dragon Age games. Dragon Age: Origins, I went with Zevran mostly because of his accent and because he was easy. But Dragon Age 2, thank god you got the option of being gay because I ended up with Merril, who is all kinda of awesome :)

I can't speak from a female perspective, but Zevran, Alistair and Thane are probably some of my favorite characters in... anything.

Zevran is not only a sharp wit, his strangely optimistic cynicism is hilarious and refreshing. I found myself agreeing with him more then any other party member because me and him were both just trying to have some fun. But there's a lot of humanity and pathos lurking behind the scenes. He's not only a great laugh, he's honestly among the most sympathetic members of the party.(Did anyone else notice that both the rouges had tragic backstories, and that they were both bisexual?)

Alistair is also sympathetic, but for different reasons. It seems like his entire life has been planned for him, and that he eventually just learned to go with the flow, which makes the twist regarding his birth all the more bitter with irony. He to seems like a real human being, with real flaws. I really felt like I got to know him, he way he deflects uncomfortable situations with humor, his fear of leadership. Not to mention he's also just really fucking funny, not in the ironic way either, he honestly has a great sense of humor.

And Thane... where do I begin?. You want sympathy, let's have him be terminally ill, not enough?, it is?, TOO BAD!, he's also filled with regret, over his kid, and blames himself, with good reason. Are you crying yet?, good. Now let's make his philosophy really engaging and interesting!, oh, and really fucking depressing on top of that, oh and not depressing in a "I'm sorry you think that way" kind of depressing, that's for pussies. No it's more like "I hate how much sense you're making" kind of depressing, you know, the kind of depressing you carry with you for the rest of your life, which makes sense, really.

I like Thane a lot

Thane = adorable. Oh my god, the chemistry between him and fem!shep is amazing, and it's heartbreaking to boot. As someone who shipped the crap outta Cloud/Aeris in her youth, it's like crack to me.

I agree.

The moral of this entire thread is: To each their own. If you don't like what's available, there is always the option to not romance anyone. The game does function without a romance. Believe me, I've tried it. Doesn't change anything about the main plot or game play or anything.

And yes you could KILL Tali sorry but it's true. The fact that people think thats okay while a romance with Joker isn't is just totally lol.
Joker is already in a relationship with EDI.
And EDI can be calibrated so that she won't break him! Match made in heaven!
Why do people have such a prejudice against disabled people having a relationship? It's kind of awful.
You really need to get a sense of humor, pal.
Just kind of sick of people coming out with that excuse like it isn't completely offensive that's all.
You need to lighten up and get a clue.

Sex is the pay off for a relationship in a game.
Funny how the Sebastion one still works then without sex... *gasp*
These aggressive comments against you are confusing.
"Why isn't Joker a LI?"
"He is disabled and you are dumb for asking!"
"What about Tali?"
"Completely different even though I can't explain why."
It is a valid question.
