What do you actually know about this Prothean that makes him so essential to the story.
Well? I'm waiting.
The answer is pretty much nothing.
He is a Prothean. Big Whoop. Yeah, its cool for the fans of the series. Does that mean that the Prothean being a squadmate is 100% required for you to finish the game? No. It does not.
What do we actually know about Liara that makes her so essential to the story. Well? I'm waiting.
The answer is pretty much nothing. Shepard could easily have space googled prothean ruins to find Ilos and talked to some other prothean expert. And really how hard is processing a bunch of intel in a world with computers so powerful that they often become sentient. I mean its cool for the fans of the series but does that mean Liara being a squadmate is 100% required for you to finish the game? No. It does not. Lets remove her from the game.

And don't get me started on the whole taking out voice actors and such. A stupid comparison if there ever was one.
For sure man, because content is only unimportant and nonessential when you say it is.

Joccaren said:
but there is little reason to believe it will be more than a cool little add on other than paranoia.
I agree with Biowares pricing of 'cool little add ons' I find 1/6th the cost of the entire game to be a great price for something so little and insignificant.

First of all Zeel i think ill start by congratulating you on how you have somehow managed to keep a debate going for 28 hours, seemingly without rest.

Now for the bit i feel i want to comment on.

Zeel said:
You can not be that bloody naive. EA games is a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE producer of games. If this trend continues how much do you think I'm going to lose in the future? Games I'm interested in will cost almost twice as much just to have the 'privilege' of the full experience. I will draw the line here, atleast if we fail then I know i didn't rollover quietly like some people.
You kind of crossed a fundamental rule of the internet there. That being you assume that random, anonymous will people care about your problems, actual or theoretical. (Underlined relevant portion of quote)

But thats not my main point.

My main point is that people will pay for what they think is worth it. If you dont think its worth it, simply dont buy it and leave people to festoon in what you seem to think is the 'wrong' action.

Besides, after reading your blog posts [http://xkingxzeel.blogspot.co.nz/] its kind of hard for you to maintain anything other than a fanboy for whom the butt-hurtedness goes beyond that even of the Megaman fanbase for reasons much lesser in comparison to the Megaman fanbase.

And reading some of your later posts it seems youre now less on about slandering Bioware and Mass Effect 3 than you are about having some sort of conversation.

If youre wondering, yes this is a repost.
Oh perfect, I can add to my list.

WHY DO U CARE IF I DEFND IT?
Zeel doesn't care if you buy the game. Zeel only cares about the standard of the game industy. If you are going to defend the practice, come with your A game.
First of all, you blew yourself right out of the water from switching to an alternate account already by refering to yourself in both first and third person. This one can do it too if this one pleases. Only this one has no need to.

Second of all, i didnt mention anywhere that i supported the practice. I said you needed to realise that people will buy what they want and you have no power to sway that decision. Period.

Third of all, you claim to defend, yet all ive seen is one ongoing attack against Bioware for having peripheral content out on the same day the game that said peripheral content is for is released.

Fourthly, learn to spell. Theese forums have standards, y'know?

Fifthly, there is no buissness standard with the game industry, theres only the standard with the publisher. EA likes day one DLC, Capcom likes trolling its fans, Ubisoft has a morbid obession with DRM policies on PC. If it pleased them EA could charge twice what theyre charging already for Mass Effect 3 and all of its DLC both present and future.

Finally, you want to know what the difference between EA games claiming something is extra and what is extra content is? There is none. When it gets to you, its extra content. That is all.

Stating yourself in third person perspective is a sign of madness ya know.

Seriously, I'm going to bed now, no-one even cares about your opinion on this subject, I grow weary of your rants now. I may just take pictures of the DLC when I get my CE edition and post them on your blog for personal amusement :D

Just before I go, did you say you were a fellow Brit? STIFF UPPER LIP MAN! Don't let them know you're suffering - keep calm and carry on!

