I have yet to meet another person who has read the Silmarillion which saddens me greatly.
well, now you've met one! have you read all the books?
What do you mean by all? I've read LotR and The Hobbit.
the silmarillion is only the first of about eleven or so books detailing the history, mythology, etc. of middle earth. i was asking if you'd read all those too.

almost no one knows Serial Experiments Lain or Boogie Pop Phantom...
Seen and own both of those, Lain has to be one of my all time favourite shows. Boogie Pop is fun but a tad to depressing to watch too often.

Lain is my most favorite of all time evar...

me too I own both Lain box sets and the VHS tapes and I just got Boogie Pop last week, 2 day shipping my ass...
I love Lain, I had to watch the entire series in one day, I couldn't wait.

Book= the graphic novel Watchmen, heaps of people I know have seen the movie but it seems none made the effort to read the book.
Seriously? Watchmen? I've got great news for you, it actually sells pretty well. You're not the only person who's read it, far from it.
What I meant to say was that no one I know has read it, undoubtedly outside of my sphere of influence it is more widespread.

Don't know the exact name of the trilogy but one of the books was titled "Black Sun Rising" by C.S. Friedman, read it in high school and I still remember the series fondly, though all the titles escape me, still have yet to find another person who read them

Mine would be the book Momo by Michael Ende. Anyone who can get hold of a copy really should as it's the best book I've ever read. The Neverending Story as well. I watched the first two films I think before reading the book and I can easily say that the book is vastly superior.
I love those books.

Ever have a book, movie or game that nobody you come across is familiar with it? What is it?

As for me, The Night Angel Trilogy, by Brent Weeks (a very good read)
Those books. Anyone else read them?
I have read them! Kinda like Assassin's Creed but dumbed down :p

Also, I think I'm the only one who listens to Aural Vampire, and who actually watches Gurren Lagann anymore.

But I have seen a couple people on here that also listen to Blind Guardian which is sweet!
I've read it. Is it sad that I found it far more interesting, and readable, than any other piece of work Tolkien put out? :*(

I've read Childhood's End. Had to do a report on it in English (by my choice). I've got to laugh at the fact that I expected the aliens (I can't for the life of me remember the name, sadly) to be the villains (though there aren't any villains). Sad book.
Hope you two enjoy these.

And if you haven't seen it, here is the original, skip to about 1min.

Haha! Fun. I have read Silmarillion (liked it, big fan of Tolkien) and I am currently listening to Blind Guardians latest album. It's awesome. Two songs dedicated to Wheel of Time, one to A Song of Ice and Fire. Two of my favorite fantasy series :D Now they just need a song about Malazan Book of the Fallen.

As for an answer to the thread... not really. I know quite well that I am never the only one, and I cannot think of anything right now. I can list things I feel more people should read/play/watch though:

Books: World War Z by Max Brooks and Necronomicon by H.P. Lovecraft.
Movies: The Usual Suspects and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Games: Psychonauts, Evil Genius and MineCraft

Has anyone else played Rampage Universal Tour? It's one I don't ever hear much about even though it is fun.
I used to play it all the time on N64.

I listen to Poets of the Fall, and I haven't met anybody who has even heard of them

I'm convinced I'm the only one who loved the Pendragon series of books as a kid. I'm also pretty sure no one else played Prey.
I did play Prey.
Also another game I have rarely seen someone play is:

[HEADING=1]The Void[/HEADING]

Best game I have ever played, and the only game I can SERIOUSLY say it's an art game gem.
I love that game...
Played both Prey and The Void, had to quit Prey though, since I got the worst case of motion sickness ever (including the time I was sitting in the back of a van, going down a mountian in slopes and being slighly hung over at the time)

Everyone in my class loved Pendragon. And I am still confused by the ending, because
apparently everyone isn't real, and they all are spirits.

Aachi & Ssipak. It's a Korean Anime that's 1/3 John Waters if he got together with Happy Madison, 1/3 Mad Max movie if it were directed by Michael Bay (The Good Michael Bay) and Bay saw Akira the night before and 1/3 HELLA WEIRD.

Seriously, it's a post apocalyptic movie about people using feces as a renewable energy source, and motorcycles, mutants, guns (lots and lots o' guns) and one scene where a Breakdancing robot fires a gun populate the entire movie.

I couldn't make this movie sound anymore weird if I tried.

The poster tells you nothing about the movie, in fact, it doesn't make you want to see it anymore now.

If you have seen this movie, please confront me, because there are few that have seen it, and it is truly a diamond in the rough (A Really really weird diamond in the rough)

Games: Beyond Good and Evil, Freedom Fighters and American McGee's Alice.
I'd love to play Beyond Good And Evil, is it any good? And I've got American McGee's Alice, one of my favourite games (though to be fair I've always liked looking at the twisted, darker side of fairytales and children's stories ;D). And I played Freedom Fighters after a friend lent it me, also a very good game and one that I need to get myself. I really wish they'd hurry up and do the sequel they've been talking about for years...

On topic: I haven't found anyone yet on this forum who's read the Three Worlds Cycle, by Ian Irvine. Made up of two quartets and a trilogy, with a final trilogy planned, it's a sci-fi/fantasy series that kind of spans around 250 years in the history of this fantasy world, Santhenar, and a set of wars that take place around various ancient relics. I only know one person at all who has read any of them, only the first quartet, and that's after I pressured him into it (though to be fair after I lent him the first few books, he did really enjoy them and would probably have read the others if I hadn't lost contact with him after we left high school...).

first off an aouthor no one(not online but that i have phiscly have met)has heard of H.P. lovecraft great stuff, but for books this normally applies, because its not discussed as much in indie pop culture or online well for books the dresden files are a seires of books starting with stormfront and the his dark matrials trilogy by Philp Pulmen(could be spelt wrong),
most people of my age we,re to busy reading harry potter and now twilight and another book no one i know, know's the great shark hunt by thomson s. hunter, for anime not many people talk about or have heard of (serial experiments:> or just)lain or 'welcome to the NHK'.for movies i don't know movies are hard to think of stuff no-one has heard of(same with games)i had to choose Drugstore Cowboy and for games a ps1 game called wild9

p.s. for music though there is this band called cherry poppin daddies that no one has heard of and Khaiseri good choice on books i love the Bartimaeus Trilogy :)

It's a great game Beyond Good and Evil, I haven't found any game like it, at least on the PC. It has great controls, it's stealth mechanics are well implemented and the side missions-minigames are fun. The graphics have an art style that still is good to look, the soundtrack is amazing (one of my favorites) and overall I give it a near perfect 9.5 out of 10.

Oh, and now that we are on games, there is another one that I strongly recommend is an indie PC exclusive game released in 2009 called:
[HEADING=1]The Void[/HEADING]
Best.Game.Ever.Made.
And I am serious about it, perfect atmosphere, excellent story, innovative and unique although kinda confusing game mechanics, symbolism and overall the perfect game ever made. I strongly recommend it to anyone. Just note that it's very hard, maybe as hard as Demon's Souls, but a little more forgiving at the start. And it's the only game I seriously call an art game. Truly unique. I recommend you check it out now. And maybe Pathologic, made by the same creators, as well, but it has some issues that The Void doesn't has.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is the best Trilogy I have read EVER!!!!!!!
Third book was weakest, but loved the main character and his excellent use of footnotes.
