My eyes... they burn!.

OT: Meh, good for them I guess. Blizzard are no strangers to consoles, the first Diablo was already available for the original PlayStation, with 2 player coop and all and Starcraft was available for the N64.

They get the money from people who poopoo PC games and PC gamers who want to play the game offline whithout Blizzard constantly checking if you're not cheating or scamming somebody for that precious armor they want.

The perfect Win=Win situation.
We really think the console version won't also require always online? Ha. That's rich.

Even if it did, does that outweigh capped visuals, capped framerate, a pre-set resolution, and being pigeon-holed into using a gamepad for it, when you can use a gamepad or mouse and keyboard on PC? I just see very little incentive to get this on console if your PC can run it.

(I also see very little incentive to get it at all since Torchlight II is a thing.)

Not that Diablo 3 for consoles is a bad thing, just hope that they don't do to it like they did to Torchlight. By that I mean make all your attacks CONE AREA OF EFFECT.

Edit: http://games.ign.com/articles/121/1216193p1.html According to this, Blizzard clarified by saying that console Diablo 3 was still being explored, therefore it is NOT confirmed.

What do you propose then, auto-target?

This is easily the biggest problem of this sort of a game making it onto the controller. The aiming is literally one-dimensional.
Perhaps allow M+K? All that area of effect crap does is turn it into God of War RPG edition, not to mention easier.

Yay. This makes me happy as it means I don't have to buy a new computer. I prefer consoles anyway. I'm use to having my hands close together, not far apart when playing games. And I only use two or three special skills and let the rest fall by the wayside, so as long as you can map skills to buttons, I'll be good. Wonder how they're going to handle the multiplayer and always-on DRM.

Also, I can't help but notice that the guy never said Diablo III is coming out on consoles. Looking at it strictly from a literal stand-point, he answered 1) Whether he's allowed to confirm or deny if Diablo III is on the consoles. He said "Yup," which only means he's allowed to confirm or deny it. He never actually confirmed it because he wasn't asked that question. And 2) he never said Diablo III. He just said Diablo. It could be a spin off, or a port of one of the other two games. If any of this is the case, this guy wins the award for biggest troll ever.

That would be better for sure, but, realistically, how many console owners have a M+K setup? 5% as a really optimistic estimate? And then, how many of those people would actually prefer the more skill-intensive version of the game?
M+K cost less than controllers and the average person already has one laying around, it shouldn't be an issue. Also, how many people wanting it for console haven't played the original? I have a feeling that this isn't going to be something that a whole lot of console players will know about unless they frequent sites like these anyway.

I know someone's already mentioned this but this would be the first time Diablo has graced consoles. I'm kind of curious to see whether they can pull it off.

You aren't going to plug those out of your browsing(or work) computer every time you want to play some Diablo, though, would you?
I said the average person probably has one laying around and they're significantly cheaper than any of the proprietary controllers.

Also, I was under the impression that you can't plug just any mouse or keyboard into a PS3/Xbox360.
You can, just that no games have support for it except UT Black. I've used a keyboard plenty of times to type on a ps3.

Diablo is pretty much a household name when it comes to gaming, given that one doesn't live in a bubble. Even if it weren't, it still would. Because Blizzard is as well, and they've made World of Warcraft. Name recognition alone will bring a shitload of sales. On that note, how much has the console version of Torchlight sold so far? Anybody knows?
House hold name to people like us maybe, but the "Non gamer" doesn't associate games to developers most of the time. Most of the people I played WoW with didn't even know that Diablo was a Blizzard game until they forced a battle.net merge. I work at a game retail store as well. Whenever someone asks me what Borderlands is like, the first thing I ask is "Have you played Diablo?". I have yet to get a yes answer.

And as far as Torchlight goes, considering how I heard ZERO word on its console version until long after it was released, I think it's safe to say that it didn't sell nearly as much as it's PC counterpart. Then again, that can probably be associated with Microsofts piss poor ability to advertise indie games compared to steam.

I stumbled on this on IGN, apparently Blizz clarified by saying that the console version of Diablo 3 was still being explored.

Action RPGs feel better on console controllers anyways. The analog sticks work well for maneuvering characters instead of WSAD or mouse-clicking. And I won't have to worry about my mouse being broken from this game

Actually, it's not. Diablo I was on the PS One.

OT: If it doesn't require internet, then I'll get it. If it does, no sell. :|