THANK YOU PROFESSOR! I DIDNT KNOW I COULDNT BRAIN-CONTROL PEOPLE INTO NOT BUYING THE GAME. THANK YOu. Here I was actually fucking trying to do it. Thanks though. I wonder, can I fly? has that been proven to work? Seeing as clearly you are some sort of physicists/biologist professor badass. Can I ask you a question about quantum physics next-Actually, you probably have a class to teach at Harvard. s'long.

your 3rd and last post aren't even worth summarizing.
And rather than admitting that im right you shift back into incoherent and poorly spelled statements in block capitals, then proceeding to the text equivalent of ramming corks into your ears and screaming 'I'm not listening!' until i get bored and go away.

But now i wont go away. I prey on egos like yours for breakfast.

Is making chicken noises really any better than posting gifs of turian airquotes?

You actually have some legitimate points, but you bury it all under so much bile that it takes active effort just to wade through it all.

Zeel, everyone else in the thread, can we try to reach an agreement on something? If the Prothean is in the game and the DLC only adds the ability to use him as a squad member and a few missions, it's not really essential. If he is completely out of the story without the DLC, it is pretty significant (Don't know how significant because I'd rather not read the spoilers. I'm guessing about on the level of Legion?)

Wow, still going strong, guys?

We're at war. No one wants to admit it, but you-manity is under attack. One very specific Prothean DLC might be all that stands between you-manity and the greatest threat of our brief existence... troll husks.

Dude, admit what? I still dont know what you're trying to tell me. Is it that I can't make people not buy the game. Well you know what. I know that already. is there anything else you had to say or are you just wasting more of my time?
Lets have an agreement. You dont bury your point under block capital statements and ill respond to the point where and if appropiate.

Ill take the first step.

Regardless, i'm still pissed that Bioware are planning out DLCs all the way back in november. That is fucking sleazy as hell.
You cant really single out Bioware on thier own for planning DLC's prior to release. Even now i know that Gearbox is throwing around concepts for Borderlands 2 DLC, that Activision has made plans for map packs in the last 4 Call of Duty's before they even announced it and that Capcom is already in the various later stages of producing DLC for Asura's Wrath, Street Fighter x Tekken and Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City.

Many publishers and developers do it, so dont single out just one of them for doing it.

I'm might just get 2 copies of the DLC when it hits net, one for me and one for zeel if only to shut him the fuck up.

Trying to convince people not to buy this particular piece of DLC or any other is absolutely pointless and a waste of effort that could be spent more productively elsewhere. Either people have the disposable income available so that it isn't a big deal for them or they don't and nothing anyone does or says on the internet is going to change that simple fact.

Their level of disposable income will warp their judgement right up to the point that they're inconvenienced and then and only then will they be outraged.

So from from one person who can't stand the thought of day 1 DLC to another, go do something productive with your time. Now that you people know how expensive a Bioware RPG can be you will not be fooled again.

I find them all equally sleazy. Bioware just takes the cake by using lore related DLC to squeeze pennies out of the consumer.
your acting like lore is so important in the grand scheme of things when other then tell you about the past does nothing since he has been out of contact for too long

I draw the line right here. You do not get to remove ESSENTIAL FUCKING content just to ship more fucking collector editions.

Fuck that. Anyone who agrees, send them an email at contact@Bioware.
Hey, genius. They said that this was made after they had already finished the main game, and there was no confirmation that they would actually HAVE it ready for launch date. Even if it took longer for the DLC to be released, the CE people would probably get it free, anyway, not unlike the Saints Row the Third Season Pass that gets them Genkibowl and Gangstas in Space.

They just happened to have the DLC finished by launch date. It's a bit of a nickel-and-dime effort, I know, but the reason they didn't put this on the disk was because they COULDN'T put this on the disk, and because EA most likely wouldn't let them distribute any free content.

You say that but Capcom has stated that a DLC 'episode' in Asura's Wrath takes place in the interim of the games second time skip. That effectively makes Cyber Connect 2 not much different from bioware in that respect.

Besides if its lore you care about in Mass Effect everything he says, to the word, will probably end up on the Mass Effect wiki within a week of release. Not to mention watching Lets Plays if you really have as much free time as your forum record indicates that you do.

not to mention that Mass Effect is stupidly redundant in its lore, they will tell you the same thing about 8 different times, in 8 different ways, per game just so you CANT miss out on it.
